I just noticed that in the gameplay footage, Sonic's legs move twice as fast as they do in the intro and outro footage.

Of course, everybody is focusing on the non-gameplay footage.

I'm right there with you, I'm literally on the edge of my seat with the jitters waiting for new info!

Think about all the possibilities: now that we have 2 generations of Sonic to grab from, this could be totally awesome!

What if along with small animals getting broken out of badniks, we get chao? I actually wouldn't mind a returned Chao Garden... it could be like "My Dream" where others can check it out online!

And what if we had zones re-visited, even! We aren't quite sure where it's at on the timeline, are we? If that's the case, Sonic could re-visit devestated zones, like an underwater Casino Nights as mentioned!

I'm looking forward to Sonic 4. I just have to get an XBox 360. Sonic 4 looks like a beefed up version of Sonic 3. This should be a super fun game. This is going to be the kind of Sonic game that will take me back to my childhood. I'm going to have some fun when I play it.

Wouldn't it be more apt then to put the blame on the fandom than to put it on Sega?

The fandom doesn't make me play boring slow characters or kill me with "physics" in Sonic 06.

If this game was named pretty ANYTHING else, the response would probably be more positive, like "Sonic HD" or whatever. But oh no, this is Sonic FOUR. It has a legacy of some of the greatest games of all time and the world's worst, most fickle gaming fan base expectations to live up to.

So...yeah. I'm just gonna hope its good.

I'd have to say that the response has been more positive because it's "Sonic 4." And that just means the nostalgia stick beatings are working. We haven't hit the "disappointment" phase yet.

I really do hope Eggman is the main boss with no monster taking his place. Be cool if he is nearly every boss like in the Mega Drive days, I really want to smack him with some spin attacks again, see his shocked face from the impacts before seeing everything crumble apart around him and watch him make a quick exit in his pod

Well I will say Dimps gets progressively better with each game, from Sonic Pocket Adventure to Sonic Rush Adventure. Which is why I'm confident a Sonic Rush 3 would be as good as the latter if not better.

Sonic Team on the other hand baffles science and somehow got progressively worse with each console release since Sonic Adventure 2.

By most people, Advance 1 > Advance 3 > Advance 2. Also, Rush is a step back, if Unleashed is one as well. In my opinion, Unleashed wii was mediocre too.

Sonic unleashed was not worse than 06. It sold better too.

Maybe this is just me, but if I were forced to stare those two clips in the face as future directions for the franchise (I imagine you meant to point towards the cut scene, specifically) I would take the badly-written yet lighthearted ice cream exchange over the gritted-teeth, guns-a-blazing Michael Bay nightmare intro in a heartbeat. You get my point, though, and I get yours.

Whatever the new "storyline" direction ends up being, here's hoping they learned from both of our examples.

You prefer Shadow's story over Unleashed? The stages too? I guess I can't agree there.

If they were blind, I kind of forgive it. But it said it was going to be HD since the very beginning. It was never going to be Mega Man 9.

Just a minor pick. It's 2.5D, not 3D.

But why couldn't they fucking just make it 2d? Is that TOO MUCH to ask for? If I wanted a 2.5D Sonic game I'd play freaking Sonic Rush.

They're also neglecting to mention Sonic spindashing before going through the corkscrew and how he starts to slow down marginally while going up the hill before the loop.

The fandom doesn't make me play boring slow characters or kill me with "physics" in Sonic 06.

No, but it does set unreasonable expectations and narrow the image of what Sonic should be more and more with each passing introduction to the series.

I won't mind the homming attack as long as its a really really really short range usage and that it won't give speed boost.

I'm also glad that I can get it on Wii since its the only consol I possess currently...

Green eye or not... I won't pause the game just to gaze into his eyes and go "daaaaaaaawwwwwwww" or "duuuuuuurrrrrrrrrr".

This model of Sonic combined with a Wheel o' feet... will it really look good? I don't know until I see it but I got a feeling that it won't look as good as I could expect it to be.

Relation wise between games... SA had 2 references to 2 games only:

Amy talking about Sonic CD times (being chased by metal sonic and adventuring)

Tails memories about Sonic 2 times (when he met him wich lead to the adventures of Sonic 2)

Knuckles didn't make any references to Sonic 3&K at all. Only in Sonic heroes and thats after SA & SA2.

That alone makes it clear that.... we won't know if this game will lead right after to SA or that there will be more game before Sonic decides to relax in Station Square and the beggining of SA story.

Aaaaaaanyway, I'm happy for this game and I hope it will bring butloads of nostalgia memories with similar badniks, environments and items of any sort~

And why not? The classics are unforgetfull because of gameplay and level design, something that's achievable either by using 2D or 2.5D. There's no difference. The only reason would be nostalgia factor, but at this point, that's not worth fighting gor. 2D doesn't define the series. 2D alone didn't make it special. There were thousands of shitty 2D games back in the day. Advance and Rush are acceptable at best and they're 2D. Being back to it's roots means gameplay, followed by funky design, not going back to 2D.

To me, being 2D or 2.5D isn't the issue here. I'm still waiting for the gameplay and level design confirmation. That's what's going to be the deal breaker to me.
