Since I don't have much to say about the first two (and I really tried to find songs I liked), I'll simply touch on Rush and everyone's darling, '06. Just as this topic lead to me rediscovering the Japanese CD soundtrack, it has resulted in a newfound love for Hideki Naganuma's work on the DS game. I don't think I appreciated it at the time and now Wrapped In Black has pride of place in my top Sonic tracks of all time.

'06 has a lot of great tracks, but my number one has to be Snowy Peak. Much like Sonic 3's Ice Cap, it has a very unique sound for a snow level. Its heart pounding beat and echoing resonance is befitting of the gloomy, snow blasted acropolis that is concealing one of Eggman's facilities.

1. star light zone - somehow both upbeat and soothing, a track that fits the stage like a glove.

2. green hill zone - what can i say? it's catchy and iconic. it's the zone and song you associate with sonic.

3. marble zone - fittingly slower paced when compared to the song and stage before it. not to mention it just gets stuck in your head!

4. spring yard zone - it just sounds like a casino city! even though the stage is less casino, more city.

5. scrap brain zone - quite possibly the most metal-y sounding song in a genesis game. not like that's a bad thing, though.

sonic heroes

1. what i'm made of - the first original vocal final boss theme, and a absolutely phenomenal one at that!

2. ocean palace - an extremely catchy theme for a great level!

3. mystic mansion - someone told jun to make a ghost disco, and he succeeded!

4. frog forest - a nature based level with another upbeat and soothing theme, kinda like star light!

5. sonic heroes - more of an upbeat theme when compared to vocal themes before it. it's really cheesy, but that's what makes it special.

5. Rival Battle : Metal Sonic - pretty good remix of the original JP Stardust Speedway BF, has more stuff added, feels like a natural extension of the original imo.
6. Challenge / Mission 4 ( Balloon Park B )
7. Rooftop Run : Act 1
8. Seaside Hill Act 2 - Just because it has Ocean Palace added in, otherwise it's okay.
9. City Escape Act 1 - I love Escape from The City, and I also love the Endless Mine theme - so this works out well, surprisingly!
10. Rival Battle : Shadow the Hedgehog - some folks don't seem to like this version of Shadow's boss theme, but I kinda like the weirdness and other quirks added to it, sort of. Not to say this is better or would outdo the original, but I can enjoy it in it's own, alternative, different right.

Generations' OST is pretty damn good, it wasn't easy having to pick which remi--track was going to be put on my list, but for sure Time Eater wasn't anywhere on my mind though, so I didn't feel too bad not giving it any points. :U (actually it's not too bad but compared to others on the list....eeeehhhhhh, yeah..)

2. Tropical Coast - Sea Bottom Segue - it's a beautiful track that feels sombre, though felt a little out of nowhere, was much more fitting during in
Lava Mountain 2 due to the context in the story at that point, well, in my opinion.
3. Silent Forest - Zone 1 - reminds me a lot of the Rouge level themes and Werehog's night themes, also just sounds great.
4. Boss Rushes (Guitar Ver.) - I didn't really care about all the Deadly Six themes, but this one I like for how it - for that one boss rush - made them feel threatening, despite being a bunch of one dimensional characters.
5. Silent Forest - Island Relics - I really like this one, it feels mysterious and jungle like.
6. Sky Road - Zone 1
7. Dr. Eggman Showdown - being wasted on a shitty boring rehash of Nega-Wisp aside, this is a pretty hard boiledcore boss track, I gotta say.
8. Dessert Ruins - Sugar Lane
9.  Tropical Coast - Juice Archipelago
10. Desert Ruins - Honeycomb Highway

SLW's OST may be regarded as 50/50 of meh and good, especially compared others, but I gotta say, it ain't half bad. It's not amazing -  but I enjoyed it enough.

There many stand-outs here, but two particularly special pieces are Jungle Joyride - Day and Boss Battle : Big Arms. Too bad neither have titles to match...

The first was an instant favourite the moment I heard it in Unleashed. Its intro has a long build-up, with an almost boss-like intensity to it, before launching into a catchy dance number. Like most of the Unleashed day variety, it both ties well into the level's theme and synchronises beautifully with a perfect run.

Generations' Big Arms is another impelling track. This has to be one of the most adrenaline-fuelled themes throughout Sonic's musical history and probably my top pick from the lot. The original was already high on my list, but Cash Cash and Jun Senoue really outdid themselves with this version. Just when you think the song's about loop back around as usual, it pulls something else out of the bag. I love it and am disappointed that it ended up marooned on the 3DS when we could have been jamming to this with its HD brother. Ever since it was released, I've been imagining it used in a cool battle scene involving all of the characters.

Thus far, this one was one of the hardest ones for me to decide. Not only is Adventure 2 one of my favourite games in the series but I love the soundtrack in the game, yes, even Knuckles' and Rouge's tracks. I did manage to narrow it down to these ten though.

A soundtrack I haven't listened to in a long time. I've actually began listening to this OST a lot thanks to a event in the works for Motobug. Opening especially has become one of my favourites because of it. The soundtrack is a pretty great blend between the energy of Modern tracks, and translating that to 16/32-Bit OSTs.

So, not gonna lie. Love Heroes' soundtrack. It was my very first Sonic game, so I remember a lot of these themes fondly. And hate a lot of them because lol fuck bingo highway and the casino stages in this game. But yeah, not gonna lie, it was hard narrowing down some of these because of how many OSTs in the game I love.

My favourite 16-Bit/32-Bit Sonic OST. Love a lot of this games OST, especially opening and Ending B. Opening was actually one of my original ideas for an OST for the Motobug event being announced tomorrow, until I went with another one that slightly beat it out. Ending B is a particular favourite of mine too, and was even used for the credits of the SSMB Community Video last year because the Motobug crew loved it so much. Route 99 is a memorable tune for me just because of how catchy it is and how much of a change of pace it is compared to other Sonic opening levels. Ex Boss is an intense final boss theme IMO, and Chaos Angel Zone has another intense OST for one of the final levels which I really enjoy.

Sonic Rush

Another great soundtrack. A lot of catchy and memorable songs, and it helps that the composer of Jet Set Radio was on board for this too.

Shadow is an...interesting one for me. Personally, I don't find a lot of the tracks memorable. A good few I find outright bland and boring. But then there's ones I do like and think they're legitimately great OSTs. Especially stuff like Never Turn Back and Lost Impact. Again, a mixed bag.

This is a really meh soundtrack for me because it doesn't really remix the songs compared to the console edition of Gens. There's some good ideas, like Classic's track being the opening bit to Emerald Coast while Modern's OST is the second part of the Emerald Coast OST, but a lot of this just feels like I'm listening to songs from previous games with slightly different sounds to them.

Now personally, I feel that a lot of these tunes can get ear-grating (At least when you play enough Runners, which I did play a lot of Runners when it was out). But in small doses, they're really cool, really catchy, and really fun. Especially songs like End of the Summer. Perfect for a auto runner game. 

And with that my friends, it seems I have reached the end of the edible song list. I have gone over every single Sonic game on the list over the course of the last twenty years.

But fuck it. As Goku would say...

Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice

 To be honest, a huge improvement from previous Boom efforts. A lot of songs are pretty catchy and have the Sonic rhythm in them. I actually find this soundtrack pretty good.

Park Avenue Custom is actually beginning to grow on me the more I hear it, and Green Hill Zone is complete and total trash, go figure.

This took forever to do. I'm not gonna lie. I went through every single game. I listened to the soundtracks of games I've never heard of before. Some had some pleasant surprises, others were total crap. It was...interesting revisiting a lot of these soundtracks, hearing some of these after not listening to these songs after years. Some were as good as I remember them. Some were...notably worse, not going to lie. But overall. Yeah, definitely interesting. So, concluding thoughts? 

I guess a lot of this wasn't about just wanting to see my favourite tunes win this competition (Well I mean it'd be nice, but that wasn't the main reason). I guess the reason I went through all of them, and even gave little explanations or thoughts regarding the soundtracks after each game was just to give my overall opinion on soundtracks, or maybe share some experiences I had with them. That was honestly the real fun of the event for me. Going back through this series' history and determining my favourites was a pretty good experience. 

I also just wanna send out a quick thanks to @Nepenthe, @Kiah @Monkey Destruction Switch @Zaysho and the rest of the mod team who I assume was helping Nep with the event. It takes a hell of a lot of effort to set up and organise these events for the community, so I wanna show my appreciation to everyone who came together to make this event happen.

Hey guys! I just wanted to give a quick thanks to everyone who's participated thus far. We've got a lot of votes to put into the system, which is good! The bigger the sample size, the bigger the consensus we can get. I'm excited to see which particular song is going to come out on top, and just how crazy the list is gonna be. And a special thank you to people who have messaged us with missing songs and questions and thoughts about the event. That kind of feedback helps us out, and should we do this next year, it's going to be far more polished; I promise!
