So, it's Sonic's 26th birthday, and it also happens to be the second year anniversary of Motobug, and falling in line with @Nepenthe's event where everyone looked back through the soundtracks of the Sonic series, what better way to celebrate than creating a sequel to the very successful event from last year, The Sonic Musical Spectacular! If you missed last year's event, here's the celebration video we created from it:

So, what is this event for? Well, in case you don't know yet, Motobug is SSMB's official stream. With the hard work of myself, and the rest of the Motobug crew, we organise a ton of streams, and events for SSMB to partake in, such as streams of cartoons based on games, major gaming streams such as e3 (Which we just recently got through), Gamescom, Nintendo Directs, PlayStation Experiences, and of course, major Sonic streams. Last year, we hit a major milestone when we had over 100 people join us for Sonic's 25th Anniversary party. We had 100 SSMB members watching together when Mania and Forces were officially debuted, and even now, after two years, Motobug is still running as strong as ever, with new staff, new events, and more. With Sonic's birthday, and the hype for Forces dying down a lot, we here at Motobug wanted to try bring in another event to spread some positive fun around here. 

So, with that said. Last year's event was easily the biggest that Motobug has done to date, but we don't wanna just rehash the same event, so we're gonna be adding in a few changes to mix things up. It'll be larger than last time, with more options for you guys. But enough with the intro, let's get to explaining.

So, here's how the event is going to go down. It's the same general idea as last year's event. We're gonna have four slots for every single game in the series. Every member gets three requests, the only rule being that you can't pick multiple songs for one game (Or else it'll be unfairly taking up all game slots). However. There's one massive difference now. An extra request. There is now a slot for remix requests. The way this will be split up is that every game will have three normal requests (E.G - Sonic Adventure - Open Your Heart, Speed Highway, Unknown from M.E). But then, the four slot is a "Remix Slot". So for example, with my four requests, I can request three normal Sonic OSTs, and one remixed OST. So, here's how each game would be laid out:

You get to choose a remix of a song, and you get to choose three songs from any game. If we absolutely must, we can also add one or two extensions to certain games if they prove popular enough, although this needs to be requested and we're hoping it doesn't come to that. After all that, the requested songs will then be aired in a massive Sonic Musical stream on Motobug. As you could probably guess, we've also got a second community celebration video in the works that will include everyone that took part in the event. 

There is one more thing we want to add though. We know how many people on SSMB actively like to remix their own songs or create their own ones. So for the second musical spectacular, we're adding a new category for those who like to get creative. Fan Created OSTs. Basically, you create your remix, upload to YouTube or Soundcloud, link it here, and it'll also be shown off during the Musical Spectactular. Keep in mind however that this is totally optional.

-No Spamming 

As with SSMB, we do not tolerate spamming the chat, especially with image embedding now being present. Give everyone a chance to speak and discuss, and don't take up the entire chat box for yourself. 

-Trolling

No trolling. Simple. As with the staff on SSMB, we want to ensure everyone on Motobug has a good and fun time. Because of that, we are adopting the same zero-tolerance policy on trolling as they do. It won't be tolerated, so please don't do it. 

-Be respectful

This one should be common sense. Be respectful to your fellow community members. Be friendly to them and just in general try to have a friendly attitude. Motobug's a place for everyone to have fun. This includes the same things SSMB does, flaming members, stirring drama, starting arguments, and insulting people will not be tolerated. Simple. 

-Be respectful to Staff 

The same way you should be respectful to other members, you should be respectful to the staff too. At the end of the day, not only are we normal members like you all are, but we're taking time out of our days to run these events that tend to take a ton of organisation, and effort to make happen, so be respectful. 

Here is the frequently asked questions along with answers for them. If you wish for more to be added to the FAQ, let me know and I'll happily clarify it.

Q. What do I have to do to take part in this event? - 

A. To make this absolutely clear, as we had this issue last year and it caused people to not join. You do not have to create your own remixes. All you have to do is request some of your favourite Sonic OSTs, and if you want, one of your favourite remixes by someone else. We will then do a huge Sonic Musical Spectacular Stream on Motobug where all of the requests are played, followed by the 2nd Year SSMB Community Celebration video.  

Q. Do I have to Submit a Song I created? - 

A. No, you do not. That is an optional thing for those who wish to do it. Feel free to simply request songs from the normal Sonic titles/your favourite remixes of them, and submit them as requests. Simple.

Q. Do I have to use all my requests? - 

A. You do not have to use all your requests if you don't want to. This goes for both song requests and remix requests.

Q. Extensions for Lists? -

A. Last year, I upped the limit of a lot of games due to requests. While I'm hoping not to go down that route due to the fact all games have a balanced four slots now as opposed to three, if it's absolutely needed, you can ask me/Motobug Staff and we'll add it. 

Q. Why did you place certain games together?

A. Either their soundtracks were so small that they justified being together, or it's going off feedback from last year. Again, if requested and if it's needed, we'll split the games into lists. 

Q. Same Song, Different Versions - 

Only one version of a song, unfortunately. Only exceptions is games like Generations which has it's entire soundtrack based around remixes of older songs.

Q. Fan Made Game OSTs?!

A. Considering how beloved a lot of fan made soundtracks are, including Before the Sequel, it felt like the perfect thing to add. 

Q. Additional Remix Slots

We're again hoping we don't need to go down the route of extensions, but if it's absolutely needed and requested, we'll considering upping them a little more.

Q. How do I get into the SSMB Community Celebration 2nd Year Video? 

A. All you have to do is use your requests. Then we'll add your stuff into the video. Simple

Q. When's the deadline for song requests submission? -

A. Again, the deadline is Saturday 8th of July at 5am GMT/12am EST. You'll have about two weeks to get your requests in!

Q. When's the deadline for Fan-Created Remixes/OSTs? -

A. Deadline is Monday 10th July at 5am GMT/12am EST. Reason for that being that you might need a little more time to finish off the song. 

Q. When's it airing? 

A. The actual Musical Spectacular will air on Motobug at 5:00pm GMT/1:00pm EST on Saturday 15th July.

The track is called "Sonic Stream".

It's from the "Sonic the Hedgehog Remix" album by Artist: Masafumi Ogata which featured remixes of Sonic CD JP soundtrack.

1. Seascape (Marina Madness) ~ Knuckles Chaotix

Like most Sonic games, Chaotix's music is its saving grace - Seascape in particular is a highlight for its slow and relaxing melody, contrasting not just the rest of the game's soundtrack but classic Sonic soundtrack in general, and instrumentation that perfectly sets the mood its zone is going for.

2. End of the Summer (Tropical Coast) ~ Sonic Runners

I can definitely see where people are coming from when they refer to Runners's music as unremarkable or generic, but in retrospect, it makes sense for Ohtani to take the idea that Sonic is just one big parody of 90's anime and bring it to its logical conclusion.

3. What U Need (Dead Line) ~ Sonic Rush

Sonic Rush's soundtrack is a strange one in that its tracks are completely unfitting for the levels they play in. There's absolutely no reason for a fast, EDM-esque track to play in the "Evil Eggman Space Station" level of a Sonic game. But there's something about the way they're composed, something about the way they compliment the game's overall "stylish" vibe, that makes it wrap right around and become fitting.

RMX. Sonic3 MegaD Mix ~ Sonic the Hedgehog 3/Sonic Gems Collection

No typical player would expect Gems Collection, a rather run-of-the-mill Sonic game compilation, to have a vast selection of completely new remixes - Much less for those remixes to be actually good. This track in particular was done by Naofuma Hataya himself who you probably know as the composer for Sonic CD, so if you liked CD's Japanese soundtrack you'll like this.
