I can only say that whatever happened in the intro and at the end of green hill and throwing everything close to each other in someway. Almost reminds me of a certain group and their "world chaos".

Oh right I never caught up with the start of the game. I started at Oil Ocean.

Don't spoil it. But at least that tells me that at least there's some degree of logic to the stages order.

Both Sonic and Tails are shrunk by the laser, but if Tails respawns AFTER Sonic passes through the growing laser, Tails keeps his shrunk size.
