Is there anyway to play Sonic 06 on the PC?

Only consoles. There are some emulation projects going on but neither are truly playable at the moment.

Mostly console only. There is a 360 emulator being worked on called Xenia, but I don't know how stable 06 is with it (they've got Unleashed working pretty well!). There's an in-development unity port of the game as well, but it's not the full game...and why would you want to remake 06 and basically change nothing.

Don't worry, you're not missing out on anything regardless. It'd be better to just grab a beer and put on Hellfire's or BrainScratch's commentaries on the game (or clementJ64's review). There's more hours of enjoyment there than any main Sonic game released from 2004 to 2008.

Well, there IS a remake, but it's unfinished.

Not to mention, why would you want to play this game? Just play something good, like Lost World or Generations, that is on the PC no problem.

Going to ask that we keep unhelpful responses to a minimum.  Like, it's been twelve years.  We know Sonic '06 sucks already.  I don't think anybody actually needs a reminder. XP

Only on PS3 and Xbox 360. Its not even  up for digital download anymore but all the DLC is still available. But you can get a copy pretty cheap these days.

Officially it was only released on the 360 and the PS3, apparently it was also going to be released on PC but it got cancelled. At the moment, they are the only ways of playing 06 apart from a fan made Unity port that's in early development. So if you own either console or both, you would have to buy it.

As for emulation. There is a PS3 emulator called RPCS3 that has been making strides and can emulate quite a bit of the console, more recently harder to emulate games such as The Last of Us have shown promise. Looking at the compatibility list though, neither this game, Unleashed or Generations are mentioned so it is unknown whether it works at the moment. Looking around, Unleashed crashes before entering the first stage due to timing issues so imagine 06 would have similar issues. The downloadable Sonic games such as CD, Sonic the Fighters and the Sonic 4 games do work though. It might take a few months or next year before they might be playable and even then chances are that you need a powerful computer to play on them but at least it'll be higher than 720p when they work. For the 360 there's Xenia but again unknown whether it works. Apparently the demo got to boot up or might be mixing up with Unleashed however progress is slower since currently only one person is working on the emulator.

@Eurisko Strangely enough 06 along with the console Sonic games are some of the more expensive games to get whether new (if you can still find copies) or used. Not quite niche RPG pricey but more expensive than COD/Assassin's Creed/many 1st party games, around the same price range as the LEGO and the Spider-Man games. Considering that you can pick up a majority of the 360/PS3 library for peanuts these days.

@King Kooponeyeah , I probably should have mentioned that. Sonic ‘06 is relatively cheap but not bargain basement prices. I have seen copies for £6-10 but usually they rack up around £15-20.

Also wasnt ‘06 meant to have ended up on the Wii? But they either couldn’t or they thought  better of it in the end and that’s how we needed up with ‘Secret Rings’.

Truly a shame it hasn't been ported to PC yet...

An official port of 06 is rather,  a pipe dream for obvious reasons,  let's be honest.

Sonic Team set a team aside to work on a Wii port before they even knew the things specs (hence why they thought it could even run 06 in the first place, they had no idea the Wii was going to be underpowered), tried and failed to get ti to run, and decided to make another game just to have a Sonic game on the Wii, which was quite possibly the dumbest decision they could have made as it effectively cut 06's development team in half. And also gave us Secret Rings, but that's beside the point.

That was a  pretty dumb thing to do considering '06 was being rushed out the door anyway. They should have probably abandoned the idea all together when they found out that the Wii was not as powerful as the 360 or PS3. Cant help but wonder what could have been if they had done that. Would we have had a much more polished game? Though it is ironic that Secret Rings turned out to be the better experience - in my opinion anyway.

By the way thanks for the info and clearing that up.
