Sounds like fun, I'll blast through them with Sonic speed!

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

I started playing the games in 1999, played a certain game at a child minders and was hooked on Sonic's.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. As I said, I played it at a child minders and loved it. Got Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast for PC not long after.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The characters were cool, the music was awesome and just the dramatic feel pulled me in hard.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Ok, this will be a big list. Sonic CD (PS3, PC), Sonic 3D Blast (PC), Sonic R (PC), Sonic Adventure (DC), Sonic Adventure 2 (DC), Sonic Advance (GBA), Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (GC, PC, PS3), Sonic Adventure DX (GC,PC), Sonic Advance (GBA), Sonic Mega Collection (GC), Sonic Pinball Party (GBA), Sonic Battle (GBA), Sonic Heroes (GC), Sonic Advance 3 (GBA), Sonic Gems Collection (PS2), Shadow the Hedgehog (PS2), Sonic Rush (DS), Sonic Riders (PS2, PC), Sonic 06 (PS3), Sonic Rivals (PSP), Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii), Sonic Rush Adventure (DS), Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games (DS), Super Smahs Bros Brawl (Wii), Sonic Riders Zero Gravity (PS2), Sega Superstars Tennis (PS2), Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (DS), Sonic Unleashed (PS3, PS2), Sonic and the Black Knight (Wii), Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Wii, DS), Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing (PS3, PC), Sonic 4 Episode 1 (PS3, PC), Sonic Colours (Wii, DS), Sonic Generations (PS3, PC, 3DS), Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii), Sonic 4 Episode 2 (PS3, PC), Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed (PS3, PC, Wii U), Sonic Lost World (PC, 3DS) and Super Smash Bros (3DS). Phew!

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I'd have to say Modern. Sure, I love Sonic 2 but my heart is always for Adventure. I just feel he played best there.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

I'd have to say Shadow. I was the right age when he made his debue and man, I was obsessed. His cool design, his skate run and his bad attitude just pulled me in. He may have fallen on hard times nowadays but the dude is still a bad ass.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

I really liked what Ian Flynn had going for Archie before the Genesis wave. It had built on the few good parts of Penders and made something truly good and fun. Hell, it gave Shadow a lot of character buffing too, as well as Silver of all people.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

"LET'S GET MOVING!!!" Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06. or....

"YO PUNCH AIN'T GOT NO JUICE FOO!!!!" Emerl, Sonic Battle

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Has to be Sonic Adventure 2. It upped the story to be a world wide threat, had mystery and intrigue, allowed us to see the bad guys point of view, had Sonic pushed to his limit (almost dying in a pod will do that) and had a legitimate reason for the heroes and villains to work together in the end.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I like how silly and all over the place it is, as well as Robotnik. Sonic X gets a mention but sadly, its pulled down by Thorndyke.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

I'm going to say Unleashed's intro. Beautiful animation, cool moves, Griffith and Pollock are on point, music sends chills down my spine and it is a feast for all Sonic fans.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Apart from the story reasons I listed above, the gameplay is rock solid (I enjoy all 3 playstyles) and the multiplayer is the best time I have ever had. I'd play it for hours every day as a kid.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Vocal: I Am (All of Me). Yeah, I know, it's cheesy. But damn that song is badass. It got me hyped like hell for the Shadow game.

Non Vocal: Solaris Phase 2. This is the best Sonic track to me. Catchy and dramatic and carrying what Sonic 06 was meant to feel like, this tune will stay with me until I die.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

I loved this move in this game. Extreme speed, makes missions so easy and that music makes you really want to go fast.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Think it's Sonic 06. It was well orchestrated, catchy, interesting and dude, Mephiles theme was actually...good.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

maxresdefault.jpg

Think it has to be this. My first memories of Sonic is the Adventure intro and to see Perfect Chaos brought back in glorious HD was just...euphoric.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

Have to say the 4Kids cast. Odd, I know but once they got into their stride, they really got the characters. Eggman is obvious but Griffith really got the cocky side of Sonic as he went on and his acting wasn't bad either. Just swap out Rouge with any other cast and we're fine.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

That Professor Gerald didn't program the ARK to impact the Earth. I believe he somehow escaped his cell, found Shadow in the base and reprogrammed him with his plan. When Shadow awoke 50 years later, he got his emerald from the bank and travelled to the ARK. There, he programmed Gerald's plan into the system before Eggman arrived.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

Going to have to say volcano. Levels like Red Mountain and Volcano Valley are always so well themed and have some of the best music to boot.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Easy.

Radical Highway man. This level cemented my like for Shadow. A fast highway, escaping military pursuit, a great night city view and THAT THEME!!!! Such a badass level and it's come back a few time too which pleases me.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2011. As a fan base we all came together to celebrate. We were all pretty hyped for Generations, to see how our favourite hedgehog would celebrate. Heck, Summer Of Sonic 2011 was amazing too, it even put me in Generations XD

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The conventions. I attended my first Summer of Sonic in 2010 and have attended every one since. I went to my first Weston Super Sonic last year and loved it too. The feeling of being in a room with all those like minded people, no critiscism, no hate, all just love for everything Sonic. The guests always rule and having merch handy is gloriious.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

The feeling in this trailer is ominous as hell. It really made me afraid, wondering how bad the Werehog would be, how out of control he'd become. It really felt like a horror movie trailer and I adore it.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Black Knight Sonic! This guy was a badass (Flip that Chilli Dog you cheeky mothertrucker!), funny (faceplant), cocky (his rivalry with Caliburn was great), heroic (screw the Ladies challenges, a little girl needs my help) and truly knew how to save the day. It may have cost the Kingdom its King but it was necessary. It may mean the Kingdom dying but it was the best way to go.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Really, I think its the music and gameplay. I'll admit, the last few years have been rough. The games have been subpar, the soundtracks forgettable and many things just steering the series away from what I like (Webber's Twitter antics come off as arrogant to me and Boom is painful to watch). I stick with it though, knowing 2 games are coming with good (overall I imagine) soundtracks. I'll keep running with Sonic, adventure awaits us and there's no time to waste.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Since roughly 1998 when I was around 6 years old. I was introduced to it by my niece, who'd usually play the games on her Megadrive when I was around my big sisters. I eventually got my own Mega Drive console that Christmas, and I was hooked. I also started buying StC around the time I was introduced.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

That's a tough one, seeing as it was hard to distinguish between the games I was shown and the one's I actually played. The earliest ones I remember being shown by my niece were Sonic 1, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic 3D, followed a little later by Sonic 3. The earliest one I played for myself was most likely Sonic 1 (I specifically remember trying to play my nieces and not understanding how the controls worked), and then it was one of the first game I got with my own Mega Drive.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

I loved the bright colourful graphics on the screen. And I guess there's a chance that his being blue played a part in some way, two of my favourite characters as a young toddler were blue after all!

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

*takes a breath* I think I have just about every major title in some form or another, from my native PAL region, and a few Japanese versions too. In one case I *only* have the Japanese version (Knuckles Chaotix). My biggest game-related possession is the Generations Special Edition box. As well as a few other obscurities (the French version of Mean Bean Machine with the alternate boxart being one). I think the only game I don't own in any form is Sonic's Schoolhouse.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I like both!

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Big the Cat, because he's a giant, precious cutie-pie who did nothing wrong!

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

The one I gravitate to the most is definitely Archie, which is why I'll be devistated if it truly is ending.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

I guess Sonic Adventure 2, simply for how freaking dark it got, without going too overboard with it like, say, Shadow the Hedgehog.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

The first one I ever saw, noneother than AoStH! At the time, I felt it came the closest to capturing the spirit of the games. I also love OVA and Underground due to nostalgia.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

I'm not entierly sure if it even counts as a cutscene, but the opening and endings to Sonic CD. That animation is some of the best this franchise has produced and the artstyle is textbook eastern Sonic.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Another toughie. The most obvious choice would be Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but I also have a deep affinity for the original Sonic Adventure, the hype I had for that game back in the day was immense, not to mention the fond memories I had of playing it.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Just about anything that Crush 40 had a hand in is usually musical epicness, my top choices being Open Your Heart, Live Life and What I'm Made of...

Non-vocally, I adore act 1 of Windy Valley, Launch Base, Sonic 1's Final Zone, Casinopolis's Sonic pinball table, and many more.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Sonic figure-8 move from Sonic CD, and the way his legs turn into an infinity-symbol shape.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

S3&K and Sonic Adventure, floods of nostalgia emanate from both, especially Adventure, which had a certain music style that I just can't put my finger on, nor has been emulated in any other game since.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

So many of the images from Sonic the Screensaver are up there as some of my favourites.

9PbWQX.png

I have a real fondness for this one because the first time I saw it was as a random picture hung up at my local Sega Park back in the day. I also just plain love all the little details in there.

DA03HJ.jpg

I also love this one because I love me some Christmas stuff, as well as the incredibly humorous implications it has.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

As a whole, I'd have to go with the one we have now. Roger Craig Smith is the best English Sonic we've had do far imo, and many of his fellow cast members are great too. That doesn't go for all of them though. Controversially, I believe Jason Griffith came the closest to capturing Shadow's personality. And my absolute favourite Tails would have to be Christopher Welch from (AoStH).

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

My own or that other fans have come up with? If it's the former, I'm fond of this head-canon I made up for Big, where he has a whole collection of lures that he has sentimental value over.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

The Eggman bases, man! Final Zone, Death Egg, Final Egg, to name a few favourites.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

I'd probably go with something from Sonic Adventure...lets see...Windy Valley?

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

The 20th anniversary year! Sonic Generations was on the horizon, the Archie Sonic comics were doing the Genesis saga, which was proceeded by one hell of a cliffhanger (squirrel guts, anyone?). It was also the second year I made it to Summer of Sonic, even if incredibly late due to lack of a ticket.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The universe as a whole, however inconsistent it may be!

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Jeez...I suppose as he's always been characterised in Japanese media, particularly in the classic era, a far cry from the States' "hip and edgy" persona. Of course, I also have a soft spot for the colossal A-hole that was StC Sonic.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point.

I think Sonic came into my life at just the right point in my childhood, the point that I personally consider my "golden age", when everything stopped being a bizarre blur and really came into focus. That was a magical time. That's really the only explanation I can come up with. It's incredibly hard to say how I've managed to stick with Sonic over all these years, how he became such a huge part of my life, but I guess you could say, "It Doesn't Matter".

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

About 14 years now. I think I played the games for the first time on my grandma's computer when I was 4-5 and I'm 19 now.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

I remember playing Sonic and Knuckles on PC first.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The main character. Sonic hit all the right notes for me as far as character design went. He was fast and animated with tons of attitude. I didn't know much more about him, but I didn't need to. The idea of being able to move that fast with a character that cool was enough.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

I have every main game from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on physically except for Sonic Lost World. That's 10 right there plus the two collection games, the digital copies of Sonic 1, 2 and CD that I have, the Rush games and the Riders games. That's 19 games off the top of my head.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I'm a classic Sonic fan at heart because that's what I started with despite my age range making it way more likely that I would spot Sonic Adventure or something beforehand. I don't have much of a problem with Modern Sonic and enjoy some of the games and characters from that era, but Classic Sonic has a sort of unique mechanical depth and aesthetic style that I love to bits. They say a lot without saying much at all and I can't help but love the minimalist approach to it all. Some Modern Sonic games are pretty fun, but some of the classic titles could stand with other excellent games in the genre.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

I was a fan when I was a kid, but I stopped being a fan around the time Secret Rings came out (unrelated). I came back into this fanbase around the time before Lost World came out (also unrelated). So, depending on how you see it, I've been a Sonic fan since either around 2003, or around 2012.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic Heroes. It also happens to be my favorite Sonic game. This is most likely just a coincidence ;). Funnily enough, I was never able to get all the Chaos Emeralds when I was a kid, so I never actually beat Sonic Heroes until I replayed it about 9 years later.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Most likely a combination of Sonic X, and the Sonic Heroes demo that came with Mario Kart: Double-Dash!!. Probably more Sonic X, though. What brought me back into this franchise was, once again, Sonic X and Sonic Heroes. As well as The Great Clement's Sonic Retrospective.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Let's see: Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic Unleashed (Wii), Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic Lost World, Sonic Rush, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3D Blast, Dr. Robotnik's Mean-Bean Machine, Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic and All-Stars Racing, Sonic Generations, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, Sonic Lost World again, Sonic Dash, Sonic Jump Fever, Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom, Sonic CD again, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed (iOS), and Sonic Runners. I know Runners doesn't work, and neither does Racing Transformed for iOS, but I refuse to delete them. So, I guess I have 27 Sonic games, or 25 if you don't count direct duplicates.

Edit: Since writing this, I've bought Sonic '06. Also, I totally forgot, but I also have Sonic 4, Episodes 1 and 2. That brings the new total up to 30 games, or 28 if duplicates are not counted.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

Modern. Not even close. Though I am happy for all the Classic fans who are finally getting Sonic Mania. I know you guys have been waiting for that for a while.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Tails. In fact, Tails is my favorite fictional character. Not really sure why. He's just the best. Well, except for some stories, but I'll keep this positive.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

I gonna have to go with SEGA, but I have to give a shoutout to Archie and Sonic X.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

This is a hard question, and I feel compelled to give a real answer instead of some joke quote. I'll edit this later.

EDIT: "As a child, I looked up to my grandfather. He was my hero, and I wanted to become a great scientist just like him. But... did he really mean to destroy us?" -Dr. Eggman

I really like this quote. I always thought that it was interesting that Dr. Eggman idolized someone whom he thought was a force for good. Not only that, but when Eggman found out that Gerald had turned evil, he doesn't react with joy that his idol is more like him, he's sad that one of his heroes had fallen from grace. He idolized a good guy for being good. That adds some very interesting characterization to Dr. Eggman for me.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Sonic Adventure 2. The Space Colony Ark, Maria, Gerald Robotnik's shocking reveal, it's all just so great. Shoutouts to the Storybook series, Sonic X, and the Archie comics.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

Sonic X. Possibly only because I've never seen SatAM. I've heard good things about SatAM. Still, my answer is X.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

Sonic Adventure 2, Gerald Robotnik's last words. It's just so haunting and well done.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Heroes. It may not have the strongest story, which is usually a big deal for me, but it just so much fun to play. And at least it's story is still pretty good for what it is.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Vocal: His World. The version with those guys from Zebrahead. It's just an awesome song. Shoutouts to Crush 40 though, especially Knight of the Wind.

Non-vocal: I'm not really sure. I'm gonna call it a tie between the entire Sonic Heroes soundtrack, besides Lost Jungle, and Rooftop Run Act II from Sonic Generations. That seems fair.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Never thought about it, but I'm going to go with the homing attack (do you capitalize names of attacks? Someone PM me.). It's been around all this time for a reason. Not even the spin-dash has as much staying power as the homing attack.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Sonic Heroes. Most likely just because of how much I've listened to it over the years. Shoutout to Sonic and the Secret Rings though. And Sonic '06.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

Oh, umm… let me get back to you on this one.

Edit: 5941f03acdbb6_QuestionaireImage.thumb.PNG.c2ba1c8b8a801d464117fe17e86db771.PNG

This is from Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog- Issue 257. Of the comics that I've read, which are all the ones that came in that Humble Bundle, this one is my favorite. I really love this moment between Sally and Nicole here. Sally is feeling overwhelmed and instead of being controlled by her emotions, like some writers love to do with characters, Sally instead gets told to shut up, do her job, and deal with her issues later, when there isn't a catastrophe. Then she does, because Sally Acorn is a boss.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

4kids. They won me over with the Storybook Series.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

My head-canon is that Dr. Eggman actually has a very strict, but also weirdly-specific moral code. My main thought behind this is from the many monster-of-the-week plots that this series has had. Every time the monster turns on Eggman, and Sonic has to take it out, Eggman always gives up on his evil plan right then and there. Sometimes he even helps Sonic take the monster down. So, as far as I'm concerned, that's an established character trait. The only games that contradict this are Chronicles and Lost World, which I am willing to ignore in order to maintain this head-canon.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

I've always liked urban levels. Cities levels are a core part of Sonic's identity, as far as I'm concerned. Shoutouts to spooky levels too. Those are also part of the identity.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

I guess Rooftop Run Act II from Generations. Man, my answers are all over the place.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

This one. This is the first time I've been around for a game release that I've been excited for. Hopefully I can maintain my Forces hype. Come on E3!

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The community. Seriously, you guys are great!

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

Like I said in my answer for question 21, this is the first time I've been around for the release of a game that I was excited for, so I guess Sonic Forces has my favorite trailer. I especially liked the tone.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

I'm gonna have to go with the Storybook series. I love this franchise, and it's characters, but I don't actually find Sonic to be terribly interesting as a character a lot of the time. The Storybook series made him interesting, so it's definitely doing something right. Shoutout to the Archie comic as well.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

I like the games. I like the characters. I like the world, I like the music, I like gameplay, and I like the story. I'm still around because I still like it. Simple as that.

Well, that's it then. Good survey! I had a lot of fun answering it (but why did I type it on a phone?!). I'll be sure to come back and edit this in order to answer the ones I skipped over. Now to read everyone else's answers!

Here goes.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?
I've been aware for Sonic for most of my lifetime, although usually not paying him much attention, being more of a Mario/Nintendo kid for a lot of it. My first Sonic game was Sonic Rush, getting that around 2008-ish. I still have a liking for that, although I haven't played it recently. Around that time I started to enjoy the designs of the series, particularily Sonic and Tails. Anyway, it wasn't until around early 2013 I became more invested in the series, by that point having the classic games. I started to read more about the Sonic universe and continuities, and I started to read Sonic the Comic which still has a close place to me. I almost wonder if the reason I started liking Sonic was from a specific point in 2012 where a friend and I had drawing competitions, and one day he drew this very deformed thing which happened to be Sonic. Maybe that sparked me to look at his design again since I started to draw him a lot for the second half of 8th grade, coinciding with my growing interest in the universe. Have stuck relatively closely since that point.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

As I said above, Sonic Rush. Haven't played it much recently but I know I like it. I would probably scrutinize it a bit in the level design department today, but it is a bit nostalgic for me. Always preferred Sonic to Blaze, lol. That game was my introduction to Blaze and Cream. The music for that game is a real kick in the ass.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic The Hedgehog series?

Sonic's brilliant design, and it being relatively similar to Mario were the main things to get me to jump. The things to stick me in were of course drawing him, the continuity, playing the classics, and Sonic the Comic. Those are the main things that sorta define how I like Sonic today.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have?

Currently, honestly, not as many as some of you probably. I have 1,2,3,CD, 3D on multiple platforms, Sonic The Fighters, and some of the 8-bit games (courtesy of Gems), the Adventures, Rush, and Colours.

5. Are you more of a classic or modern fan?

I'm honestly not much a fan of segregating ourselves like this as I try to treat the SEGASonic Universe as one competent contiunuous string of time as possible, but I will say I'm more of a pre-1998 or classic fan. I generally prefer the classic designs, and the classics are unrivaled, S3&K is the best designed game in the world in my opinion. Also, this has to do more with how much modern Sonic has been thrown all over the place, but I always feel when I hear the classic Sonic universe of a much more stable universe, but that's because of the shortness of it's duration and not trying to throw stuff at the wall to see what sticks.

6. Who is your favourite Sonic character and why?

Sonic himself. His design is one of the best designs ever made for any media. His attitude, lifestyle, and personality (especially when more chances are taken to make him an arse) are quite admirable. Also his uncompromisable stance. He's Sonic and he'll do what he wants. I've talked about this a lot before.

7. What is your favourite continuity?

That would probably be SEGASonic since that's the "real" Sonic world, but Sonic The Comic's universe is cool, although it gets a bit bloated with a lot of strange characters and places (although not nearly as much as pre-reboot Archie), and OVA is interesting, just for it's portrayals of the main characters, but I'm not an enormous fan of the two worlds thing (and it's really questionable backstory) and some of the side characters become a bit too grading over time. So yeah, SEGASonic.

8. What is your favourite Sonic quote?

(I'm assuming we are only talking about SEGA Sonic here) I honestly don't know which one to choose, so I'll go with one I love that's out of nowhere, from E-102 Gamma.

"Must determine location. Accessing data. No data found. Location unknown. This presents a problem."

Brilliant. The way it's delivered is amazing makes it even better, it's such a hilarious circle around this inconvenience, the way he just deadpans "this presents a problem". Gamma's voice is awesome, btw.

9. What is your favourite story in the Sonic franchise?

(Once again assuming only SEGASonic) This would be 3&K which seamlessly tells an epic, perfectly built around the levels, and it does perfectly what a video game story should do, the story isn't to flaunt around, it's to tell you exactly where you are and why you are seeing what you do and nothing more, the cutscenes giving you the explanations you need. The environments and backgrounds of zones also progressing the story foward. Present day Sonic, take notes.

10. What is your favourite Sonic cartoon?

Overall, it's AoSTH. It's so stupid it's hilarious, it's use of cartoon logic is great and fits very well what Sonic is. It's just a bloody fun time to watch every time. Most of the extra characters here don't get on my nerves either, which is a plus.

11. What is your favourite cutscene from a Sonic game?

I'll cheat a little and give you two, because they are in different contexts.

The first is Sonic CD's opening, and obvious choice, but there's so much it does right, it's ridiculous. I could rave about it all day, but here's actually a pretty cool analysis of it that if a very fun read.

http://jonathantheharris.blogspot.com/2011/06/sonic-cd-intro-movie.html

Now I'm doing a second for a cutscene that happens mid game just so I fit both criteria. And that would be the scene in S3&K where Mecha Sonic powers down, sky sanctuary collapses, and Sonic and Tails run with haste up the collapsing tower and onto the Death Egg, in the ominous audial miasma of no music and only the Death Egg's engines rumbling at the end. It follows the same sucesses of the Sonic CD opening, having no words (to be fair no cutscenes did in S3&K XP) and showing seamlessly our heroes doing something awesome and this huge world.

12. What is your favourite Sonic game?

No contest, Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Great story, great levels, great environments, great minigames, great bosses, great everything. Takes problems with Sonic 2 and fixes them. Makes the world larger and more mysterious. Introduces new character who will be sticking around greatly. And legitimate threats here, scaled up from the first 3 Sonic games. Only complaints I really have with it are some of the levels are actually a bit more linear than you realize at first and some go on for a bit too long. I've said before it's my favourite game of all time, I realization I came to in Lava Reef act 2 in my first playthrough.

13. What is your favourite Sonic track vocal and non-vocal?

Non vocal is easy, Quartz Quadrant present JP. That's a thing of good.

I don't like a lot of the vocal themes as much as most, so I'll just say "It doesn't Matter" SA1 style since that one is pretty rad. Sorry, I don't have very much to say about it XP, I'll just say it's a pretty good description of Sonic's actions and personality, so I like that.

14. What is your favourite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

That would be the rolling attack. Concieved right from the beginning, there's nothing better than rolling down a slope and curling up, using your spines to become both invulnerable and using your spherical shape to move faster. It's great. I love how it slows you down too with friction, so there's a con to it. I wish Sonic in more modern stuff and in more media would be depicted as rolling more since it's awesome.

15. What is your favourite Sonic soundtrack?

That would be Sonic CD JP, every track on that is 10/10, the most funky thing in existence. That soundtrack sells the alien world you are on. Frantic and a bit different from what you are used to, following you with it's own style and personality.

16. What is your favourite image from the series?

I was this close to choosing some Naoto Oshima Sonic poses or some Sonic 1 concept art, but I think I'll go with some thing different. This:

SSS_SONIC65.png

Coming from Sonic Jam. This picture has always stuck with me, showing how I think of Sonic's world. Them running around in a technicolour place with something to see everywhere. It honestly really has stuck with me.

Also, have a bonus non-SEGASonic coolest image, since this one is plenty cool too. XP Coming from issue 52 of Sonic The Comic, the best two-page spread of the entire comic's run

maxresdefault.jpg

17. Which is your favourite Sonic voice cast?

None of them are perfect, but I'll probably go with the Dreamcast cast. A lot of them were terrible at acting, but the tone of their voices always will be special to me, something magical that you can't describe very well, very much like the original voices for the Magic School Bus, something that just screams classic to you.

18. What is your main/favourite Sonic headcannon?

This one will be a little odd, but it's my theory that there are two sets of chaos emeralds and the things set around them. This resulted from the Sonic 3 backstory needing two sets of emeralds to work right. I'll just post my old stuff here from it:

So Chaos Emeralds:

Quote

-Existed at full power and diamond cut forms and were controlled and under the influence of the echidnas, along with the Master Emerald, which has the main purpose of cancelling out the Chaos Emerald's power in necessary.

-After the Echidnas vanished, the lands of the Echidnas becomes separated from the planet's surface and becomes Angel Island, with the Master Emerald being the object that could control the flight.

-The emerald's power are weakened by the big 7 being split into two pairs and being made harder to find by one of the sets being removed and set far away from the other. The other set are sent down to the surface where they have effects on the lands they inhabit,

-The weakened Chaos Emeralds form dimensions around themselves called special zones in which people need to access and survive through to gain control of the emeralds and their power. If you have enough ring energy, you can access these special zones. On places like South Island, the gateways are natural and are objects like giant rings. On Westside Island, the inhabitants became familiar with the properties of the Chaos Emeralds and were able to form gateways called starposts which need a similar amount of ring energy to the natual ones and worked in the same way. These Westisde peoples now took possession of this set of emeralds and built the Hidden Palace Zone found in Westide Island. Similar to how the Echidnas did, they abused these chaos emerald's power and were exhumed from this reality, leaving the hidden palace in silence.

-The Chaos Emeralds on Angel Island were affected and retreated to the special zones when the Death Egg hit the first time from their respective outside altars described in the Sonic 3 manual. When Knuckles attacked Sonic and grabbed his emeralds, the rings you find send you into special zones to find the Angel Island chaos emeralds that retreated to the special zone when the death egg hit, making the ones you find in the first half of 3K the Angel Island set. The reason why you don't need ring energy to access the big rings here is because this is Angel Island where the Chaos Emerald's power is much more ambient and stronger than elsewhere due to the Master Emerald's proximity. The emeralds that Knuckles take, he puts them into the hidden palace zone due to the altars in the S3 manual being highly damaged and having nowhere else to put them. When he does they form giant black diamond cut shapes that have no energy in their current state. Unknowing what to do with them at the moment, he leaves the hidden palace, letting Sonic in. Sonic stands on the central platform, and releases his chaos emeralds which expose the super emerald altars and allow him to access additional special zones which I think are just symbolic of adding the two emerald's powers together, making the Super Emeralds complete for the first time since the adventure flashbacks and thus making them complete.

-This is perhaps the reason why the emeralds in all following games have the diamond cut shape, they are the complete super emeralds. I do not know why they are apart from Angel Island in later releases, but this could explain why they are smaller in shape since they don't have as high energies as they would when powered in the hidden palace.

 Yeah.

19. What is your favourite recurring level theme?

Jungle. Gotta love the jungles, always good. Jungle Zone, Aquatic Ruin Zone, Angel Island Zone, Marble Garden Zone, Mystic Ruins and Lost World, Adabat.

Always liked Jungles, always loved the mystique and the organisms that live in them so it's always food to see the Sonic takes on them, they're often some of the best looking places in the series as well as some of the most atmopsheric.

20. What is your favourite level from the Sonic series?

Lava Reef Zone. I'll send a link to an older post about how much I like it and let my past self do the talking:

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2013 for me, just because it was the year I got invested in the series. Go above to see more on that. You can tell this marathon is starting to tire me XP

22. What is your one favourite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Just ONE? Sonic's design. One of the best designs in history, like I've said.

6650030f96493704b0808632932dd577.png

That was what got me into the series before anything else. I could give an analysis of his whole design but I would just bore everyone to death. So I'll just say it's good.

23. What is your favourite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

I'll be honest and say I don't really know, trailers aren't my strong suit. I'll just say Mania since I WAS THERE FOR THAT SHEIT

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favourite version of Sonic and why?

More reading material for you. Sorry, but I'll just be repeating myself here.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Drawing Sonic and friends, the fascination with some of them in general, the continuity, how well the classics were designed and the ideas that went into them, and the maybe someday realized future of making a proper 3D momentum based Sonic game, akin to Utopia. It'll always be interesting what people will come up with reguarding Sonic. Even if this series completely dies one day, I'll still find fun in the design of both the games and the characters, and drawing them and thinking up situations for them, so there's that. Yep.

Well, let me give this a shot.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Since 2002, if my memory's correct.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle on the Gamecube.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

I don't know, really. Must have been the fact that it was a game my brother was playing, though it helped that he tended to play a lot of cool games (and in fact, still does). And the game looked cool. I wasn't really aware of any rivalry between Mario and Sonic at the time; to me, they kinda complemented each other. Ironically, I've since managed to keep up with the series better than my brother did.

4. How many Sonic games donyou currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

I counted my collection, though I counted the compilations as one game, too. I'd say I counted 27, though I'm sure it's a bigger number than that.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I guess I'm more of a modern fan. There's things about it that appeal to me more than classic, though I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy Classic.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

I've never been too clear on that. I tend to like most of the cast in most games. That said, I've leaned towards Amy Rose on more than one occasion. As for why? Haven't been too clear on that, but I suppose she can be a pretty loyal and caring one on her better portrayals. Of course, I suppose it all depends, and again, I've leaned towards others as well. I hate being bad at explaining my positiin sometimes.

That's all I got for now.

10, maybe 11 years

2. What was your first Sonic game?

It was either Sonic Advance or SA2B.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Watching my brother and his friend play SA2B. I thought the characters, aesthetics, cutscenes, and music were fantastic.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Uhhh I only own like 3. Yet I've still managed to play and put alot of time into the popular ones over the years.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

Modern.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Sonic. Cause he's one of the coolest looking and acting characters I've seen in any type of media (although the cool-acting part has kinda been lost in recent games)

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

SEGA.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

"Talk about a low-budget flight, no food or movies? I'm outta here! I like running better."

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

SA2.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

Sonic X.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

The cutscene before Sonic and Shadow's final battle in SA2.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

I can't pick one! It's a tie between Heroes and SA2B. My favorite handheld title is Sonic Advance 2

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Vocal: City Escape

Non-vocal: Modern Rooftop Run

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

SA2's homing attack

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

It's way too hard to pick one lol. Some of my favorites are SA2, Heroes and Sadv2.

City levels.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

City Escape.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2003, that's around the time I really fell in love with the franchise.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Some of the most important aspects of the games that helped me fall in love with the franchise in the first place are no longer present in most recent games. So I'm gonna say Sonic, the character himself, as he is the only reason I still buy the games.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

Like 90% of the reason I like this is the dope music.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Adventure era Sonic. He had a cooler, edgier personality than right now and I loved the way he was portrayed in alot of Uekawa's 2D art that helped portray that cool personality.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

I'm hoping SOMEDAY they make a Sonic game that's generally regarded as fantastic and has alot of the stuff that helped me fall in love with the franchise in the first place. I love both Mario and Sonic and right now my favorite game is Mario Galaxy 2. If a Sonic game was made with as much quality as that game, it'd be my new favorite since I prefer Sonic's character and themes over Mario's. I don't know when/if there will ever be that dream game, but that's what I'm hoping for.

Alrighty, I'm feeling up for another five questions.

11. Favourite Cutscene:

This scene is one of wo-GAH HOW'D THAT GET THERE!?

rxzNBzk.gif

*Ahem*

latest?cb=20140628125848

Ah, there we go. Yep, it's one of the most iconic moments in the Adventure moments for me, and one of the final moments where I saw Eggman as a truly evil bastard of a villain. Everything about this scene solidified a point where Eggman went from goofy villain of the Classics to evil maniac of the Adventure series. A moment well foreshadowed even before hand.

It starts in the second to last Sonic level of the game. Crazy Gadget. Sonic's about to stop Eggman's plans by throwing the fake chaos emerald into the eclipse cannon, until Eggman calls him out. Well, you'd expect Eggy's usual evil rant and "don't do that!" right? Wrong. Eggman reveals he's captured Amy and if Sonic isn't there within minutes, she's done. Sonic immediately runs off with the emerald in toll and we go to Crazy Gadget. We get to the final part of the stage, the gravity blocks, and Eggman says something odd. "You'll never leave this room alive". Now, we could take this as him simply taunting Sonic that he won't make it past the gravity blocks...but given what happens next, no. It's definitely a huge foreshadowing taunt that Eggman had,

Sonic finally catches up to the two, and then we see it. Eggman is holding Amy at gunpoint. For a character who til this point, who was just using random bug robots and mechs to try take out his foes, this really showed Eggman was not messing around this time. He was close to winning, he had the entire world at gunpoint, and he sure as hell wasn't going to let Sonic take his victory away from him. But he just wants Sonic's emerald right? Sonic gets a cocky smile and starts with his cocky attitude again, as Eggman orders him to place the emerald in the centre of the room, and back off.

Sonic gets cocky as he begins walking towards the room's centre. "You've hit the big time Doctor!". Until suddenly, Sonic gets to the centre, and he finds himself locked in a glass capsule. Eggman taunts his foe, and then with his genius, he manages to trick Tails. "But how did you know the emerald was a fake!?" Tails shouts out, as Sonic himself realises Eggman's play and tries to stop Tails. "Because you just told me fox boy!". With that line, Eggman truly does move to the big leagues. He's manipulated Sonic, Amy, and Tails and played all of them for chumps. He sends Sonic off to his death, and if you're playing the Dark story, he proceeds to kick Tails' ass in his Egg Walker.

12. What is your favourite Sonic game?

Sonic Adventure will likely always be my favourite Sonic game, because it's the game that solidified me as a Sonic fan. While I was a fan of the series before hand, Adventure DX was the game that really got me to love the series and want to stick with it. Now, I played SA1 and SA2B out of order, and had played SA2B before SA1. I loved Sonic and Shadow's gameplay and City Escape became one of my favourite levels, but SA1 just blew it out of the park for me. Sonic and Tails' gameplay were extremely fun, and Tails' gameplay is what I wanted from Tails from the literal very beginning since I played Heroes. Knuckles was really fun due to the much more enclosed space. Even Amy was alright, even if her speed was decreased. Big was shit, I won't lie, but Gamma was also pretty fun.

But on top of that, I loved a lot of the music in the game, the open areas I thought were really damn cool to run around with Sonic, Tails and Knux, I loved how much of an overall adventure the entire game felt like as you travelled from various locations, I liked the story, thinking the whole mythos with the echidnas, and Chaos was pretty damn awesome, and I liked a lot of the banter the characters had with each other. Does it have issues? Oh most certainly, but do I still love the game all the same? Definitely.

Honorable Mentions:

2. Unleashed

3. Generations

4. 3&K

5. SA2

13. Favourite Vocal/Non Vocal tunes:

For those who've been to my streams and know how much I fucking spam this theme:

Love this theme a lot since I discovered it last year. Love the fast paced rhythm, the vocals, the blend of instruments, and just really love this song. It fits really damn well with the fast-pace the Riders series had and just had a kickass melody to it.

But, special mention to this:

I fucking adore this song. I love it. The calm and soft melody contrasts really well to the epic Dark Gaia Phase 2 theme, and it feels like an overall really damn cap off to Unleashed, as well as being a great song about Chip's growing friendship with Sonic. It felt like such a great reward after growing with Unleashed's story, and felt rather bittersweet in a good way due to the end of Chip's arc. I'm not lying. I heard this song one night on YouTube, and this literally inspired me to not only finish Unleashed for the very first time but also 100% it, including the fucking hot dog missions. This song is the reason why.

Proof: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/38-sonic-unleashed/ryannumber3gamer

Honorable Mentions:

His World (Zebrahead)

With Me (Original, not the Crush 40 version)

Open your Heart

Knight of the Wind

Non Vocal:

My favourite theme in Unleashed, I love the epic remix of Endless Possibilities but it's also a lot of the build-up to that point that makes this one of my favourites. As I mentioned before, one of the best things Unleashed did in my eyes was the world-building and characters, which really made you care for the world itself and want to save it, so this felt like the most epic tune to play when trying to save everyone from Dark Gaia's evil. I think it's awesome.

Runners Up:

-Chemical Plant Modern

-Metal Harbour

-Desert Ruins Act 2

14. What is your favourite Sonic move?

Knuckles' uppercut.

latest?cb=20131010230320

No real reason, I just think it looks cool. Homing attack is second place.

15. Favourite soundtrack?

SA2, with SA1 and Unleashed as Runners Up. I love the musical variety of SA2, and I just really enjoy a ton of the themes in the game. Personal favourites are...

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

I've been a fan since 05 so well over 10 years!

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic Advance 3 I believe.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Cream and Shadow. Those two characters were just the bee's knees in my eyes back then.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

I currently have about 4.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I'm more of a modern fan mainly due to liking the modern sonic character designs.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

latest?cb=20161010105318

To be honest I just really like how Ray looks and his animations in SEGASonic Arcade won me over. He's just a trooper.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Archie! Mainly because they give the lesser known gamecast a chance to shine! Like Bean, Bark, Fang, Wendy Witchkart and heaps of others!

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

"I'm an ageless alien hybrid and angst ridden. What do you want, new jokes?" - Shadow the hedgehog, Sonic Universe issue 4

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Oh shit. That's a tough one. My money would probably would have to go with Archie Sonic 175. That was one hell of a ride with Sonic being pushed to his limits by Eggman and still getting his butt handed to him. The mood was so strong it hooked me into buying Archie Sonic for a long time. That and the end of Enerjak Reborn really sent a strong message to me that Sonic could easily do good stuff.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

Sonic X. It's the only one I've watched properly. Plus Cream does a missile dropkick in the show.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

The intro to Shadow the hedgehog. Yeah, the game sucks but man did the intro make the angst ridden fucker look badass.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Advance 3/Sonic CD

Both are tied for being so fun and colourful and while both game's level design is a bit blah in places both games are just so hard to put down once I play them... well until I rage quit due to the special stages or getting lost.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

For vocal it's a tie between Sonic Boom by TJ Davis and Endless Possibilities by Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup

Non vocal it's also a tie. Non Aggression from Sonic Advance 3 and Wrapped in Black from Sonic Rush.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

I'm going to go with an odd one.

Bean's entire moveset really shows off that while he's a wacky character he's not afraid to really hit hard and those pecks to the face I'd imagine would really hurt.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Sonic Rush by a country mile. I love nearly all the tracks because they are so catchy, upbeat and really fun. Sonic Colours is a distant second.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

RCO015.jpg

This entire page especially panel 3 from Archie Sonic issue 184 was a real doozy for me. Now I don't care for Locke one iota but looking at Panel three really did speak to me on some kind of strange level. I rarely forget a well draw facial expression and panel three was burned into my mind the day I read issue 184 ever since. A really, really strong image in my mind.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

Modern era. They just fit so much better than the Dreamcast or Sonic X era to me.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

I like to think that Ray is around the Sonic cast but he's too shy and nervous to go on any adventures. hehe

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

Space levels for me. I love Space.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Egg Fleet from Sonic Heroes. That level did a bang up job making you feel like you were in the stratosphere and that one false move and you were boned!

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2011. Holy moly the energy and the hype was glorious!

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Ray. Little bugger helped me out of my depression and gave me an outlet to focus on.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

Sonic Mania, I was watching that stream and seeing everyone lose their minds was just great to see. It sure as hell made up for Crush 40's awful music.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

A toss up between CD's design and Modern Sonic. I can't choose man!

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

I don't know to be honest. Maybe my imagination just can't get those furballs go...

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

I wanna say since around 2002 or 2003. I don't remember how I first discovered Sonic, if it was through just word of mouth, Sonic X, or the games, but I must've been either 7 or 8. I fell out of the fanbase around when Sonic Lost World was coming out and got back into it late 2015, mostly out of curiosity as to why a Sonic game hadn't been announced yet at that time.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. I got it alongside my Gamecube for what I think was my birthday. That game was my jam as a kid~ My opinion has changed a lot on it since then though, but I still have a soft spot for it. It was the first game I ever played that really engrossed me and didn't feel like I was just playing it just cause that's what you do with video games.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

I think it was mostly Sonic's design and personality, as well as the fast paced energy of the games.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

If we're counting compilations as single games then 45 in total.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I'm mostly just a Classic fan. Imo those games are much more solidly made, well thought out, and have an appealing consistent aesthetic and tone. That said, I do have a soft spot for the games from SA1-Sonic Rush, and a couple of the games after that I like ok enough.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

That'd have to go to Sonic, Classic Sonic specifically. I feel like that design works best with his cocky attitude as he has a really cute look to him which helps offset it and make him less obnoxious which I feel like Modern Sonic can be sometimes. Also his design in general is just fantastic and quite possibly the best character design ever made. I could write a whole paragraph explaining why, but instead I'll just link this:

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

The official Sega continuity up to SA1.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

It'd definitely have to be "Talk about low budget flights, no food or movies... I'm outta here!" As a kid I thought it was super cool and I loved it. As an adult I think it's endearingly cheesy and I love it even more.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Probably S3&K's story. It told a neat little story that pushed you along through the game, gave context to things, and gave the characters a chance to shine, all without any of that dialogue stuff.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

The Sonic OVA. Imo that is the perfect translation of the games to animation, minus the weird Princess Sara, Planet Freedom stuff (It works for that OVA though so whatevs).

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

I don't think I need to explain why this is the best thing ever.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I'd explain why, but I'd really just be beating a dead horse. I like it for the same reasons everyone else does lol.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

For non-vocal I have no clue, there are so many phenomenal tracks I can't pick a favourite. There is one though which, I dunno if I'd say is my "favourite", but is one I really love and find myself going back to time and time again.

God this takes me back. It's the only Sonic track that I have such vivid memories with. Just hearing it reminds me of flipping through the comics and art in Mega Collection, and just like being totally engrossed by Yuji Uekawa's drawings. This track to me really encapsulates the feeling of my playing Sonic in my childhood.

As for vocal tracks, honestly I have a real soft spot for Believe in Myself from SA1.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Probably the insta-shield. It was a great way to make Sonic stand out from the other characters in S3&K.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

SA1's with Sonic CD's JP soundtrack reeeeally close behind.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

I honestly can't pick a favourite, there's so many iconic drawings and shots that I'd feel like I'm leaving something important out if I tried to narrow it down.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

I really feel like the original Drummond cast really fit their characters well (with the exception of Deem Bristow. Not that he's bad, but I feel like Mike Pollock fits Eggman much better). It's a shame the direction they were given during that time wasn't, like, good.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

I don't really do head-canon stuff, sorry.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

Probably ancient ruin type levels. Marble Zone, Aquatic Ruin Zone, Lost World. S'pretty good stuff.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

It's a tossup between Starlight Zone, Aquatic Ruin Zone, Ice Cap Zone, and Ice Paradise Zone. Though I have a feeling when Mania comes out, Studiopolis Zone is gonna take 1st place for me.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

Not entirely for good reasons, but probably late 2005-2006 with the buildup to Sonic 06. I was just a kid and up until that point I enjoyed every mainline Sonic game that came out till that point. Then Shadow the Hedgehog came out and when I first heard about it I was like "ooh, ok, uh.. that's kinda weird but whatever", and later when I played it I was left kinda disappointed, but I just kinda figured that it just wan't for me and not that it was a bad game (it's a bad game). Also I thought "well it's a spinoff (I guess??) and I'm sure the next one will be better." Then the advertising campaign for 06 started and I was so excited, I had no reason not to be at the time. I have such fond memories watching the trailers for it on tv, and talking with friends about it on the playground about what we were excited for in it and how we'd hope it'd be like. I also have this really distinct memory playing the demo in a WalMart and having a conversation with this other kid about Sonic and how my best friend at the time managed to raise a Tails Chao.

Then eventually a little after the game came out, I bought it as a "present" for my uncle (I didn't have a 360 at the time but he did, so I basically just bought it for myself to play at his house lol). I didn't see any of the reviews for it at the time, or if I had I didn't pay them any heed, and I put it in the 360 and started playing. It was like a slow burn noticing all the problems with the game. I was like "oh geez these loading screens are taking a long time", "why is sonic so like slippery and slow?", Why are there so many loading screens in a row??", "WHAT CAN'T I JUMP INTO ENEMIES???", and "I CAN'T STOP RUNNING OFF OF THIS LOOP AND DYING AND AS SOON AS I GET ON IT I CAN'T MOVE AND ASDFLASFALNSFHRGRF." I put the controller down and that was it, the first time I've ever been truly disappointed by a video game. My childhood sense of wonder and joy, shattered.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The momentum and physics based gameplay of the classics is probably the main thing outside of the aesthetics of the classic games. It's the main thing that keeps bringing me back to play them. It's a shame they've never fully brought that kind of gameplay and freedom into 3D.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Probably Saturn-era Sonic. His look is much more streamlined and refined than how he looked on the Genesis and it's much more visibly striking imo. It's also more flexible, making it possible for more interesting poses.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Honestly, if not for Mania and its sequels (hopefully), I might not still be here.

A questionnaire? Okay, then:

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Since around 2004, I believe, so roughly 12-13 years. Though I didn't get massively attached to the series until about 2008.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic Heroes on PS2. Yeah, not exactly a great start, but my 8 year old self didn't care back then.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Honestly, I have no clue. I guess I was just kinda drawn to the series, for some reason.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Off the top of my head, I currently own the original trilogy (& Knuckles) on Mega Drive (as well as the Xbox 360 and Wii), along with Advance 1 (GBA), Classic Collection (DS), Mega Collection Plus (PS2), both Adventure games (X360/PS3), Sonic The Fighters (X360/PS3), Unleashed (X360), and finally... a signed copy of Sonic 06 (X360).

I also have Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (DS) and the Lego Dimensions (PS4) Sonic Pack, if they count.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

As much as I grew up with the Modern games... I'd say that I'm more of a Classic fan overall. I find myself coming back to Sonic 2, 3K and CD more than the later games.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

EGGMAN NEGA! I'd say that my favourite is probably Blaze the Cat, as I found her story and gameplay in the Rush games to be some of the most interesting content from the Modern era. A close second would be Metal Sonic, for just how determined he can be to defeat Sonic once and for all.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Archie (mainly the reboot, as I hadn't read much of the original continuity before Worlds Collide) since I felt it handled Sonic's world and personality much better than most other continuities have. Even SEGA can't seem to keep his main character traits the same for each consecutive game. Plus, the Archie continuity officially brought two of my favourite video game franchises together for a brilliant crossover... the first time round.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

I love the way that this line was delivered by Deem Bristow. It clearly indicated that Eggman had just had enough: his Egg Carrier was sunk(ish), Chaos had been (presumably) defeated for good, and his backup plan was thwarted by Tails. At that point, he just wanted Tails gone for good.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Unleashed, since it truly felt like a grand adventure to explore and save the world. Not just a couple of areas, like the Adventure games, but the WHOLE world. And it did so without losing any sense of fun or humour, and having genuinely heartfelt moments. It's the kind of story that I'd love to see being tackled again in the future.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

It's a toss-up between either the OVA (for the animation, world design, and Metal Sonic) or Boom (for most of the humour, character dynamics, and Metal Sonic).

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

...Does this count? 'Cause I still think this is the best introduction to a Sonic game yet:

As a runner-up, I'd say pretty much any of the Sonic Dimensions cutscenes:

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Undoubtedly Sonic 3, it's the one that I always return to when I'm in a Sonic-y mood. Everything about it just works brilliantly, and I don't think any other Sonic game has topped it for me yet. (Although, with Mania on the way... who knows?)

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Vocally, it's this for me:

For non-vocal, this has been stuck in my head ever since it was released:

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

As useless as it really is, I've always loved the Light Speed Attack from Sonic Adventure 1&2. Maybe it's just because I love the idea of taking out a large amount of enemies in one fell swoop, but it's a move that I still (try to) use whenever I can in those games. For an actually useful move, however, I'll go with the Spin Dash.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Bit of a cop-out answer, but I think Generations remains my favourite. The selection of remixes and the few unique compositions on the soundtrack are wonderful in my opinion (minus a certain Modern track...) and I find myself listening to it often when writing or drawing. Unleashed is a very close second, though.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

1zm0a4i.jpg

From Sonic Universe #1. I remember seeing this for the first time, and ending up in hysterics. That image, along with most of the issue itself, is what got me to begin reading the comics.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

I'd say the current voice cast overall, though I prefer some of the older voices for a few characters.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

I haven't really looked into head-canons much, so I don't have a favourite right now. I do have a head-canon on how to rework Eggman Nega's backstory to fit into both the Rush and Rivals games, so... I guess there's that.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

Probably ice/snow levels. I like how calm the setting can be, while also being a little unpredictable (e.g. Sonic Adventure's Ice Cap Zone, where the music is rather somber and low-key, until the awesome snowboarding section).

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Green Forest from Sonic Adventure 2. I thought it had a great balance of high speed and platforming, with some awesome music to boot. Plus, I like when stages have a time-limit to them, even if you'd have to go pretty slow to fail.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2012, as it was the first time I went to the Summer of Sonic event, and got to meet so many other fans of the series. Before then, it was rare that I'd meet anyone who was even remotely interested in Sonic, or video games in general.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

I dunno, really. It's kinda hard to think of something that's stuck around for a long time in this franchise. I guess there's the character designs, which are definitely iconic at this point. So... I'll just go with that for now.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

I was ecstatic when Mania was revealed. It's amazing to see such a well-crafted celebration of Sonic's origins coming to the current generation, and I picked the Nintendo Switch trailer since I'm probably gonna get it on that over the PS4, honestly. Pity that the actual reveal was kinda botched for everyone who wasn't at the 25th Anniversary Party...

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Probably Archie Sonic (post-reboot, since I haven't read enough of the old continuity to judge him pre-reboot). While he's more-or-less on par with SEGA Sonic in terms of personality ('cause, well, he kinda had to) I think that Ian Flynn's writing makes this Sonic more interesting overall, and I find myself wanting to read more about this Sonic's adventures. If there was more consistency in terms of Sonic's personality between the games, then I'd probably like SEGA Sonic just as much.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

As of now, it's mostly the discussions about Sonic games that keep me around. Sonic Mania is keeping me interested in the games too, but then there's Sonic Forces... Still, I honestly don't think I'll be running out of enthusiasm for Sonic anytime soon.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SATnam, OVA...)

The Archie continuity. I felt that there were some really neat writing and characterisation moments and some of the art there was pretty good! It was interesting to see the other cast like Sally and Nicole being in the comic as well! It used to be the SEGA continuity but after Lost World, I felt Archie was better in terms of character.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? It can come from any character.

I do love me some funny quotes, such as Eggman's PR announcements from Colors and some of the lines from the Boom TV show, but my favorite quote comes from Sonic during the Black Knight game-

"It was never about chivelary for me! I've just gotta do what I've gotta do that's all!"

I really liked this quote mainly because it showcases that Sonic is not only a cocky character, it shows that he can get serious in these situations. I felt that quote captured Sonic's never give up attitude, I guess he doesn't focus on honor, he focuses on doing what he thinks is right.

9. What is your favorite story from the Sonic Franchise?

Sonic Unleashed. I felt it had a good balance of plot, character, and humor. Sonic was really nicely done here during his interactions with Chip, and the cutscenes were nicely animated as well. Worth noting there's some neat lines and moments, such as "Do I need a reason to help out a friend?" And Eggman actually tricking Sonic and literally ripping the Emeralds out of him.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

This is actually my 10 year anniversary. Really got into the series in early 2007. I'd say that I'm surprised it's been this long but, looking around, I almost feel like I'm still a newbie. XD

2. What was your first Sonic game?

First Sonic game I ever touched was Heroes. The first Sonic game that I ever purchased, completed, and got me into the series was Rush.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The sense of speed you can obtain. The thrill of moving extremely fast captivated me from the very start as it's just something most other series don't offer.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Counting Duplicates: At least 51. I mostly blame the fact that I own multiple consoles and usually end up buying the other version of games I already have if that version is said to be better in any way.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I really don't like labeling it like that but I would say I'm more of a modern fan. It's not that I don't appreciate and love the classics, it's just that I'm here because and stay for more of the modern experiences.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Tails. I don't really have a specific reason but when the character is done well, he's done really damn well. A freakishly smart 8 year old that can fly planes and build shit to rival Eggman? That's just awesome and I wish the series would utilize his character traits (and this goes with every character really) gained from other games more often.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

X...

Ok hear me out, while I hate the human segments as much (if not more) than the next guy. I will say that I did like what it brought and added to the main Sonic cast in general. Hell, there's even stuff in there, like the Blue Typhoon, that I would love to see incorporated into the current game series. It's far from the best show but, in terms of a continuity that I can actually see in the main game series if it had more depth put into it... this is it.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

"All's well that ends well, right?"- Tails, SA1

As the entire cast looks out onto a devastated city... Like, I know it wasn't on purpose but if the series actually had that kind of humor all the time I'd be dying. XD

Runner Up: "You fool, away! Before I make mince meat out of you." ... it was really close honestly.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

I have to go with Unleashed for its pure scope. Not to mention its ability to balance casual, light-hearted antics and an actually serious plot line. A close runner up would be Black Knight but that just doesn't have the scope to it. I mean a grand world adventure all wrapped in a well presented package? Sign me up!

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

SatAM. It just does everything it sets out to do so incredibly well. Hell, it's still probably holds some of the best serious plots we've gotten out of the entire franchise. My only fault with it is that a lot of its elements can't actually be incorporated into the main series.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

Sonic Unleashed's Opening. I know it's an easy choice that just about everyone is going to pick but there's a bloody reason for that. It's everything I love about this franchise all wrapped in the best animation the series has seen hands down. Not to mention starting off a grand game like Unleashed in its full presentation and this choice is a no-brainer for me.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Unleashed. Talk about a Sonic game trying to be more than just your average platformer. It tries to deliver on all fronts and definitely succeeds on a number of them. I can overlook the shortcomings like medal collecting because the overall package just has so much heart put into it and because I legitimately have a good time whenever I play it. It showed me just how far this series can go in terms of a fully realized game package and it's something I hope is matched (or surpassed) soon. To me, it's the pinnacle of what this series is.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

This is sort of a hard one for me as my answers change quite often. Though for right now...

Vocal: Endless Possibilities

Non-Vocal: Modern Rooftop Run from Generations

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Oh, this is about to step on some toes... it's gotta be the boost honestly. As a mechanic that makes this series stand out from anything else, it delivers exactly what I want from the franchise to begin with; speed. While I know for a fact that it can lead to some problems in level design, I can't say I honestly care when I actually sit down and play through the levels. It's just fun at that point. Using it to speed run and chain your movements past obstacles and the like.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Generations, hands down. It just holds the most tracks that I can always come back and listen to. The only downside to it is that there's no real vocal track.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

hqdefault.jpg

... what?

Spoiler

150822-Sonic_Unleashed_(USA)_(En,Ja,Fr,D

Ok, but really though. This would be it. Never has a promotional image ever captured a sonic game so well.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

Honestly, the Boom one. There's just so much talent there and you can actively tell that they like what they're doing. Even in a shitty game like RoL with a piss poor script they were able to bring energy to it.

Though, I will say that there aren't really any cast that I actually hate.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

I don't know... maybe that Sonic doesn't actually have a house and just sleeps on roofs? I can't really say, never really gave head-canons much thought here as the series rarely ever connects game to game that way.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

It's honestly a dead tie between a city theme and ice theme. Both, when done right, can look damn good.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Cool Edge from Unleashed. That level just takes the ice theme and completely nails every aspect of it. I just wish the night segment could have also been a part of the day time level. Those northern lights there are spectacular!

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

2011. The hype leading up to Generations was so thick that you could cut it with a knife probably. It was right off the positivity of Colors and the series was honestly looking up. Add in those fan events for the anniversary and it being my first real year on here and yeah... I was on a bit of a Sonic high at the time. XD

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

I think this requires the same answer I gave for 3. It's the speed. The ability to move through a level like no other platformer out there. To speed run and try to get your level time down by seconds.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

"Sega Proudly Presents"

That still gives me chills. I may not be as crazy into Mania like everyone else here seems to be but damn did this not put a smile on my face unlike any other. You could feel the excitement with it. Add in the general positivity of it all (those crowd reactions wow) and this has to be the best announcement trailer of any Sonic game.

Though, that Sonic Unleashed E3 trailer is still the best trailer this series has ever seen. Actually, if there is a better trailer for a game out there... I have yet to see it. I really hope we get something like it for Forces at this upcoming E3.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Hm, this is a hard one... I'd have to say that the version for Black Knight is my favorite by a bit. It just nailed that hero side of him that they had been trying for the past decade at that point before they decided to turn him into a cheesy comedian. He was both laid back, active, and a bit snarky which I still believe is the perfect balance for the character.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

A number of things honestly. The speedy gameplay, the characters, the roller coaster ride it always is to release, and even some of you guys here aren't so bad. :V

Honestly, Sonic is just one of the few franchises that I'm actively alive in for the lows and highs. It and the people who also love it have introduced me to a lot of other things that I love now as well. It's been the bases of my video game life for a decade now. Even through rough patches I always see myself right there when the next main Sonic game comes out. It's a weird sense of stability that has always been there through this half of my life.

I may not act like it at times, but I do really fucking love this series. Even when it does piss me off with some of its more... unique choices.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. It's just good enough.

I like the basics,so my choice is the SpinDash. Simple move, but just effective.

Okay, here I go.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

This one is actually the trickiest to remember as I can't really remember that far back however it is at least for 20 years, maybe 21 so when I was 8 or 9 years old (1996-1997).

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic 1 on the Genesis, it was on a multi cart along with 5 other Sega games and also perhaps my first ever game too. Just depends whether I played World Rally in an arcade first, my memory of that era is pretty bad. Funnily enough, Sonic Jam could have been my first Sonic game however my mum bought me a Mega Drive instead of the Saturn on the account of less buttons on the controller as well as it was cheaper and it was a cartridge based system so I wouldn't break it (even though I looked after my games very well as it turns out).

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Hmmm... I just thought that Sonic was cool, he was blue that is my favorite color and that I really liked his cartoony character design. It wasn't about the games though since apparently I was aware of him before I played a game however after playing the first two games, Triple Trouble and watching both Sonic cartoons I was hooked with the series. He was also the big thing at the time like Pokemon was shortly afterwards.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Ouch... I have plenty of games in general and the Sonic series is only a very very small part of it. Overall around 54, it also includes duplicates of Sonic 1 and 2 due to non-Sonic focused compliations/ports, handheld versions and alternate versions of games. The only main games that I don't have are Shadow, Sonic 06 and the Sonic Boom series. Sonic Mania will makes this 55 overall.

If you want to go into more detail then:

Sonic 1 (via Mega 6 multicart, Mega Drive Collection on PSP, Ultimate Mega Drive Collection on PS3, Sega 3D Classics Collection, Taxman ports), Sonic 2 (Mega Drive, Mega Drive Collection, Ultimate Mega Drive Collection, Taxman ports), Sonic CD (PS3 and Mobile), Sonic 3 (Mega Drive, Ultimate Mega Drive Collection), Sonic & Knuckles (Mega Drive, Ultimate Mega Drive Collection), Sonic Spinball (Mega Drive, Ultimate Mega Drive Collection), Sonic 1 (Master System), Sonic 2 (Master System), Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure DX (Gamecube, technically Dreamcast Collection on the 360), Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic Advance, Sonic Heroes (Gamecube, Xbox), Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Mega Collection + (Xbox), Sonic Riders (Xbox), Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, Sonic Rivals, Sonic Rivals 2, Sonic Riders Zero Gravity (Wii), Sonic Unleashed (PS3), Sonic Unleashed (Wii), Mario & Sonic Beijing (Wii, DS), Vancouver (Wii, DS), London (Wii), Sochi (Wii U), Rio (Wii U), Sega Superstars Tennis (PS3, DS I count this as a Sonic game due to not only is he front and centre on the box but also part of the AllStars series), Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (PS3, DS), Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PS3, Vita), Sonic Colours (Wii), Sonic Colours (DS), Sonic Generations (PS3), Sonic Generations (3DS), Sonic Lost World (Wii U).

I also have a Chinese multicart on the Game Gear that has Sonic & Tails 2 however it is excluded on this list due to its bootleg status. It was how I played Triple Trouble.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

It is more closer than it was in the past but I am more of a Classic Sonic fan mainly due to his character design as well as enjoying more of the games where he appeared in. I don't mind Modern Sonic though and actually really like his character from Unleashed onwards as well as the games from that period and some enjoyment regarding Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and Advance. I do find the Classic/Modern divide a bit silly though, Sonic is Sonic.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Sonic himself is my favorite character! I really like his design that Naoto Ohshima has done making him have what people consider a timeless look and Uekawa's redesign is appealing reimagining Sonic as a cool character. I just like his carefree but also helpful attitude towards things. He has a uplifting spirit even when things seem very bad and his voice regardless of version has a cool teenager tone about it. He's someone who will stop Eggman at all costs but also protects his friends and even try to resolve rivalries with others. Plus some of the quotes that he says are quite funny and even the insults towards Eggman such as Robuttnik or Baldy McNosehair.

Knuckles, Dr. Eggman and Fang the Sniper are my other favorites.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Despite liking the AoSTH and to a small amount the OVA, my favorite continuity is actually the Sega one despite its inconsistancy and many choices that I don't agree with. What I really like how Sega and Sonic Team have done in terms of world building and each area tries to make it stand out whether its a forest, a city or even a reference (e.g. Death Egg, Angel Island). Like you can believe Sonic goes through the various environments and sometimes returns to them such as Green Hill. It is also to me more of the believeable options in terms of Sonic's world as in not too realistic that each area ends up generic but not completely off the wall and hard to know where each area is. It fits with the characters where the animals are cartoony and the humans depending on game are also cartoony but in a different way (e.g. Unleashed has a more Pixar look while the earlier 3D games go for more of a gaming human look that's a bit hard to describe) except Eggman who most of the time is cartoony.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

"I'm waaaaaaitiiiiiiiiing!" / "Estoy Esperando" - Sonic, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. It's the same quote, just a different language.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Robotnik Reigns Supreme from Sonic the Comic. I just really like the idea of Robotnik becoming a powerful being thanks to the Chaos Emeralds and Sonic who no longer exists in the world has to stop him with everything against the odds (e.g. his friends not knowing who he is, Robotnik can do whatever he wants). Plus the ending shows that no matter what Sonic is there to take down Robotnik.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (AoSTH) is my favorite Sonic cartoon, was a fan just as long as playing my first games and also one of my favorite cartoons overall. I just like its cartoony wackyness of the series. The only regret is unable to watch much of the stream. If only all 4 parts of Man of the Year were completed...

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

If it counts as a cutscene, then the opening to Sonic CD (as appeared on the PC, Sonic Jam and later versions of the game). Really slick animation of Sonic running around trying to get to Little Planet and impressive coming from the studio that made it too.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Triple Trouble. It has all my favorite characters, good level designs, unique bosses and gimmicks as well as Special Stages and moves. Even the music is good considering the limited PSG. The only problem was that it is on the Game Gear and the console can't really cope with the game.

 13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Hmmm... Now this is a hard question considering the series strength regarding the soundtracks. For vocal, there's one song that gets in my head and that's Super Sonic Racing from Sonic R. Powerful instrumental from Richard Jacques and strong vocals from T J Davis, to me its a great song in both forms. Pumpkin Hill, E.G.G.M.A.N, Can You Feel the Sunshine and Race to Win are my other favourites. As for instrumental non-vocal, that is even worse because I don't have a clear favorite and have at least 20 songs alone. The closest one is Green Hill from Sonic 1 when played on a PAL Mega Drive and only because the memories are that strong.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

I actually really like Knuckles' climbing move as in that it gets me to higher places or alternative routes (and technically would break Marble Zone since he can just walk across skipping half the level) and really needed for his treasure hunting levels in the Adventure games. The move alone is why I consider Knuckles one of my favorite characters.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Rather like question 13, it is hard and this answer changes often! I'll go for Sonic CD (Japanese/European version) as each time zone in the song reflects such as an upbeat tone for the good future while a more darker take for the bad future yet keeping the melodies close. The songs are energetic and they try to capture the setting of the levels very well such as a slower waterfall take for Tidal Tempest or a dramatic take for the Final Boss. They use samples in the songs and also fitting for the situation such as "Work That Sucker to Death" when Sonic is on the treadmill boss or how in Metailic Madness, they want Sonic Dead or Alive. I also happen to like the music that has a similar style to this game such as R-Type Leo or The Hybrid Front in terms of tone and sample use.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

While I could have chosen plenty of artwork from either Naoto Ohshima or the Sonic the Screensaver series, this artwork always seems to be eyecatching to me:

sonictails2_coveritu9h.png

The art was done by Greg Martin who did various box arts of the classic Sonic games as well as a considered one for Sonic & Knuckles. Source (but horizontally flipped to match box art and Greg Martin's original drawing)

As for why I like it, I just find it cool that Sonic is snowboarding while Knuckles has a worried look that for the character is unusual and Fang is smiling that he has his Chaos Emerald. As for Sonic it has a West meets East look about him as in that it is the American Sonic in terms of colouring and posing but also takes some cues from Ohshima and the Sega artwork of the time such as the brown eyes. It also reflects the game very well as Sonic does snowboard in the game and there are Special Stages where you get the Chaos Emeralds from Fang, plus the nod to the Robotnik Winter stage.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

This is actually a tough question since I felt that all 3 eras as well as the cartoons have done a great job on the voice acting and sadly unable to tell much difference between Adventure-Heroes era and the 4Kids era due to tone deafness apart from a few characters.

I would actually say the current voice cast (Studiopolis?) is my favorite overall on the grounds that some characters don't appear in the earlier cartoons such as Amy or Knuckles, have a good voice for Tails who is usually hit and miss depending on what game or cartoon he appears in and that they actually enjoy doing their voices while having fun which is the best part of a voice actor/actoress. What also makes it my favorite is that they interact with the fans whether in conventions or being more than just a voice such as writing and do charity related things such as a stream. Roger donating money to a hospital while saying "Bounce Pad" when he played Sonic Adventure 2 made me smile, entertainment and a good cause. Plus the interaction between Roger and Mike even in social media makes you feel that Sonic and Eggman are joking and fooling around.

Even then I actually like the Spanish voice of Sonic the most (Rafael Alonso Naranjo Jr) due to his voice fitting with the character as in having a fast unique voice and showing the light hearted side of Sonic really well.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

I didn't know what it meant until I looked it up and realising that I couldn't think of anything. There was a head-canon a long time ago how Sonic is linked towards another series but it got debunked and a bit embarrassing to write.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

The Pinball type of levels (listed on Sonic Retro as the Casino/Carnival theme) as in Spring Yard, Casino Night, Collision Chaos and parts of Casinopolis. Also Meta Jungrilla and Mirage Saloon to a smaller extent since they have some features. As in that they feature steep downward slopes, bumpers, springs, flippers, maybe even a slot machine. I really love the saturated colours that these levels have plus it combines speed with momentum as well. They are usually but not always also city levels that are considered my second favorite.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Spring Yard from Sonic 1. As with the previous question; it features my favorite level theme, the slopes and has some secrets as well from hidden routes to a second exit that I only managed to do once. Whenever I play Spring Yard, I play all 3 acts nearly every time and even use the level select to just play it. It also has some music that I find to be great as well. Studiopolis in the future may surpass this judging by what I've seen and heard.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

My poor memory is letting me down... There were some very Sonicy years where apparently I drew characters, celebrated his birthday and even made a video but I just can't remember them at all. The only year that I can actually remember looking forward to a Sonic game was 2012. It was shortly before a bad patch of my life started when I was going back towards gaming after having a break 10 years ago. I got a PS3 and my first two games for it were Formula One: Championship Edition and Sonic Generations. Played through Sonic Generations on my new PS3 and completely enjoyed the game from start to finish, considering that I was disappointed with Sonic Heroes and nearly went off the series it gave me a new look towards the games again. The game was much better, it wasn't buggy and it looked nice too. Ended up getting Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and played through that too despite already played the DS version a while ago.

Then I heard that a new All-Stars Racing game was coming out and I was over the moon. Done by my favourite developer of that time Sumo Digital? Check. 3 types of racing in a course? Check. The same great arcadey gameplay with more stuff to do and better graphics? I'm so there. So while the bad time started after the announcement, All-Stars Racing Transformed gave me a lot of enjoyment (along with Sleeping Dogs and Need for Speed Most Wanted) and later ended up getting the Vita version, when I got my Vita later on. It was perhaps thanks to this game that I decided to join the Sonic community the next year when Lost World was announced.

The second closest is perhaps 2016 with Sonic Mania however I was going through a bad patch but a different reason this time so any excitement of the game that happened just didn't happen and became nulled.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

sonicguide32t2msuw.jpg

To put it into one term, what they call the Cutting Room Floor. The concept art, early drafts, production material, the unused parts of a game, the prototypes showing stuff that isn't in the finished game with the most famous being Hidden Palace, the unreleased games (e.g. Sonic Edusoft). The parts that you weren't meant to see whether its that they ran out of time, a scrapped idea, confidental or just some issues preventing a release. Usually its the fans or technical people who doing this but sometimes staff do this such as Naoto Ohshima sharing his drawings and really thankful for doing so.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

I don't usually look at trailers as most of the time, they do not reflect the game or just have a fancy CGI scene that might not be in the game at all but Sonic Mania really pleased me. It describes the game very well as in old school Sonic with new levels, I thought at first it couldn't be real but yes, it is. As soon as I saw it, it was a slient yes inside due to suffering from a tough time (I would have been over the moon otherwise). Plus not often Sega has proudly presented a game so even they know a good thing when they see it. Sonic Unleashed, Generations and Lost World were close though.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

This is again tough since I really like Naoto Ohshima's Sonic (and the Sonic CD animation, Sonic 1/2 sprites to a smaller extent), the OVA variation, Sonic the Screensaver, AoSTH and Modern Sonic from Colours to Lost World. Out of those though and a nice middle ground, it is AoSTH Sonic.

As for why? It has elements of Sonic that I like and the closest composite character of the ones mentioned as in Classic Sonic mixed with Modern Sonic. It tries to be like the Ohshima Sonic character despite the show having inconsistant design (so much of the time he looks like Greg Martin/American Sonic, Animaniacs styled Sonic or barely even looks like him), it has small hints to the OVA such as liking adventure and has shouted at Tails at a couple of occasions (he apologizes though unlike OVA) and having some of the charm that Modern Sonic has. As in that he likes to have fun, he likes to annoy Robotnik/Eggman, he eats chilidogs by the ton but also kind, helpful and even a bit of a dorkish charm as in the stuff Sonic thinks is cool but others won't. I can easily see this Sonic saying Baldy McNoseHair.

I also really like his close bond to Tails with only Sonic Colours in the games showing this. It makes it more than a loner as Tails keeps him company but not in a community where he restricted on what he does due to others.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Sonic Mania alone keeps me interested otherwise I would have nothing left to look forward to in general and getting increasily apathic. Sonic is one of my influences, has been in a strong part of my life and childhood memories are very hard to shake off. Even during his downtime, plenty of interesting things happened such as the hacking community which in turn caused Taxman and Stealth to make Sonic Mania officially. Unused Sonic stuff interests me and still surprising such as how SegaSonic the Hedgehog was going to have an English version. It is also one of the few things in my childhood left that it is still running despite what has happened in the past or potentially in the future, most things either disappeared or just makes me cry in a not very good way.

After Sonic Mania though, it gets a bit harder but it depends on what Sega does. Even when the community dies off, I'll still be a fan of Sonic but only because the memories are strong.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

Well, all of Sonic CD's animated cutscenes are my favorite. But that's too obvious an answer. So besides that, I really love all of the Chaotix cutscenes from Sonic Heroes. Their intro probably being my number 1 favorite. We get a look at their headquarters and how they just kind of sit there chilling doing their thing waiting for work. I love seeing Sonic characters doing casual things.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

It's either Sonic Adventure or Sonic Heroes. I love the setting, story, and tone and I can still go back and replay it and have a blast.

Sonic Heroes is so special to me. I've always loved the team based gameplay, I loved that they split the characters into 3 different types allowing them to better mold other characters into fitting Sonicy type gameplay. A character like Big for example, who in SA1 was slow, clunky, and couldn't do much aside from swing a rod now fits in beautifully into the Sonic universe and was tons of fun to play as. Body slamming foes, gliding with an umbrella, using his fishing rod to mow down and bat enemies. Love it. I absolutely love the tone and aesthetics of Sonic Heroes. It's like what I feel the definitive Sonic world should be like. I adored super hard mode and I really wish more games would do that because I think the mechanics of Heroes are so great once you get the hang of them, I never want to put it down when I start playing and I still get these cravings to go back to the game when I'm away from it for a long time. It's just really satisfying

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Either You Can Do Anything or Cosmic Eternity both from Sonic CD. I love both but I think You Can Do Anything fits the essense of Sonic especially well.

Non vocal there's so many good ones. But I think I'll say Bad Taste Aquarium. This song always get me going.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Spin Dash for sure. Please for the love of fuck don't take it away from Sonic anymore. Let him keep it!! I don't care what anyone says spin dash is Sonic's signature move.

Honorable mention goes to the insta-shield. I hate my young self for thinking it was useless as a kid. As I got older I realized how amazing it was and I would be extremely happy if this move could find a permanent spot in Sonic's moveset (just the like dang SPIN DASH should) It's just so darn useful, looks really cool, and it is so satisfying to bop a spiky enemy that'd normally hurt you and press on unharmed. Also, for some reason it just feels good to attack enemies with it even if you're not using it for its utility. If it's not in Mania there is no hope for the poor old insta-shield. The Drop Dash is looking crisp though I love that too so I can't wait to get my hands on it and use it for myself.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

I love Sonic Rush's soundtrack. I'm a big Hideki Naganuma and Jet Set Radio fan so Rush is right up my alley.

Though JP Sonic CD's soundtrack is so close for that number 1 spot.

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

This is really hard. I love looking at Sonic artwork online whether it's fan made or official. There's so much great stuff out there it's hard to choose. All the Sonic the Screensaver art and Yuji Uekawa's drawings are the bees knees.

If I had to pick one I'd honestly probably choose this.

KRQXHWd.jpg

It's my favorite box art the series has seen, the way Uekawa's draws Sonic is just so cool and stylish and free. Like graffiti. It fits the era beautifully and I always feel some type of way when I look at the artwork for Sonic Adventure a way that no other game makes me feel.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

The japanese voice cast by far. They pretty much all nail the characters personalities perfectly. I think Junichi Kanemaru is the perfect Sonic. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Though I also really love the original voice cast the series had. Ryan Drummond as Sonic will always have a very special place in my heart. Also David Humphrey's Shadow is fresh as fuck.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

My favorite headcanon is that long in the future once the main cast have passed on Shadow will take the torch of savior of Earth.

Also, no one but Sonic & Shadow can actually spin dash. No one!!

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

I'm a sucker for beach levels.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Probably Egg Fleet. I love the idea of being way way up in the sky destroying Eggman's battleships one by one. It's so awesome.

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

I think around the time Heroes was coming out. I was so hyped for the game I'd visit the Sonic Heroes website every single day and whenever the A Team music played as the site loaded, oof it takes me back. There was a quiz on the site to determine which team you'd be on and I'd take it all the time. It was obvious which you'd end up on because of the answers they had, and I'd make sure I'd be put on every single one. I'd also visit Sonic Central and watch all the trailers for every team.

Those were the days.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

Hard to pick one, the music in this series tends to be on point, aesthetically Sonic characters are my absolute favorite in terms of design, also I love rolling down hills at high speeds so hopefully after Mania that becomes a thing we can do again.

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

Honestly I'd have to go with Sonic Heroes again.

I'm so nostalgic for this and the excitement and build up I felt waiting for this game was unreal. Sonic Heroes came to me at just the right time in my life. Mania's trailer was really well done though.

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

Honestly I'm always fighting myself when it comes to which design of Sonic I like best. I usually side with the art that Uekawa makes, like I said earlier it's so stylish and free and loose, it's so cool to look at.

RHQI2R3.png

But the moment I take another look at old school black eyes Sonic my heart always skips a beat.

WqZaHM5.png

Honestly I think the way Naoto Oshima draws Sonic is best. Fitting for the guy who designed him.

C-Ln10_UAAQ3KsX.jpg:large

I'm extremely excited he's making art for Mania because he's the best.

And if you mean Sonic's personality, I definitely like the drifter hero who's laid back and just kind of does what he feels like approach Sonic has in the OVA and SA1.

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

Honestly, my love for the older games that I always have a good time replaying, watching speed runs of, and the countless fan games and hacks out there. The guy is just so fun to draw too. If I'm tense, stressed, don't know what to do, I can pull out my sketch book or tablet and just draw and 9 times out of 10 Sonic finds his way on my page one way or another. He's such a beautiful character and he really means the world to me. There's been lots of negativity floating around over the years, but through thick and thin I'll be there. I consider myself pretty lucky to be one of the more versatile fans who can find enjoyment out of most games the series has to offer.

Sonic's just the coolest and he really helped mold who I am and still helps manages to help me through really rough times. He's the best.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Sonic_Channel_-_Blaze_the_Cat_2013.png

Despite how much I praised the classic era in my last post...yeah.

Cool design, backstory, and powers. As a character she's both an excellent foil to Sonic by basically being the opposite of everything he is while still being a good character in her own right who's development into a more open person was fun to watch. There are lots of things about her I wish were done better, but that goes for every Sonic character.

Runner ups include Sonic himself, Tails, Tikal, and Gamma.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

If the OVA world had more material I'd lean toward that but there's not enough there. Game continuity by default as I don't really care for the others.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

Me and my friends have gotten a lot of mileage out of Shadow the Hedgehog quotes to be honest. Kind of a cop out answer but goddamn.

This game was a goldmine.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Sonic Adventure 1 is the best imo. It ties into the Classic games pretty well without leaning on them and most of the characters develop past their one note characterizations there. Sonic 3 and Sonic CD get shoutouts for how they created interesting worlds with their minimalist approach and Unleashed has a lot of good side characters in it even if the main story isn't so hot.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

The OVA is pretty great despite how many liberties it takes. The world and characters are just so good that it's easy to ignore how different it is.

Welp, guess who forgot to make his five questions yesterday? :U I'll answer five now, and then later on do the next five.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Blaze. She's got a nice design, interesting powers, and I like that she has a whole other dimension she lives in, which could allow for its own cast of characters and cosmology to develop... that is, if it weren't just used as a locker in which to store Blaze when she's not appearing in spinoffs. If there were a character I'd "promote" to being with the main heroes (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy), it'd be her, no question.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Call me a purist if you want, but SEGA continuity is the one I generally prefer, though I do wish it were a little more like the Post-SGW Archie books in terms of character interactions and plot. While there are things I like about the Archie canon, it's not really one I'm super familiar with, plus there's the fact that it took twenty-plus years before it got good (minus some interesting characters like Mina) thanks to a full-blown reboot. That, and it's also in an unfortunate state of limbo at this time.

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

"I'll be back! With a new robot! Who has super laser eyes, and he'll feed me ham! Evil ham..." - Boom Eggman, 2014

...yeah, I'm not exactly one to remember quotes from this series.

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Off the top of my head, Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Yeah, it's not super complex, but I admire the way it's told through gameplay and background details with nary a line of dialogue. I particularly like the way Eggman dicks around with Angel Island in nasty ways (forest fires, drilling through ruins, climate change) while remaining his lovable goofy self.

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

By default, the OVA. It's the closest to the SEGA games (even with monkey-tailed girls and a totally different world) in artstyle, tone and plot, and it's genuinely entertaining and fun.

Boom's OK, but it's still its own thing, I still don't agree with a few redesigns, and it generally focuses far more on comedy than I'd like (also its background characters just look washed-out and bad to look at, and from what I've read they're terrible people).

Only one arc of X was good (that being the SA1 one), and the rest is meh to bad. I still believe that season 3 was a completely different series hastily retooled into the third season given how utterly un-Sonic it is.

And then there's the DiC cartoons. AoStH at least has nice Sonic and Tails interactions, plus Robotnik's a hoot, though the animation and art direction is often not to my liking. SatAM has maybe one good episode, but the rest is barely a Sonic show. And Underground speaks (sings?) for itself.

EDIT: Oh, there's also Man of the Year. Honestly, that displaces the OVA as my favourite, but since it's a short and not a full-fledged movie/series, I dunno if it counts as a cartoon.

Finally got some time to do this, sooo lets go! (i'll try to do the 5 per day way as well)

Part 1:

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Well, i got into sonic when i was pretty young (don't really remember my age), but i got out of the fanbase after a while, came back around 2010 - 2011 and this time i think it's permanent. so without stopping around 7 years but it's a little more.

2. What was your first Sonic game?

The first Sonic on my Sega Genesis (Mega Drive in my country), actually i think it was the first game i ever played, and i loved it from the start.

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

A mix between the younger me not being able to pass Spring Yard Zone and the SatAM story and characters (which i rewatched constantly 'cause i had some episodes on VHS tapes).

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Does "a lot" is enough? no? ok then :

List on the Spoiler Box:

Spoiler

Sonic 1 (steam) (genesis)

Sonic 2 (steam)

Sonic 3 & Knuckles (steam)

SPINBALL (steam)

Sonic 4 ep1 - 2 (steam)

Adventure DX (steam)

Adventure 2 (steam) (X360)

Heroes (PC)

All stars racing (steam)

All Stars Racing transformed (steam)

Unleashed (X360) (Y NO PC???)

'06 (X360)

CD (PC) (mobile)

Generations (X360) (X360 CE) (steam)

doing the math: 20 games with duplicates, 15 excluding the duplicates.

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

I'd say i'm a sonic fan period. i love the classic era as much as i love the modern era, and i personally don't make a distinction of classic and modern, i prefer to see as 2D game, 3D game, 2D and 3D game, but that is just me.

500px-sonic-adventure-2--xmas-board-full(Source)

I've always really liked the Christmas related artwork from this series. This is just one of many favorites though.

Head-canons aren't really my thing. I don't make them or even acknowledge others, so I don't have a favorite.

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

The Casino themed levels are probably my favorite returning level trope, so bright and colorful. Always accompanied by a pinball gimmick, which I also like.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Sky Deck from Sonic Adventure. It's a level I really have fun screwing around in with spindash jumping, and I honestly don't really mind 2nd half of the stage so much.

Time for more questions:

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

No contest; the opening to Sonic Unleashed. It perfectly fits the artstyle of what I'd want a CG Sonic movie to have, and it's even structured like a scene from a hypothetical movie. Even nearly ten years later, looking at that shot of Eggman's shiny armada in space in which we slowly zoom in towards Eggman himself, to Sonic showing up and kicking ass, to turning Super Sonic and smashing everything, to Eggman trapping Super Sonic in a legitimately brilliant move, to the planet breaking up... GUH, I LOVE IT AND I WANT MORE

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Predictable, yes, but considering it is a legitimately fun game and the best of the Classic games (possibly until Mania), is that really a bad thing? Now if only there were a 3DS port so I could play it on the go...

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

...hoo boy, you're really gonna make me choose one of each, huh? Tall order there, Kiah, but I'll try!

Vocally, I'd say Speak With Your Heart comes the closest to my number one, as odd a choice as that may be. I don't listen to the vocal songs as often as I do to non-vocal ones, but it's still a good song and a nice one to end a game on.

Non-vocally, now that's a tough choice. There's a lot of tracks I love, and I'd be hard-pressed to say I have one lone favourite that dominates all others. But for the sake of this list, I think I'll put Quartz Quadrant Past here. I like the instrumentation used here; it sounds nice. Just know that this is a difficult choice for me, and that just about the entire Classic soundtrack is one I like a lot.

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Hm... I suppose Blaze's flame hover is a pretty nice move? Personally I wish she had a more "firey" attack in addition to her jump and spindash, but eh.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Y-you ask me to choose a single favourite again?! Oh, whyyyyy QAQ

But seriously, I think I'm going to go for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I dunno why (well, probably because a different composer did it), but I kinda prefer the instrumentation and composition of its songs compared to S3&K (though that is not a knock on that game's soundtrack by any means).

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

The Sonic Boom show. Time and again it would show that the writers have done their homework when it comes to references, from jabbing games (including Sonic) and other topics, to fourth wall humour.

The action there has improved in Season 2 as well as the animation. It's a neat show with it's own charms and the character expressions range from cute to funny.

X was a nostalgia show voice acting wise. It had some problems but sometimes I would enjoy some of the action scenes and taunts.

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

The Unleashed opening. That CGI. That action. That one time Eggman actually tricked Sonic. In his super form. The music here was also really intense.

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Colors for the DS. I found the wisps to be useful and fun, while spamming the boost button, and trying to beat the final boss was quite challenging.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Vocal: Dear My Friend is such an adorable song. The piano is one of my favourite instruments and it was used so well here. I like to think this song signifies the friendship between Sonic and mostly Tails (though the lyrics signify it's Chip.)

Special mentions to His World, Live Life and Reach for the Stars.

Non vocal: Jeez there is a lot of tracks I like! I guess the Aquatic level 1 area from Sonic 06. Again this uses the piano and then techno music and it actually mixes well!

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

The Spin Dash. You can charge yourself up and then just blast yourself further. It's pretty fun! The Burst Dash from Blaze s similar but yeah.

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

06's. As shiz as this game was, it's music was the one thing I liked about it. It had piano, rock and an orchestra version of His World! It sounded epic!

Close seconds were Unleashed's, Rush's and Rush Adventure's soundtrack.

Did someone ask for more questions? Here they are:

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

I'm going to say that just about any of the Sonic Channel artwork - especially the ones where we see them in different outfits and/or just living their lives - is a major contender in my books. You can tell that I love a lot of things so much I can't choose any hard-and-fast favourite from them. But if I had to choose one, I think I'd go with this one.

D'aww, he's the cutest little Sith Lord ever.

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

Granted, about 3/4 of them aren't given much opportunity to shine, but I'm liking the curent voice cast quite a bit. Rodger was a bit weird as Sonic at first, but he's grown on me, Cindy Robinson's greatly improved her Amy voice with Boom (goodbye Minnie the Mousehog), Tails is alright, and most importantly we got to keep good old Mike as Eggman. Dude's the definitive Eggman VA in my opinion.

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

Hrm...  I guess I don't really have much in the way of headcanons, beyond, "the cast get up to their own adventures even when Sonic and Eggman aren't around", which is kind of a given for some of them, so I guess I'll settle for "the Lost Hex is a dimensional-warping landmass and the Deadly Six are Blaze's real archenemies (and also better developed)".

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

I'm kind of a fan of the "flying battleship" theme (e.g. Wing Fortress, Flying Battery, Egg Fleet). While I do like the idea of hitching a ride on Eggman's latest flying machine and destroying it from the inside out, I like Egg Fleet a lot for also letting the player fly through the air across multiple ships.

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

Hrm... another tough one. I guess I'm going to go for Star Light Zone? It's fast, it's got a nice atmosphere, fantastic music, and the only gripe I have is that it's perhaps a tiny bit too short.

1. How long have you been a Sonic fan?

Since 1992

2. What was your first Sonic game?

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive

3. What initially attracted you to the Sonic the Hedgehog series?

The Sega Bus was at a craft fair-cum-Bootsale I went to in 1992, prior to seeing it I had never heard of Sonic the Hedgehog or Sega; I just wanted to go on the huge bus filled with video games (I only owned a NES back then). The bus has a competition where you raced through the Green Hill and Chemical Plant Zones or Sonic 2 and despite having never played the game before, and despite being six, I won, beating several adults.

4. How many Sonic games do you currently have? Feel free to count duplicates!

Not including digital copies: 54, 57 if you include the original three LCD games

5. Are you more of a Classic or Modern Sonic fan?

Judging by these answers it would seem ‘Classic’.

6. Who is your favorite Sonic character and why?

Bunnie Rabbot – mostly via SatAM where she was awesome, kicks things a lot, had a cool accent and, yeah, is pretty hot.

7. What is your favorite continuity? (SEGA, Archie, SatAM, OVA etc.)

Sonic the Comic

8. What is your favorite Sonic quote? This can come from any character.

“Don’t worry Knuckles! I’ll neutralize Finitevus’ voodoo the same way I undid Perfect Chaos – I’m gonna beat the evil out of you” – Sonic the Hedgehog 183

9. What is your favorite story in the Sonic franchise?

Disaster! – Sonic the Comic 51-53

10. What is your favorite Sonic cartoon?

Sonic SatAM, no context there

11. What is your favorite cutscene from a Sonic game?

I can safely say I don’t have one

12. What is your favorite Sonic game?

Sonic Jam, it took four already fantastic games and gave us a whole bunch of new ways to play them.

13. What is your favorite Sonic track both vocal and non-vocal?

Non-vocal: Mystic Cave Zone – Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Vocal: Can You Feel the Sunshine (no, really) – Sonic R

14. What is your favorite move from Sonic or any other playable character?

Fang’s manic pop gun firing move in Sonic the Fighters

15. What is your favorite Sonic soundtrack?

Sonic R, no, really

16. What is your favorite image from the series? Please post it here and mention the source.

The cover to Sonic the Comic issue 84

17. Which is your favorite voice acting cast?

Satam – ha! Avoided that one

18. What is your main/favorite Sonic head-canon?

Amy Rose and Tekno are lovers; you know it, get comfortable with it

19. What is your favorite recurring level theme (e.g. green forest, space stations, lava ruins)?

The, for lack of better term, bouncy theme park-esque level: Casino Night Zone, Twinkle Park, BINGO Highway etc

20. What is your favorite level from the Sonic games?

I’m rather predicable: Green Hill Zone

21. What was your most memorable year in the franchise for you?

1993: the year Sonic the Comic, Archie Sonic, Sonic SatAM and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog call came out, along with Sonic CD; the seeming peak of the Sonic Boom period with him in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

22. What is your one favorite thing in the entire Sonic the Hedgehog series?

In an attempt to avoid the many lude comments I’m currently thinking of: playing the first level of any Sonic game, it’s not really too challenging so I can just sit back and enjoy playing a Sonic game

23. What is your favorite trailer for Sonic games revealed?

I am sad to say I don’t have one, what was the one with the plasticine Sonic in it? Can I have that one?

24. There are many versions of the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the quarter century he has existed across various forms of media. Which one is your favorite version of Sonic and why?

The Sonic SatAM Sonic, simply because if/when I sit down to write Sonic as a character this is the personality I automatically give him

25. More than a quarter of a century and the Blue Blur is still running! What keeps you around at this point?

If I like something, certainly as much as Sonic, I stick with it, why wouldn’t I? A couple of bad games aren’t going to turn me off all the other stuff; I’m still here for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokémon, Paul Weller, the X-Men, Billy Bragg even Power Rangers.
