Cannot Embed Images In Posts

I already posted about this over here, but I thought it could do with its own topic, in hopes that I could give it more attention/get some help from staff.

I'm having problems embedding regular, non-animated images, using the "Insert image from URL" function. They just appear as links. Same thing happens if I simply paste the image U.R.L. directly.

It looks like it is inserting the image correctly in the editor, however it doesn't show up in the actual post.

Any ideas on what's happening here?

Could you post one of the image URLs that's not working?

Hmmm. I think it maybe either due to the size of the image or a hic-up in the embeder. I've had this happen to me before where it shows up fine in the preview, but doesn't show in the post. Either due to a issue with embeding or due to the size being beyond what the site will allow.

I say experiment with images to see what will and will not work.

This is the image that I had trouble embedding.

I think that I have discovered the problem.

Up until the recent issues/maintenance with this forum, I had no problems inserting images (Such as the one above.) into my posts. The forum would always resize the image down automatically, and then place a link in the downsized image to a larger view of it. However, when some forum changes started happening, the images began to only show as links.

The workaround I've found, is to embed images using a http prefix rather than https. For whatever the reason may be (At least with the image links I'm using.) the forum currently seems to have issues embedding images using a https prefix.

I've also noticed since the recent forum changes, that embedded images now appear in a larger size, but I like this.  🙂
