I've got the same problem. It's hugely annoying. I said I wanted a paler and simpler skin, but this is just downright lazy.

EDIT: This and my below post are prime examples of why I dislike the rating systems

Downright lazy? That's being a bit cross, I think. The fact that the skin dissapearing was an error nonwithstanding, making a skin takes time and effort. If I wasn't in the process of contributing towards the skin, I wouldn't go about saying things like that, y'know.

Hahaha, sarcasm. I know full-well that it was an error of sorts.

You don't like it when it is too blue, you don't like it when it's plain white, you people sure are demanding a lot xD.

There's bound to be a few hiccups after a major change. It was sorted pretty quick though, as most glitches are, so keep your hair/fur/whatevers on, folks ^^

Your posts never got down/upvoted though o_O.

I think we should all just resolve to ignore the whole rating system, it will make the forum a happier place.

Yes, they did- both were downvoted. Somebody upvoted them afterwards though. (As in, after I made that comment). Personally I think it should just be scrapped entirely.

Not to be rude, but we've only been using IPB3 for a week - how about giving the functions more of a chance, hm? I have a few ideas of just what we could do with the reputation system to make it more appealing to the users and if you're really keen you'll notice the tests I was running last night on it's configuration.

If you guys had the tools we do then you'd notice that the reputation system isn't being abused as much as you claim it may be. The highest reputation we've seen (without my modification for testing purposes and a little fun) was just over 100, and was the result of two other members constantly upping the user's posts (even posts as far back as June).

Give it a chance, and wait to see what we have in the pipeline.

I didn't mention anything about it being abused. The fact is that it isn't used fairly. I made a joke and somebody thought I was being serious. Fair do's, mistakes happen. Then I was rated down for that. To constantly be rated on something when you're just trying to have fun and socialise is incredibley saddening. We're not all trying to write univeristy level posts here.

EDIT: It's not even an IPB3 thing- the same issue was also present on the last board.

Easy for some to say.

There's no reason that people should be able to give an anonymous opinion about you anyway- such can be really hurtful if it's negative. And there's no reason positive ones should be given either.

It's not really feedback about you- it's feedback about what you're saying

And c'mon man, you're honestly saying you don't like compliments? :(

I can honestly say that I don't like opinions when they're not warranted. And I was hoping that somebody would say it's feedback on what you're saying...

Bob posts his opinion about the new game, Sonic World Heroes Adventure 3 Unleashed.

Anna doesn't agree with Bob.

Anna votes his post down.

Fred comes into the topic.

Fred uses that filter so that poorly rated posts aren't shown.

Bobs post gets hidden.

Bob feels ignored.

Bob declares revenge on the internets for treating him so badly and abusing his rights.

Bob makes an ass of himself.

The system isn't a nice one (IMO), but that doesn't matter because my opinion is irrelavent. I don't see it working out like it's intended to, and it's going to hurt feelings in the same way that being rated on something everyday always does.

There's also an ignore list option on the forum anyway, and there has been since way back in IPB1 or something, are you suggesting we remove that as well? It's also not like getting downvoted once is going to hide your post from everyone- unless of course that person has set their ignorer to ignore fucking everything, which makes them a punk anyway.

Post well and you won't have a problem, unwarranted neg reps will probably be plus repped by someone else, so don't worry bout it.:D

I have a kinda different issue with the rep system actually. The buttons are so close together I've accidentally downvoted a post I meant to upvote a couple of time already. Is there anyway to add just a little space between them or something?

Pardon me for being so sharp, but please just shut up about the damn rep system. It's there, we may keep it. We may remove it. Whatever decision that is, it'll be mine and the SSMB Mods and Admins, not yours. Stop being butthurt that some random faceless twat put a little unhappy/smiley face next to your post and get on with your bloody life.

I can understand what you're getting at Blue Blood but Jesus, stop whining on and on about it. It's not that big of a deal, and if you put that much stock into what other people think about you (people that you've never even really met) then you shouldn't be using the Internet in the first instance.

Already did. I expressed my opinion, and have left it at that now. Heck, I was specifically trying not to sound like I was whining and more explaining how I feel. It's pointless to ramble on and on when you're going nowhere.

most people will probably remain on a neutral status as in most cases no-one cares what others think. Others like myself expect negative rep because that's what we do, try and calm you down, spoil your fantasies and bring you, preferably in a horrifying plane on fire like style, crashing to the ground.

As Dread has said if the rep system is that important to you, consider viewing your own status first. What others think of you should only be a concern if that is your job or you are trying to represent a larger nstion or such.
