so, sonic musical spectacular 3 has passed. pretty great event all around! while i didn't stick around for the whole thing, the times i was there were really fun! it was nice to just get together, listen to a community-created playlist of sonic songs and talk about whatever. from tea, to beans, to rethinking your life choices, there were a lot of interesting discussions during the 9-hour event.

the celebration videos were also pretty great, even better than last year's videos! i like that the whole thing was shown as an attract mode type thing, and any video that uses mega collection's extras menu music gets some points from me.

overall, good event. i'd even say it's great! some might even say it was awesome, outstanding or amazing!

thanks to everyone who worked on this and everyone who attended for such a cool event!

Alright, with the event itself finally over, I think it's time to post the videos that premiered last night, including one that didn't show last night, the credits sequence. I highly advise giving it a watch, filled with more ambition than the previous two years and even a few jokes.

Anyways, here's the video.

Massive props have to go to @Polkadi~♪ and @The Deleter who both went hardcore into getting the remaining footage needed to get the video ready for the finale of the entire event. Massive display of teamwork shown by the both of them was what allowed the video in general to be ready in time, and with full respect to the other two videos, this one is easily my favourite one out of all three years. Not only for the unique and new style but the better consistency and theme.

Going into the event, myself and the Motobug staff had an idea for a solid theme this time around. As you could notice if you're a long-time participant of the event, the previous two years used a Sonic Advance theme while this time around it was based solely on Sonic Mega Collection Plus, and that's because it tied into the wider theme we wanted to go with this time - "History". Not only because Sonic is still blasting through towards 30 years, but this year was a huge milestone for us as well. Three years of Motobug, three years of streaming events for the SSMB community. As someone that's been there since Day 1 as part of the original Motobug crew with @The Deleter, it feels almost surreal to me in a way that not only that it's lasted this long, but people are still having tons of fun with it. It feels great to provide a place for SSMB members to have fun and watch stuff together. We wanted this to be more ambitious than the previous two years combined, and with the history theme, we wanted to give everyone who worked with Motobug a mention in the credits.

But it also unfortunately marks the end of an era in a sense, as the Sonic Musical Spectacular in it's current state as it is...will cease to exist.

DON'T PANIC YET, NOT DONE.

It will cease to exist in it's current state. Because this year was a smash success, destroying the number of requests from last year. We upped the event time by a full hour and a half. Last year, it was 8 hours and 15 minutes or so. This year, it was around 9 hours and 30 minutes. That is kind of insane for a full marathon stream. I've been on a bit of a unofficial break from streaming since the end of the DKC stream, since that was a straight line of Kirby, Mario Super Show and DKC back to back with no breaks inbetween and needed to prepare for this event and already I'm feeling like I need another break before the next event. On top of that, I fear others can't take part in the whole event because of this fact.

So because of that, Sonic Musical Spectacular will be under-going a revamp next year to not only make massive improvements but also allow us to add more to the event. While the Motobug crew are still considering how to alter things, one of the big things we've all decided on is that we want to change it from a one day affair to a two day affair, effectively splitting up the streaming time between two days. This means that not only will time constraints not be as big of a worry but hopefully means the event won't have to run as late into the night for people as it usually does, and because of that, next year we could potentially add a few more request slots and such. We're hoping with these improvements, we can make next year even better than this year was.

Anyways, that's not all I want to say. First off, I want to give a massive thanks to everyone who took part this year. If you threw in your requests, if you joined the stream at any point, or even stayed throughout the entire stream like quite a few people did, it was a massive amount of fun for me to host this event for the third year in a row. I've said it once before that I feel like Sonic Musical Spectacular perfectly fits in as a event made by the community for the community. It couldn't work as a one man operation. It requires so much hard work and effort from others with different skills. @Polkadi~♪ and @The Deleter's hard work on creating the video and gathering all of the footage needed for it to come to life, @Forte-Metallix and @Spin Attaxx's work in helping me oversee nearly the entirety of the stream last night, @DanJ86's excellent art assets including the brilliant logo he made for the event, and that's not to mention all of the other things the rest of the Motobug crew put in to make this thing a reality. While I was the one who came up with a few of the base ideas, it was these guys who all came together as a team to breath life into these ideas and make it incredible, and I cannot thank them enough for the hard work they all put in to make it a reality. These guys deserve a massive round of applause and a massive amount of credit, because without them, it wouldn't be possible. So to the rest of the Motobug team - @The Deleter @Forte-Metallix @Polkadi~♪ @Kiah @DanJ86 @Failinhearts @Crow the BOOLET @gala @Kaze no Klonoa @Spin Attaxx - no matter what your contributions were to the event at large, thank you for helping make it a reality, not just this year, but for all the previous years as well.

But you all deserve credit too. SSMB, the members who all joined in to make this a reality. Those who popped in with their requests, those who joined us to watch the massive playlist created by you guys. Those like @blueblur98 who made a wallpaper for the event, those who showed massive enthusiasm for the event, those who've been with Motobug from the beginning or just joining in for the first time. You all made this a reality. You made Motobug a absolute pleasure to not only run, but to have fun with. You guys are what have made the last three years possible and I cannot thank you enough for doing so. You made this event and the previous events a reality because it was something you guys had fun with, and something you guys took time to take part in. Throughout the heavy debates and the opinions regarding Mania and Forces, SSMB as a community still came together to make this event a reality, and I think if anyone deserves credit, it's the community who worked hard to make this event a reality. The event still isn't quite done as we work to distribute the badges that are owed to those who took place, but they will come in due time.

With that said, thank you to everyone who took part, and I hope we see you again next year for another round of a new, and improved Sonic Musical Spectacular.

I am so sad I didn't get to see any of my requests air,  but hey,  at least I put my name on this series right? I did not know what time the stream goes in my country(far off from the US,  a HK +8 timezone). But,  hey,  should've asked for a conversion right?

Depending on when you go to sleep and get back up, you probably wouldn't have seen much anyway. It started at midnight in your timezone.

This was a really fun stream! I almost forgot it was happening on the 21st. I joined as the Shadow tracks started playing so I still got to watch a good chunk of the stream ^^ I would've liked to have interacted with everyone more but I was on mobile so that was easier said than done ^^ Still really good to hear everyone's picks ^^

Again as a few stated on the stream the only change I would suggest is to split the stream across 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) ^^ As a whole though everyone did a great job!

Time to wrap things up here! That includes the giving out of badges and some final words from me. My apologies for the delay on both accounts.

The quality from the artwork to the banners and the videos was outstanding and was a real delight to look at. There are some very talented members of the Motobug crew and SSMB for that matter! The dedication and hard work put in by everyone involved ought to be commended as you all put on a great show. Thank you for that, and thank you very much for your thoughtfulness, dedication and hard work in once again doing something fun and entertaining for the community. It was great with the first event and you all made it a point to go above and beyond last year and definitely this year with the Sonic Musical Spectacular 3.

Per usual with any event that I sponsor I like to come up with some statistics:   

• 41 members participated! This was the highest amount of participants ever for this event!
• All the participants came up with 163 awesome Sonic songs! 
• The Sonic game with the most requests was Sonic Mania with 9 songs
• Sonic Unleashed was second with 6 songs 
• Sonic Forces rounded out the top 3 with 5 (there were other categories with 5 requests but they were in groups. Forces was the only game to have 5 all by itself.)

We weren't able to get a official count of those that attended the stream. Guess we were too busy enjoy that awesome music . As for the stream like last year, I was out of town for a quick weekend trip but I was able to join in via mobile just in time for that Sonic Mania goodness . It was short and sweet and I had fun hanging out with everyone on the stream. 

The badges have been awarded at this point. I hope you all enjoy them 

A big THANK YOU to all involved from the hard working creators to the enthusiastic participants and everyone in between, your contributions and collaboration in this community event was a success. May this success continue between changes-both already established changes and changes yet to come no matter how significant-between now and the next event.
