Honestly, and I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk, but outside of Mina and maybe Elias it still doesn't feel like a big loss to me.

I don't have anything against...some of the characters but outside of Ian's run most of them never really clicked with me.

They might not have clicked for you. They did so for others. I'm not fond of making a spectacle over something that happened half a decade ago, but I understand where it comes from. Just because it didn't exist for you doesn't mean it didn't exist for others.
