What do you think about gambling?

Recommended Posts

It's no secret gambling can lose a large amount of money, but also quickly win.
I would like to know what do you think about gambling? Do you play and how often?
I think this topic will be interesting for many.
I try to play not often and only in proven casinos, for example, online casino slot games no download and others.
And I would like to know the stories about big wins and losses.

My mother has a slight gambling addiction so I'm practically pre-programmed to dislike it. Though I also find it very confusing and extremely boring.

Even when video games include a form of gambling as a mini game, I still find them boring. But at least in video games, the only money you lose is the money you spent on the game.

My mother likes those slot machines the most and I actually hate them the most. But they are easier to understand at least. Anyway, those with loud music and flashing lights really disrupt my focus and actually cause anxiety for me.

In a world with Loot Boxes I think it's more important than ever to talk about gambling, as it's now sneaking undetected to our lives.

In a broad sense of the world every day is a gamble. I drive to work, risking car will hit me. I buy something on eBay, hoping I'm not scammed. Heck, isn't paying for your pension a form of gambling, as you assume you'll live long enough to get that money back?

Basically I believe "proper" gambling-gambling is pretty evil, but can't be banned as elements of risk/reward are fundamental parts of our lives. People should be educated and be able to choose on their own, like with smoking. In perfect world no one would do it, but we can't force people.

Serious question: is this appropriate for a forum about a children's game series?

Everyone can have an opinion on gambling. It's not like anyone is actually gambling in this thread.

Although I would like put my money on @Blacklightninggetting the most up-voted post.

Odd. Sex topics are banned here, presumably because it's unsuitable for anyone under 18. Gambling is something way more destructive and is illegal under the age of 18.

I find the rules here inconsistent is all.

To be fair, this is a UK based site and Gambling is legal here. I've been to beach resorts that have a wide range of slot machines and bingo that seem to let anyone of any age play.

They do also have an area cordoned off which is restricted to 18 and over but the only difference seems to be the reward for winning. Truth is, the world is inconsistent. Cultural differences will dictate if something in inappropriate for youth or not. Some countries are more open about sex, death, gambling. You can't really measure the whole world with what you've personally grown up with and unconsciously view as the norm.

I'd personally prefer that the vulnerable be protected from such temptation. Don't assume all gamblers are stupid, some act out of desperation, impulse or just plain boredom. A fact that I'm sure the gambling companies like to exploit.

If we’re referring to micro transactions and such in games, I think they’re pretty shit with little to no justification for them to be present. Especially in the AAA industry. That said, I can tolerate them better in free to play games cause that acts as your price of admission. There’s certainly ways to exploit and make them shit there(most mobile free to play games nowadays *looks especially at that new elder scrolls game*), but there have been examples of games that don’t constantly shove them at you, and are created with fun in mind first and foremost. I still find myself playing Warframe for example. Tons to accomplish and come back to without feeling like I need to spend, but willing to drop a few bucks every here and there since the core experience isn’t built to focus on that aspect. Hell, even fortnite seems to respect the player and creates a game first and foremost that’s fun.

Though all that said, I almost entirely hate loot box styled gambling no matter the game. That’s just always a constant for me.
