One thing that should be pointed out is Knuckles' description in Sonic Jam which describes his fists as "spiked knuckles" rather than simply saying that the gloves themselves are spiked.

From the story mode preview, I really like how Eggman is characterized so far. Despite being trapped with his enemies, he seems intrigued and fascinated by his new surroundings, which fits his scientific curiosity:

 

I don't know. It would've been easy to just write him and Bowser as a pair of interchangeably evil jerks, but so far they're doing a good job making Eggman more manic and curious, while Bowser's more grounded. Given Eggman's interest in exploring ancient cultures and finding lost continents in the mainline games, him wanting to experience the history of the '64 Olympics for himself feels right.

I'm really looking forward to more of his interactions with Bowser, as well as all the others.

I wouldn't say Bowser was grounded, he's just much more focused on the competition part since he's eager to get physical over the heroes.

Yeah, he, Rouge, and to an extent Zavok had noticeably different tones.

In his case, it kinda sounds like his original voice.

EDIT: Also, why does Dr. Nega sound like DK constipated?

He should, their pitch is not all the different. Also the same person.

They've decided to change the voice direction for him. 

I've checked, and it's still Matt Mercer as his VA.

Interesting. Colleen's Tails and Charmy voices were already barely different.  She had to make Charmy's voice a bit higher pitched for Forces since Charmy in Generations sounds so much like how Tails does now. 

Also, Eggman the Stud. "Why hellooo everyone!"
