If we're getting a day one patch of this magnitude, that's pretty fucking pathetic. That's a lot of missing content since I'm assuming we're getting some missing story content also.

I'm hoping that the red rings unlock a secret special boss, something to make up for that... strange... lack of ending and that awkward ass Kung-Fu pose from the Avatar in the results screen.

So this means they left Infinite's backstory in Shadow's dlc. :/

Heck you would think if that's case then doesn't Shadow know of Infinite's creation and why didn't he bother to bring it up?

And I thought it was a joke. I laughed. No one at Sonic Team could possibly be that fucking stupid. It wasn't possible.

 

 

And yet. I read through this thread. And it happens? That fucking scene actually fucking happens? A series with brightly colored cartoon animals, existing for 26 fucking years, has put that in an actual game. Four fucking years, apparently, and not a single god damned person said anything? It's interesting that your name has Shadow in it. Were you a Sonic fan when Shadow the Hedgehog was released? Were you even alive when Shadow the Hedgehog was announced?

Because I was here. I saw firsthand the goodwill that Sonic Heroes and its media onslaught had brought with it. Heroes wasn't a fantastic game by any stretch, but people liked it well enough to lump it in with the Adventures that they really liked. The media covered it extensively. Sonic X was terrible but popular. The series was on its two feet with room to grow. People were hopeful. And all of that, and more, were completely destroyed overnight when ShtH was announced. It was irrelevant how good or bad the game was, because the entire concept was a fucking joke and everyone older than the eight years old required to think "Damn" was a serious swear knew it.

 

 

 

 

 

There is no goodwill to the series flight now. Sega is fresh off dumping the last vestigial links to the series' true glory days in a fantastically shitty manner. Off dropping a gamma strength piece of shit the likes of which the series has only seen once before in Rise of Lyric. Off actively alienating an entire platform of buyers and the devlopment team in question. People love Mania, but even laypeople seem to know Sega had little to do with it beyond fucking up its PR. And now Sega has dropped this... Piece of shit that we will be hrearong about for another decade solely because of colossally fucking stupid images like the above, once again irrelevant of any actual game quality or lackthereof. It's going to be a very hard fucking five years at least for Sonic fans, and the thing you called people to calm down over is going to be the rallying point.

 

This game could be the best fucking game in the entire series, and it won't matter. It could come out and change the entire industry, the Super Mario 64 of its time, and it won't matter. And since even me, barely following the game info, knows it won't be either of those and the best it can hope for is "not an embarrassment" or "technically competent", what is going to happen? Who is going to actually go to bat and defend that image above?

He has some lines I believe on the world map. It also sounds like a big chunk of the backstory, including Infinite's true origins, are tied to his DLC, so I guess most of his lines and actions were reserved for the DLC.

The ending was actually kind of sweet, and we got to see the characters who were there kicking some rear. It reminded me a little of countdown to destruction. Now to wait for the Expansion Pack...

Just seeing some of the cut scenes, this game from a story perspective had SO much potential, but definitely fell short. I almost want to re-write it and make it better dammit.

And my favorite character, Tails, they totally ruined him in this game from what I've seen.

At least Sonic's characterization is pretty decent. And I enjoy seeing a competent Knuckles again.

Sonic loves to run, never stay in one place for too long, and see new sights and meet new people with his friends. Being confined to a cell, unable to run, cut off from his friends, only surrounded by enemies, and forced to watch Eggman destroy the world he spent most of his life defending is very much torture. So I think that line fits without being what people automatically imagine. There is absolutely no indication of any type of physical torture being done to Sonic in the game.

This game takes a shit on the saying  "show, don't tell". There's no substance to any of this shitty story, which is probably it's biggest flaw in my eyes. If you're going all out and choose to make your story a clusterfuck, then do so in a way that covers everything, not just briefly skims over everything.
