Random glitches you’ve had in a Sonic game

A Peep

Recommended Posts

Talk about all your glitches. Only exception is keep a minimum of ‘06 glitches in your list because I don’t want this to become an 06 thread.

So, in Sonic Unleashed and Generations, sometimes I accidentally skip loading parts in the game and just see no floor. This happened in Skyscraper City (day), Green Hill (modern) & Seaside Hill (classic)

In Sonic Heroes, during the final part of Ocean Palace, when Sonic runs off a ramp, the rock hit Sonic and he fell. That was an automatic ramp. You’ll understand more if you saw Caddicarus’ video on Sonic Heroes. As well as that, in Casino Park, Big got stuck in a pinball machine. In Rail Canyon, during a scripted corkscrew rail section, I somehow went backwards.

During Sonic Mania, I clipped through a wall in Flying Battery and got stuck.

In Sonic Colours, somehow, I couldn’t jump during a chaser section in Aquarium Park.

Finally, in Sonic ‘06, during Silver’s Kingdom Valley, I fell through the floor. (this is the tamest glitch in the game)

Once my brother locked Sonic 2 onto Sonic and Knuckles, but clearly didn't make a strong enough connection. The result was Emerald Hill as Knuckles, but there was no music, and the only sound effect was the Metropolis Zone record scratch, which would inconsistantly play when Knuckles bopped a Badnik. At the end of the act, the game froze.

In Sonic 3 (standalone) , I somehow managed to get the music stuck on the invinsibility theme during a run of Carnival Night (I'd used a regular monitor pickup). I had to intentionally start to drown Sonic and then leave the water in order to and make the annoying jingle shut up! I've also found that if you do the same trick during Hydrocity's Act 1 boss, the music will change to Sonic & Knuckles' miniboss theme.

In my latest playthrough of Sonic Adventure DX, I kept repeatedly pulling off the Tails in Emerald Coast glitch unintentionally.

How the heck do you manage that unintentionally? You have to fly through a precise spot in the hotels collision, land on one small tile out of bounds that's able to be stood on, and then fly to emerald coast.

In Sonic Chronicles, after I defeated the Marauder at the bridge in Green Hill Zone to get to Metropolis so I can meet up with Tails, I guide Sonic to the bridge. Then the animation of Sonic running plays and the screens went black and Metropolis doesn't load which forces me to reset the game.

To be honest, I think it's a problem/feature of the Dreamcast mod. It seems to make the whole thing easier to pull off, so it just sort of happens if you're flying recklessly in the pool area.

In Sonic 1 game gear, Labyrinth Zone, I was playing as usual and then the screen suddenly glitched. Gave me quite a scare.

Haven't touched the game since then haha

I got another one. In Sonic Advance 3, I permanently lost a Chao in cyber track and had to delete my progress to 100% the game

In Sonic Adventure (DC version) I vividly remember gliding as Knuckles around the city hall area of Station Square and randomly clipping past a wall and falling to my death into the abyss.

I can't remember if it was Gens or Unleashed, I think Unleashed, but there was one point that I got so fast as Sonic during (I believe) a hot dog mission that I literally outran the renderer and glitched myself into an unrendered area of the map. I think it fixed itself as I ran closer back towards the main portion of the stage, but during that, it was weird to see the game in such a state. It was just one random chunk of the level unrendered, and you could see the rest of the level rendered properly in the distance.

Edit: Level was Rooftop Run btw

I remember as a kid I was playing though Sonic 3's Launch Base Zone and some how got pushed under the stage and got stuck in a wall. I struggled for awhile to try and free myself but it was no use. I eventually gave up and waited for the timer to run out to kill me and free me from that prison.

I remember Shadow the Hedgehog having lots of glitches back when I played but one still stands out to me today. I don't recall which level it happened in but it was at the very end of that stage. I come running though a door and see the goal ring in front of me but before I could get to it Shadow just falls though the floor to his death.

I also recall glitches in Sonic Heroes where the characters would fall through the rails to their deaths.

Playing Sonic 1 in an emulator just now, I saw a Caterkiller in Scrap Brain Zone that only consisted of a head, no body. It didn't even have an invisible body, as I walked where it would've been and wasn't hurt.

Playing Sonic 2 on original hardware as Sonic with Tails following, there was a brief time in Metropolis Zone where Tails was stuck in his idle animation and was just sliding around following me instead of walking, which was quite amusing to watch. A bit later, he went back to the standing pose, but he was still sliding around, not walking. It went away a bit after that. I think I've experienced this before, probably in Sonic Mega Collection Plus.

Yep, that one has happened to me a lot too.

In other Tails-related glitches (or bugs), in Advance 1, if you play as Sonic with Tails, when you finish X Zone in the bad ending, Tails just stands there in the results screen, then he’ll go into his idle animation. Cracked me up the first time I saw it.

When I was really young I would somehow clip into the girder walls of Chemical Plant so often and easily (usually on the moving block sections) that I would assume they were just some of those secret walk through areas. For some reason every time later in life I was never able to replicate going into any walls ever again no matter how hard i tried and it makes me wonder if I was even remembering correctly.

Oddest glitch I've ever had was in Sonic 3&K with Knuckles in Launch Base Zone. I jumped on a badnik like normal, but instead of a animal popping out a black rectangle about the size of Knuckles came out and hopped away. I've never had that happen again and despite how well documented Sonic 3 is I've never seen this glitch mentioned online before.

Another glitch that always stuck with me was in Sonic Adventure. I found Eggman and Knuckles lying on the ground near the Master Emerald like what normally happens in the Super Sonic story...only I was playing the regular Sonic story so they shouldn't of been there. Walking over to them wouldn't trigger the cutscene. I latter learned this happened because the Super Sonic story is built on the regular Sonic story. I must have started the Super Sonic story but never went to Angel Island to trigger the cutscene, then quit the Super Sonic story and started the regular Sonic story. It almost sounds like the beginning of a creepypasta now that I think about it. 😅

“Then, when Sonic usually says “let’s get em” he turned into Super Sonic from the fleetway comics and said, “why do you not want to play with me, mortal scrotum”, and grabbed his blood-covered hand out of the TV...”

Dumb creepypastas aside, during Sonic Unleashed, occasionally when I play Dragon Road day, I jump onto a spring but the game registers it a one of those Eggman springs that usually send you into spikes, so I hit the regular spring (that was registered as an Eggman spring) and fell off the 2D plain. Has this happened to anyone else?

I forgot about this one that happened to me in Mania once:

I have no idea what triggered it, but when I was going through Press Garden the regular music track suddenly got replaced by the “act clear” music which played after whatever jingle I’d just triggered.

It’s a bit hard to describe what I mean. Basically, after I came out of the invincibility jingle (or it might have been a 1-up jingle) the act clear music kicked in instead of the Press Garden music, followed by silence (since the track doesn’t loop). Soon after I got a 1-up, when the jingle ended, the act clear music played again, and so on.

I can’t remember how I managed to get out of it.

Was playing Sonic 3 (Probably Sonic 3 Complete) on an emulator. I was in Hydrocity Zone Act 1 and at the part with 2 loops on each other. I went past the first loop and hit the spring but I fell into the wall. Then I flung around the screen and died. I tried doing it again but it didn't work.

one of the glitches I came across was in Sonic adventure 2, I tried doing a super bounce by near the area with the truck, I thought I'd do it, but I kept going until I actually hit the truck causing the Xbox360 to freeze. I made a video about it in my YouTube channel....so yeah, there you go.

I once accidentally pulled off a frame-perfect glitch in Sonic 2 were I hit the first boss in Death Egg Zone at just the right (or wrong) time and instead of explosions, there were small flames a bove were the bot used to stand, trapping me in the room.

Press F to pay respects
