Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - DADDY SAKURAI'S WILD RIDE HAS CONCLUDED

Hell, you can still see the Blue Falcon and Fire Stingray if Falcon and Goroh appear in Big Blue. Alfonso's appearance in the Spirit Tracks stage seems like more of a convenient continuity nod than a rule of thumb if you ask me =V

The fact that there can be two moons in Great Bay should be enough of a hint that being in the background of an old stage means nothing.

Uh, you do know that Knuckles still shows up in the background there as well,  right?

No, I did not, otherwise I wouldn't have made the post at all. Why do you have to say it like that?

@SupahBerry I'd assume the background changes which would make the first moon disappear. A lot of Assist Trophies change the background.

Frankly, I'm still not entirely convinced Knuckles appearing in GHZ isn't an oversight that might not make it into the final game.

Yep. So do a lot of final smashes. I think the moon is going to have to do something like that in at least some levels, like Shadow Moses Island.

"When Tails, Knuckles and Silver join  the battle,  3 Alphonzos replace the trio on Green Hill Zone."

Alphonzo: "Leave it to me."

In all seriousness, what did you guys think about Sonic getting two stages?  I'm excited about that but am still upset about Rainbow Road and Poke Floats...

Sonic getting two stages is nice, but Green Hill and Windy Hill are so thematically similar that it's a little redundant. I'm also not a huge fan of how GHZ plays, but walk-offs in general aren't really my cup of tea.

If Sonic were to get a third stage through DLC or something, I'd love to see one based on a different locale.

Casino Night Zone would be the obvious choice for me. Hazards could include flippers and bumpers, as well as those little multi-colored "safety net" platforms that bounce you back up when you're about to fall off the board. Casinos are also a recurring theme throughout the series, and therefore appropriately Sonic-y.

windy hill is from a modern game though

In all seriousness having two Sonic stages doesn't really do anything for me because they're both ones we've seen before - simply porting them over, flaws and all, is the bare minimum Sakurai could honestly have done with them. All the same, I'm really not expecting any more than that.

I'd like to see a transforming Mania stage similar to Mushroom Kingdom U, with the Phantom Ruby acting as the transition. (Maybe add Eggman or a Heavy as the stage boss) Or just give us a Casino Night pinball arena like Solly suggested.

But if we're talking strictly Modern, Egg Gate or Final Rush/Chase would be pretty cinematic.

Like... I really hope Shadow is playable and all, but what if we also get like Tails and Eggman??? That'd be amazing.

I could also see City Escape working as a stage with the GUN truck acting as the hazard every now and then.(or perhaps you’re occasionally riding on it and it acts as the transition to another notable location from the stage)

So, we're all praying for Shadow. And if he get's in, we'll thank nicely and demand Tails. Then Eggman, Then Knuckles. Then Amy. And if Nintendo submits to our ludicrous demands we still have more ammo.

With that said, my question is: what 3rd party characters you want from franchises are already in Smash (Megaman, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, etc.), be their echos or not.

My votes

Spoiler

Pacman, Bayonetta could have echos, but I don't care. Same for Shovel, Rayman, Monster Hunter or Bomberaman, if they ever become full characters.

Metal Gear should get Raiden and/or Grey Fox. Maaaybe Big Boss echo.

Castlevania would be awesome to have Alucard/Dracula, I'm just unsure who would be echo here.

Street Fighter...honestly here we could add characters till infinity and I'm not keen on that. Ken can be echo, but I would stop here.

Final Fantasy is the hardest. Do you keep pandering to most popular FF7 with Sephiroth, Tiffa or Zack? Go to classics with Black Mage, Terra, Kefka (maaaybe Cecil)? Or promote new games, with Noctis (or Lightning, if you want to piss few people)? Cid with bunch of skins? I'm honeestly stumped here (at least we can all agree for Chocobo/Moogle Assist Trophy).

Megaman I would push to the limits, Proto, Bass, Roll, Willy, X, Zero, Tron. I think Protoman would be best choice for now. He can have all moves Megaman has, just change final Smash for "Red Legend" with Zero, Proto.Exe and those kids from ZX. I realize that's a lot of models to make so how about making them flat images that appear behind him as sorta 'help in spirit'? That sounds relatively cheap. (I know X would be easier to make Final Smash, but then you need to redo all Robot Master moves.)

In other words, it's leaking time.

If they're using an older build demo like the E3 one, then doubtful.

Why the fuck is this so limited? Smash U had /a lot/ more locations when they did the Best Buy thing. Oregon isn’t listed this year so my interest here plummeted. (Why does Nintendo and Square not like me?dont they know I wanna play Smash and KH3 like everyone else??? ;_; )

WELP. Can’t say I’m not disappointed in hearing this. I’d like to believe this is fake, but this dudes apparently very reliable when it comes to the leak scene, and I don’t see why he’d blatantly lie like this

edit: looking at the comments, a lot of people seem to be adding stuff this YouTubed left out, which paints him as not nearly as credible as this guy makes out. So...eh guess this is up in the air still?

Depends really, an older build could still have stuff that dataminers could find if they somehow get their hands on it.

Considering the way they handled their data after the Ryu leak for Smash 4, I'd be surprised if they weren't expecting it this time. All the other characters they had planned after that point were given placeholder names instead, so the only thing dataminers really divined after that was how many characters they expected to add as DLC.

So the most likely newcomers now are Skull Kid, Geno, and Isaac. Three characters that I don't care about. I'm happy for people that want them, but the list of characters added to Ultimate so far don't interest me personally.

All the characters I wanted like Knuckles, Zero, Shovel Knight, and Waluigi are all Assist Trophies.

Now I'm waiting for them to reveal the Rayman Assist Trophy to kill my hopes again. lol

Are they really the most likely? Or just the most talked about lately?

I could honestly see Skull Kid getting in as a boss fight.

Though, hasn't the E3 demo build been playable elsewhere where stuff could've been leaked if present?

Sakurai having the background reflect seemingly Skull kid, and Reggie having that skull kid figure on his table during that trailer of diablo 3 Switch, seems like a lot of teasing for a simple boss character if those were intentional. And yeah I know those two are stretches, but it’s not like Nintendo are dumb about the talk about Skull kid atm. And I don’t think they’d wanna purposely raise people’s expectations for something not happening.

Not to mention that Duck Hunt is on his own stage, the Ghosts were a trophy and stage element in Smash for the 3Ds, and DK's shadow appears in the house on Jungle Japes.

So anything can happen in terms of relations to stage and characters for playability and their chances as an assist trophy!

Why should we assume that any of this means what we think it means, or that it's purposeful at all? Unless there's some detail I missed, the background in the Smash direct "reflecting" Skull Kid amounts to...there being a purple chair and a yellow chair. And they represent Tatl and Tael. Because nothing else related to Nintendo is purple and yellow. Because they can't have just put some chairs they had lying around in there to fill space.

And, ok, so Reggie had a Skull Kid figure on his desk. In a video completely unrelated to Smash. Alongside a (TP, I think) Zelda figure, a Sheikah slate notepad, a master sword, a DK barrel, a plush green shell, a Cappy-eyed Mario cap, and a bullet bill. Why single out the Skull Kid figure? Why think that any of this is any kind of hint?

There's no actual evidence here, just grasping at random background objects to try and fit into some preexisting theory.

Apparently Cranky Kong is Donkey Kong...we already knew that and it still makes no sense.
