Will you continue to support Modern Sonic if Forces is poorly recieved?

If Sonic Forces does end up being received poorly, will you continue supporting Modern Sonic afterwards? I'm not referring to anything involving Mania or Whitehead. Just Modern Sonic.

Yes, I doubt he'll get away from his laughing stock status anytime but I'll always support the Modern games because I truly care about 3D Sonic and I WANT to see them improve.

Modern Sonic has potential to be great and I just know it, but with Sonic Team sticking around, it just may be a little difficult considering we're kinda dealing with a Goldilocks situation here.

I support good games.

So really depends on that more than what type of game it is.

Why the heck would I buy a bad game?

Its not even about supporting a franchise, im not buying a game I wont even like just to keep Sonic alive, that's dumb lmao.

Not unless they radically change how they're handling the series and actually start making good games. And that's looking less and less likely every day.

If they make a great game regardless of which Sonic branch it is... Then of course I'll buy it! xD

I will always support Modern Sonic in some type of way. Sonic was my childhood and I'm not going to hate sonic because of a crappy game they make here and there.

Not all franchises are perfect, so I will still support Modern Sonic.

Only if a good game comes along. Modern Sonic isn't an old buddy of mine who's going through a tough time. He's a fictional video game character. If his game sucks fuck em. If it's good I'll play it.

Perhaps because while Forces is criticized for lazy design choices and very rudimentary level design, I still have faith in Modern Sonic after seeing how Generations advanced the series. I know they can do it, but the question is will they follow in Generation's footsteps.

The Casino level for Classic Sonic was executed fairly well which renewed some of my faith, but we'll have to wait and see if they maintain this momentum as the game progresses at the very least.

It's still to early to judge. But like many others have already said. I'll support a good game. (Genz, Unleashed, Adventure series) I refuse to support a bad game. (Boom series)

Of course I will! Modern’s always had my favorite games, even if everyone else seems to hate them. Yes, I’m talking about 06 too.

I never cared if it was Modern Sonic or Classic Sonic. All I want is a good quality Sonic game to play. I have standards and don't just buy any type of garbage because Sonic's face is on it.

@Blue Blood covered it best. While I may prefer one style of Sonic over another, I don't have any qualms of showing some level of support for them as long as they are still good games.

But Forces to me just looks like a bad attempt at everything its trying to be --a third of a Boost Sonic game, a third of a classic Sonic game, a third of a Sonic spinoff/gadget-based game, etc.-- and just looks like a subpar game in general. It doesn't get any support from me whatsoever.

We're three weeks away from Forces' release, and we're still saying this as a defense for the game?

If I can support modern Sonic through the Shadow/06 era, I think I can support him through just about anything.

Would it really be Modern Sonic's fault?  After all, from what they've shown so far Modern Sonic appears to be barely in the game, compared to Classic and the Avatar!  ...Jokes aside, that's probably a very bad sign for his gameplay.

What do you mean by 'support'?

If by 'support' you mean constantly pointing out and loudly gesticulating in the general direction of poor game design decisions then I imagine I'll be doing it until I am physically no longer able to. As stated by @Blue Blood, I will stand by and support any good Sonic game with all my heart should Sonic Team (or whoever else) finally get it together and make one. Until then, I'll 'support' them by complaining about obvious bad decisions till they fucking learn.

I support good games.

The Sonic series has to succeed or fail on its own. I won't buy games that I think aren't fun or well-made. The vast majority of modern Sonic games do not deserve my purchase, and because of that I will not spend a dime on them.

The idea that I should "support" a bad series out of brand loyalty is ridiculous.

I'm going to keep supporting the franchise I love. But if I think a game is bad, I won't buy it. It's why I have yet to buy '06 (no, not even for "Is this game really that bad?" reasons; I know it's that bad, and besides, it doesn't make SEGA any money anymore).

I pre-ordered Forces because I believe there is still good in the game and I want to judge it for myself. If I end up thinking it's bad, fine-- that's on me, and I'll be more cautious in the future.

Yeah. So long as a game looks fun to me, I'll buy it. Doesn't matter if its Sonic or any other franchise. Just so happens that most Modern Sonic games look fun to me, while a lot of Classic Sonic games and Classic-based games do not.

Honestly, I don't even mind that some folks don't like the looks of Forces. What I don't like, and what I fear is already happening, is when discussion gets to the point where people are criticizing others just for liking or even showing some interest in something they don't like. Because you can criticize any aspect and iteration of Modern Sonic without passing unfair, passive aggressive, and/or insulting judgements on people that just poisons the well and makes productive discussion impossible. If that is what almost all Forces discussions become as a result of poor reception, then I'll just duck out and play by myself. I don't need the approval of mainstream media or even fellow fans for me to enjoy something.

That is NOT what I meant, at all.

I only buy and support a Sonic game if it’s a good one nowadays. I was unlucky with Sonic Lost World thinking it was going to be as good as Generations, but I’m not giving Sonic Team the benefit of the doubt this time. If they can’t pull themselves together and keep churning out these bland, boring looking 3D/2D platformers then fuck it, I’m not buying them.
