Charmy's not in the referee section because he doesn't have a new outfit. 

Espio isn't there because Triple Jump has yet to be shown off, although why they decided to show off the guest characters so unevenly is another matter entirely.

I'm disappointed that the demo didn't have Tails and Luigi playable since it's already been revealed that they're the main characters of the story mode alongside the titular characters

I'll have to try him out tomorrow. I'm excited to test out the few events they've given us to preview.

Fair enough, I suppose. Shadow is arguably the least mysterious character in the entire series, given we know his entire backstory and pretty much everything else about him at this point.

Yeah, but this is just a short trivia card for a lighthearted Olympics spin-off, not a complete bio for Shadow or a reason to blame Iizuka/Sega/Sonic Team. Personally, the only thing I see with that part is "Do you want to know more about him? Play the Sonic games. Play SA2/Heroes/Shadow/Sonic Battle/etc.".

Saying anything about Shadow's past is shrouded in mystery is a vain and obvious attempt to keep the rule of cool tethered to him. 

What's cool? Mysterious people. They're cool. We'll say thats Shadow, despite the fact that he's the only one out of the entire cast whose past has been explored from top to bottom. Fucking Charmy's past is more mysterious than his. Its more stupid than a sign of missing lore.

But that card literally says he was born on the Ark. Anyone getting mad about this is taking it too seriously.

Because you only need one glove to fence with, so the other hand is just the default look for him.
