We know that Chaos is considered the guardian of the chao so it could be concerning them if Infinite has done something that endangers them. It's up in the air for why Chaos has joined the villain team and same for Shadow. But as to why Chaos is here it can just simply be because to quote Sonic battle Knuckles says Chaos appears in times of great crisis.
