New Super Mario Bros U - Deluxe - Switch - January 11th 2019

Jon from Gamexplain got to play it (No footage, I'm afraid) , and he talks about what few changes have been made:

-The spin is now mapped to the jump button.

-You can now only pick things up by shaking your controller.  (Seriously, Nintendo: you have more than enough buttons on your controllers. Use them, and stop making motion controls mandatory.)

-"Blue Toad is dead now. He's no longer here." RIP

-Toadette is "Easy Mode", Nabbit is "Easiest Mode". "Peachette is basically the Flying Squirrel suit, but with a bit more mobility." Her floating is more like the Squirrel suit's glide than Peach's classic hover, but still better than the former. Aside from this new power-up, though, Toadette plays the exact same as the Bros. and Yellow.

-Nabbit plays the same as NSLU. Still can't pick up things or use power-ups.

-No one else can use the Super Crown. They just get points for touching it.

-Apparently a Super Acorn also turns Toadette into Peachette.

-New Super Luigi U still gives everyone Luigi physics, and all five characters are playable in both. More importantly, Player 1 can now choose anyone instead of having to be the protagonist.

Perhaps this'll help silence the ____ette fad if it's power doesn't even come from the Super Crown exclusively. (Unless maybe they start drawing Bowsette in a Squirrel Fur-Coat)

I don't know why anyone in hindsight was so worried by merely an overglorified Acorn powerup, which fits perfectly in line with the creative bankruptcy of this series and this port. Also, it's rather baffling why they even got rid of Blue Toad to begin with, thus making the forth player lock to the easy mode gimmick characters instead of being same as the other three.

For me, the other big lost would be Boost Mode and having a fifth player placing platforms. They did point out in the video that they could do what the Switch NES 2 player does and have them point the Joy Con to place the blocks, so that would be fine.

Nevertheless, I'm still placing this alongside Captain Toad's port as being a game with certain unbroken elements swapped out for new ones, as opposed to MK8 and TF, which has all the same content from the original plus even more, and fixes what is broken.

Considering we already have Meowser fanart of Bowsette, yeah that'll be a thing.

Oh, Toadette can use the Flying Squirrel Suit, after all:

And the Super Crown responds to everyone else like Nabbit does to enemies: Not at all. They just walk right past it.

I'm really starting to question Jon's above claims.

So apparently you can actually still play as Blue Toad if you hold L or ZL on Yellow Toad.

That's pretty cool, huh?

It would be if he was a separate character from Yellow. As is, it does nothing to address the problem of 4-player co-op giving at least one player an unfair advantage. (And Luigi U's even worse, since Mario's excluded)

I thought co-op was supposed to be working together, not against each other.
