How would you finish Archie Sonic?

(Is it worth separate topic or should I put it in main topic? Eh I'm sure admins will merged it if necessary)

I think topic is self explanatory. Archie Sonic died in pretty good place, after finishing it starting arc, but obviously some loose treads were left. So if you had a bit more time (lets say to round 300) what would you do with the comic?

My ideas

1 Mega Drive Overdrive (obviously. IDW really should try to release it)

2 If I had Sonic Universe I would release the arc about FF (after all it's mostly done, only make small changes to make everything self-contained. Like tell Phage's origin)

We loosely know 95, 96 & 97 but for 98 I would have Tails & Rotor (& Big?) facing some kind of War in Water. Like Abyss and Shellbreaker (& Akluth?) story, maybe tell us more about that strange treasure Chaotix found or their mysterious teacher. Alternatively it could be story about fighting Babylon Rouges.

Then I would release 2 stand-alone stories

SU 99: Knuckles & Rouge. Snively tricked Knuckles that Rouge called for him, so he can capture both of them and steal ME. Together they outsmart him and cancel Snively's plans hinted back in Total Eclipse.

SU 100: Shadow vs Eclipse, if possible double-length. I think most fitting way for Shadow to win would be if Wisps showed up, since they were attacked by Black Arms in the past. It would make for fun duel, plus Shadow would win with help of other 'inferior specie' which is a good counterpart to Eclipse's racism. At the end of the story Shadow wonder if GUN could make weapons using Wisps as ammo.
If I had a double length I would set story at Lost Hex, Shadow and Eclipse would face Zeti (or maybe only Zavok) and were force to team-up as last sad show how they are similar, but different and ultimately will have to fight each other (plus Wisps are here).

3 Main book is most important though. I would scrap all we know about unrelased issues past 291. Honey's show, Mighty & Ray, no time. Instead

StH 292 Would be fight against Maw. Let's explain his strange power and ideology, maybe talk about roboticizer. If there is space I might add back-up about Babylon Rouges, if I didn't use them in Sonic Universe 98.

StH 293-296 would be time traveling arc with Silver and Gold (but probably no FF). Tell Gold's origin, explain Ixis, Chaos Titans and all that stuff Flynn was hinting before. If Flynn isn't allowed to explain, just make a last few hints to give us basic idea. Villain could be Captain Metal, Nega or somebody new. Also that would somehow end treat of Genesis Portals. Story might end with Eggman learning about some great power for...

Sth 297-300 Big Epic Finale: Either
- follow-up to previous arc, with Eggman harnessing power of Ixis/GenesisPortals/something like that
- quick Lost World adaptation.
- my favorite suggestion: vising Nexus that Sticks mentioned at the end of World Unite, with different Sonic meeting there (what? Into the Spider-Verse was amazing)

And that would probably cover all important things. Cassia&Clove are still slaves to Eggman but as Bruce Banner would point out, not all stories have uplifting closure. Maaaaaaaaaaybe I would show Eggman getting captured with Breezie taking his intelligent badniks to her casino (especially Metal) for a vague closure, that still leaves room for possible sequels. Or maybe not.

And most important thing: I would give cameo to Bow and his Woodland Kingsmen. I'm sick of his "Schrodinger's Cat" state of existence.

I find it hard to imagine most of the lingering plot threads not taking a considerable amount of time to transpire, so it’s difficult to say.

I will say one thing: issue 300 could end with a lead-in to that inevitable Lost World adaptation, with the final page being of Sonic jumping into action and heading off into further adventure, with a message at the bottom telling the reader to continue the story in the Lost World game (think how Mega Man #53 ended).

With Sally being Happy she got a supportive dad instead of a dad that often belitted here, Tails crying Happily that Titan Tails isn't a real, Knuckles just satisfied that he doesn't have a convulted family background and Sonic just happy he really didn't fool arround with girls and treated his best friend like garbage

I don’t know about how the arcs would have been going into the issue 300 mark Ian had planned, but I would make the ending with a possible 12 issue arc with Eggman achieving his goal and setting up for the Forces story.

Would be a good tie in for the IDW comics setting, continuity differences aside.

But what about the pre-reboot characters (some of whom I really, really like)? Don't they deserve a happy ending too?

A bloodbath of all those past characters leading up to the creation of the IDW and Movie universes (or for more shock value, leave only the games behind). 

 

Realistically, mandates would prevent Archie from being finished at all, given the “three worlds” thing and whatnot.

When it comes to the time before the soft-reboot, I'd probably end it with something like Darkest Storm, where named characters and concepts died and got wrapped up but were still open ended enough for fan-fiction/fan-comics to have at it for continuation.

I'd probably do something petty like kill off Julie-Su in an embarrassing way. I wouldn't feel bad about it though.

Post-Reboot didn't have enough time to develop for me to lament much about its passing despite enjoying it more BUT the one crying shame about it was losing all of the members of Eggman's Dozen. Those guys needed a second chance.

Honestly, I bare minimum just want the stuff Archie was planning to publish/had solicited. Specifically, if I had to pick anything, I'd just put out the Freedom Fighter arc that we should've gotten for Sonic Universe and #292 which was the lead-in for that and would show Sonic and the FF parting ways for a time. It could be rewritten a bit to serve as a nice little send-off, promising there's always adventure to be had like how any Sonic story ends.  I don't think I'd really need anything more conclusive if I could just have the stuff I actually wanted and not the two filler arcs that were released before Sega pulled the plug.

^ Gotta second that. Biggest shame in my opinion is all of those released solicits and the fact there was the possibility of seeing the FF kick some butt that we never got to see in the intended way so to speak, and the fact they kind of laid promises by showing those solicits, promises they couldn't hold at the end. Getting those stories done would've made me happy enough not to whine about all of this especially when I grow old and demented.

After that, if there would be chances for that, maybe some kind of open-world kind of closure, it could prolly be neat to make it so that it could tie in into some game or something, but I think there's other ways to work it in the way the comics could feel more like their own thing rather than what they were in fact, ads. It would be nice to have some kind of illusion about comics being relevant on their own considering they had pretty impressive characters and interesting concepts in the book as far as I'm concerned.

Though I wouldn't mind some kind of ultimate showdown either.

Either way, something cool, like Eggman trying some kind of semi last resort stunt since he got fed up on losing or whatever. A nice rise of excitement before a peaceful ending.

And now I feel sad again, all the lost opportunities and stuff, I was enjoying it a lot, but then again, I know I have a weird taste on things I consume for entertainment, so whatever.

It's a crying shame I couldn't get that "Antoine kicking ass" issue I was looking for. A lot. The moment I saw the solicits I went trough the roof from the sheer excitement. Now I've lost my faith when it comes to the US comics.

It seems like I'd need to make my own stuff now, with black jack and that other thing...
