Sonic Forces OST - Fist Bump (Piano ver.)

There is essentially zero chance of the Avatar character dying.  They aren't going to kill a player self-insert character (it's unlikely enough that they'll kill anyone), and they certainly won't scrap an endlessly reuseable idea.  Sonic Team's incompetence is the only wild card in this calculation.

Honestly, I'm kinda on the fence about this since players (mainly kids imo) can eventually get attached to their avatars...I can imagine some bad reactions here and there if he/she dies...

I see where you are coming from, but i think these reactions would be uncommon, (and before someone bring this up, yes i remember Shadow's case)

and i don't think of a better way to end your character's journey, also how would they explain his abscence from the upcoming games? (i know there are many other possible explanations, i just feel they are dull)

I don't know. The avatar, his bond with Sonic, his role and customization are being heavily marketed as a strong point of this game. Killing him would be a very silly move and, as you said, there's other and more creative ways to explain his future after Forces ends.
