How would a Sonic x NiGHTS work? And should Eggman be involved?

Hey, guys. Today I’m thinking about how a crossover between Sonic and NiGHTS** would work, and if Eggman should be involved. Gameplay-wise, I would want it to be a mix of NiGHTS gameplay and Sonic Lost World gameplay*.

*Without the blister-inducing run button.

**The comics don’t count because it was part of the “Worlds Unite” event, which NiGHTS was merely a part of.

If Eggman showed up he'd team up with Wiseman. Thanks to his mechanical knowledge he creates hybrid Nightmaren-Badniks and their new power source, the Nightopians.

I may have thought about this more than once.

Well, actually the only thing which comes in my mind now in how this would work is at the SRB2 (Fan Game) Special Stage:

But I don't know how (and why) this would/should be implemented in the series. I know that Nights have a lot of things in common with Sonic, but I can't see a good use of this, except in some kind of bonus stuff. As said, this crossover seems more interesting in another media than properly in a games.
