I can only imagine how goddamn pissed SatAM/Archie fans would be if IDW Sally took more from StC than their media.

...I actually kinda want to see that.

That would definitely piss me off but I would be even more pissed off if they do not even use satam characters at all (which is sadly Likely).

That brings up a good point to ponder, would Eggmont/Fleetway StC characters be under Sega ownership or would they have been as bad at locking down ownership in contracts etc as the American branch was with Archie?

You wouldn't want IDW finally bringing back some StC characters or influences only to have some ex writer or artist claiming ownership and having another Sonic comic shitestorm all over again.

They were as bad as Archie about contracts, but the old staff of StC don't seem like they'd be so gung-ho about copyright, especially when it came to characters that don't belong to them. So influences on SEGA-owned characters shouldn't be an issue.

Ah, like Sally for example. Geez Sega was pretty bad at nailing down rights and contracts back in the day. Things like music rights coming up, creators rights etc. Tho I spose back then they didn't really plan ahead for re-releases on multiple formats, and no one really would have considered a future format like digital releases, things that unless fell under a general all encompassing ownership clause would create loopholes in contracts that the work for hire can now take advantage of. Or in the comics case a supposed lack of a contract all together, that rests more on the comic companies themselves tho, but Sega as well for not chasing them up on it to secure the things created in that media.

I kind of just want Forces to toddle off into it's pile of mediocrity so I'm not crazy about the IDW comics seemingly tying directly into it. Especially with the utterly shite enemy designs coming back.

I'm also not crazy about The Resistance still being a thing and seemingly just being a Freedom Fighter parallel. Again, why bother with all the reboot stuff if you're basically gonna do the same thing, just with characters missing?

Ergh. I guess we'll see. Hype's a bit stilted by this though. That Casino Night styled cover is utterly gorgeous though - I want more of that.

Nice, the covers and art are beautiful!

Those NPCs look way better than the ones in the actual game.

Also, rejoin the Resistance? Smells more like a Forces sequel than an aftermath lol.

This comic is more likely going to be more in-depth and entertaining, and be a much longer and more fulfilling experience than the game ever tried to achieve.

Yes! It's exactly what I wanted!

- Forces follow-up with (hopefully) more Avatars turned into real characters

- The resistance is somehow still going, yes! I like the concept as it's sort of Sega version of the Freedom Fighters, but with characters I particularly love

- Issue 2 is with Amy!

- This also means likely no more stupid adaptations

- Hopefully we can find out what REALLY happened with Infinite, his fate left unknown was the worst part of Forces' story

It makes sense that they'd want to follow up on their big game of the year. Plus this means a better story than a generic "smash Eggman and his badniks" like Mega Drive was.

They're removing the Freedom Fighters and yet still using the resistance/teamwork angle via a Forces tie-in no less.

They're systematically trying to get me to avoid reading this, I just know it.

I swear, if this leads into the first major overarching narrative being about Sonic sticking around with another large group of heroes on another world tour...

We'll see how this turns out in the end, I guess.

Rejoin the resistance? = Sequel to Forces!

I'm all right with it, my only hope is that they don't bring Classic Sonic back for no reason (unless there's gameplay which is the only reason they shoved in Classic Sonic :P)

Eh, I think it's more likely this issue/arc is just meant to come off of the wave of recent games, tie things up, and introduce the world. I don't think it's going to be a long-running "Shattered World Crisis" so much as some clean up. I think Ian and crew will be fine.

I'm sort of amused that we're getting a freedom fighter group without, you know, the actual, iconic characters that people actually like, but whatever. I'm not terribly surprised when it comes to anything Sega does anymore.

So what I don't understand is why they're starting a brand new comic series with a tie in to a game that depends on 20+ years of lore? They're not even easing into it, this is issue #2!

The cover art looks nice, Tyson Hesse is S Rank quality as always; I'm just stunned that they aren't taking advantage of a clean slate.

Did they actually think Forces was going to be a success or what? Like sure this was all in motion before the game was released but shouldn't someone have seen where things were going and said "hey no actually let's pivot away from this mess"? Even if they wanted the comics to be more in line with the games they could've just...moved on.

And if this is supposed to be a follow-up to Forces, is this Sega/Sonic Team's vision for the future of the games, too? Was Forces some kind of stealth pseudo-reboot to bring in Archie Sonic concepts with the serial numbers filed off?

Forces happened! It's okay, let's only hope that it does not have too much influence on the comics and tarnishes it! (=hopefully no classic Sonic, and no blank character for us to color).

Alright, I don't care how anybody feels about this tying into Forces or how they don't like that anybody is annoyed about it tying into Forces. I removed some posts that were just complaining about complaining (and responding to it). Focus on talking about the book and not commentating on some people not being as excited as you are.

The solict said rejoin so I’m pretty sure they mean the same group with the regular main cast in the game so thankfully that won’t be the case.

Believe me, I hate the whole “Sonic goes on World Tour and meets local FFs of the week” too.

As opposed to a series in general that depends on 20+ years of lore?
