While pacing back and forth, a thought occured to me: What exactly is the first issue supposed to be about again?

Oh, man... where is my head, Infinite (thus Sonic Forces). I don't know why... but I get those two so mixed up I thought they had the same name.

I wasn't aware either were Star Wars characters.

Apparently it's Sonic cleaning Eggman's mess after their last battle, meeting friends old and new along the way.

That sounds more like the entire beginning arc [afterwards] rather than the first issue itself.

Wasn't Something along the lines of Sonic save random village #1 from the Forces fallout, and teaming up with Tails to get the job done.

You know what, fudgit; I'm just gonna look it up.

EDIT: Okay, here we go:

Spoiler

Cover RI-A

SONIC'S RACING INTO A NEW ADVENTURE! After defeating the evil Dr. Eggman's latest plot, Sonic is racing around the world to shut down the robotic Badnik forces that are still attacking villages. But it's a big job for one hedgehog—even Sonic! Fortunately, he'll have some help from his best friend: Tails![2]

Sonic’s new adventure continues, and when he comes across another town in need of saving, his old pal Amy arrives just in time to join the fight! The banter is fun, and the stakes are high, but things get really serious when Amy presents Sonic with a big request: rejoin the Resistance![2]

Sonic and Knuckles team up, and it’s just like old times—until two new villains show up. With a group of villagers under attack, will even the combined forces of these two heroes be enough to take down Rough and Tumble???[2]

IDW Sonic 4 Raw

Sonic comes across a town under attack from the biggest Badnik force he’s ever seen. Luckily, help is on the way from his old friend Blaze, as well as a new hero! Get ready for the debut of Tangle![2]

Huh. Whaddya know, he was right.

What are elements you want and  don't want to see in the comic?

I don't want:

-I don't want to see phantom ruby take the place of the chaos emerlads.

-An overpowered Infinite.

-No new game adaptations, just elements (like the new characters, new gimmicks...)

I want:

-AoSTH characters if possible.

-Chao here and there.

-Extreme gears as transportation in long distances.

Not sure if I want or not:

-SaTAM characters.

Do y'all think that Mighty and Ray have a shot in the comics now that they're showing up in Mania Plus?

I think they would already be in the comics anyway don't they?

They were on the list of Character that can be expected to show up within the first two years, yes.

Well Fang/Nack and crew showed up as the Hooligans in Mania. They didn't have any connection before besides all being in the same fighting game. Bean and Bark weren't even implied to be "bad" in the game either.

Now we have Mighty & Ray making a come back, and Ray even has his shoe design from the comics..personally I'm assuming they will work with the comic personalities, especially since they seemed to do so with the Hooligans.

Personally I'd like Ian to go into Mighty's pacifism that the Knuckles Chaotix manual stated.  His reboot incarnation was nice and all, but the whole temper problem he had felt too cliché.

I need to see this.

I think he was primarily trying to imply offscreen character development there and "spice up" Mighty in the process.

What I don’t want to see is over the top Classic era pandering. The classic side already has an update to Mania and animated shorts.

Sure there’s the Sonic Racing game that will most likely have my favorite characters in it and be a break from the Classic fest. But it wouldn’t be surprising if they opted out of the story mode. A key aspect that got me involved with the first 2 Sonic Riders games (didn’t have an Xbox 360 so I couldn’t play Free Riders even if I wanted to).

I just want a break from the “member classic era high” and have something that has the same energy and effort that got me into Sonic in the first place without it being compromised by genesis era pandering.

Yeah! I loved how the first 2 Riders game had this "Sonic Adventure" feel in the story, even if it's a racing game, it had an interesting mythology.

The thing with characters is that, generally, it's up to the writers' interpretations of them. Their personalities are less of an Archie thing and more of an Ian thing. Plus the above mentioned the Hooligans appeared how they were in Mania, so I'm pretty sure they won't get changed.

Honestly (And I know I'll get lynched by certain parts of the fandom for this) just keep going the way Post-Reboot Archie was. It was a good mix of Game Elements and original ideas and honestly while yes the Unleashed storyline went on a bit too long I still think it was more tightly written and was more consistently good than the Pre-Reboot stuff.

Just keep that style of storytelling (Which must have worked because I've seen more Post-Reboot fanart than Pre) and I think it'll be pretty good. And I get killed in 3...2...1.
