Confess Your First Hit, Death, and Game Over in Sonic Mania

Pfft, my first game over was pathetic, I was desperatly looking for those rings leading to Chaos emerald stages, and in Sky Battery zone act 1 at the first time you go outside, I spotted some platforms below the normal route, so I kept jumping down and dying, looking for the bonus stage. But there weren't any.
Don't remember the first hit or death. Earliest death I remember is being randomly crushed to death in Chemical plant zone when I just bumped into the moving blocks from the side, when the purple water rises.

My first Game Over was the Oil Ocean Zone Act 2 boss with Knuckles. That oil in combination with Knuckles' low jump arc is infuriating, honestly. You pretty much cannot fall in.

 

Just got done playing as Knuckles and reading this made me slightly less angry. Glad I'm not the only one.

My first hit was probably a buzz bomber, I don't remember.

My first death was the Studiopolis Act 1 boss.

My first game over was to the Oil Ocean Act 2 boss.

I beat the final boss as Tails last night, with no game overs, but I lost a lot of lives. I spent the rest of that night replaying green hill act 1, until I unlocked all the chaos emeralds. I'm going to later try replaying the final world as super Tails.

I started playing Knuckles's story mode, and I can tell I might get my first game over eventually...

Wait, you can replay Green Hill Zone over and over to get all the chaos emeralds?
So I don't have to desperatly search for the bonus stages?
I thought those Bonus level rings didn't respawn.

Ghah, so I've been stressing over finding these darn things for nothing.

I'll admit it. I game-overed on Chemical Plant's first underwater segment.
... What? I beat the game eventually! xD

You have to beat the game first. I beat it as Tails, so I was able to select which level I wanted to go back to. Just keep going to Green Hill Zone, find that first special stage ring, and try it out. After each completion/fail, quit the game, reload the level, and keep trying until you get all the emeralds.

I just beat that freaking octopus boss as Knuckles after  losing a bunch of lives. I had 13 at first, but now have 8 lives... I freaking hate that boss, even the final boss was less frustrating. Luckily I was able to stock up on lives, I still haven't gotten a game over yet.

 I haven't tried the real final battle yet, but I wanted to play through Knuckles's and Sonic's levels first.
