Sonic the Hedgehog Game Ideas

If I had a chance to redo Sonic Adventure, I'd have Sonic's hydrophobia in the background until late in the game.

I'd then give him a massive panic attack when Perfect Chaos almost drowns him. His overconfidence was just a front up until this point. It gives Tails,  Knuckles and Amy a chance to help him overcome his fear.

The final scene would be Sonic in the hotel pool, learning to swim.

If I were to give sonic  2 a password system, it will probably look like this:

Sonic 2:

Chemical Plant-RTG

Aquatic Ruin-JOM

Casino Night-RIG

Hill Top-LOT

Mystic Cave-EZW

Oil Ocean-QZX

Metropolis-IIJ

Sky Chase-IOI

Wing Fortress-DEA

No password for death egg.

The Options Screen music would play and you would pick 3 letters in the corresponding boxes in the slot.

If you put in the right combination it takes you to the stage that has the code.

The special stage ring wound effect plays if you pick the right entry in the lines.

The Password option can be found in the title screen under "Options".

Before you get your hopes up, no, this is not in a sonic 2 hack. Just and idea for me.

Insanity Beach Zone: After catching his breath after the last act, Tails approaches a very nonsensical beach.

Does Tails meet Crash Bandicoot though?

i have several ideas, for now, here's one for a classic game, Sonic: Mega Drive, a reimagining of Sonic X-Treme and Tyson Hesses' Sonic Mega Drive plotline from the Archie comics. using a 2.5D style inspired by games like Klonoa and Kirby 64

Spoiler

the game would be 2.5D, akin to Sonic Generations' Classic Sonic stages, the gimmick would be switching between background and foreground with stage gimmicks, badniks and bosses using that to their advantage, there would be 5 playable characters, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and a new character, Skip the Rabbit, influenced by the original concept for Sonic, being able to use his ears ala Ristar, the graphics style would be Cell-Shaded using Classic designs.

the plot is that upon being defeated by Sonic in Mania Plus, Robotnik gets sent to "the modern timeline" (or in an ideal world, the future) going missing, until suddenly, Sonic & Tails notice suspicious activity coming from a place called "Miracle Island" at the east of the "Mobius archipielago" it turns out the Hard Boiled Heavies want to take over the world on their own using the magical "Ancient Gears" 7 sealed parts of an ancient weapon known as the "MegaDrive" and thus joining in with Knuckles, Amy and Miracle Island resident, Skip, they go on a quest to defeat the Heavies, but the Heavies aren't the only ones that want the Gears, as Fang the Sniper/Nack the Jerboa also wants them to gain a fortune of them.

if you get all the ancient gears, it turns out the Weapon was actually home to the spirit ancient godess named "Athenea" with the appearence of a human girl who sacrificed herself to seal the weapon, thus the weapon goes rouge and merges with the Heavy King and Sonic must fight it as "Turbo Sonic"... only if you get the seven gears though

the Zone structure is the same as Sonic 3 & Knuckles, 2 acts with a Miniboss and a Boss, the game would be 13 Zones total + an Final Boss Zone ala Doomsday and an optional Tutorial Zone, upping the total to 15 Zones, most of the bosses would be Animal themed Mechs, you fight Fang as a miniboss 5 times during the adventure, and you also the members of the Hard Boiled Heavies as Bosses, in the same order as Mania too.

The Power-Ups are mainly the same from Mania, with the addition of the Spring Shoes and Rocket Shoes from Sonic Chaos and Triple Trouble, would also have some ideas from the Advance games like being able to perform tricks, that give you extra points, Sonic can perform the Spindash and Peelout, working like in CD, with the Spindash being slower but giving you extra protection, while the Peelout is faster, Amy would play like she did in Advance, swinging her hammer, although this time she is unable to do the Peelout, now requiring of a hammer spinning move that works like the rolling move from the Donkey Kong Country games, air-jumping and everything, you unlock playbale characters as you advance trought the game, starting with only Sonic & Tails, Cutscenes would mostly be presented like in Sonic 3&K, although there's some that are fully animated with voice acting ala Megaman 8.

Finally after getting the good ending, you'd unlock the Encore Mode wich works exactly like in Mania Plus. including a small follow-up story involving Eggman comming back from the "Modern Timeline" and finding the Ancient Gears himself

If we're just spitballing.....

- Eggman Empire RTS game. I've wanted this for a long time.

- Team Dark: Agents of GUN. They made a thing of Team Dark working for GUN at one point, but outside of '06 and some minor references elsewhere....we never see what they actually do when not dealing with Eggman. I wanna see it.

- Something based on the Team Chaotix Detective Agency. Again, they keep referencing it, but outside of Heroes we've never really seen it in the games.

Here's an idea for a "modern 2D game" I just came up with: Sonic Duos

As the name infers, the game would have a focus on two-person teams much like the Chaos games, Chaotix, and Advance 3. But for this partner-centric game I'm incorporating the additional movesets from my previous game idea, with each character's moveset changing depending on if they're the "main" or the "partner". For example, Amy as the "main" would have her moveset centered around using her hammer for acrobatics and smashing enemies and obstacles, while Cream as the "partner" has her moveset centered around supporting the main via having Cheese collect rings and defend the main (and, if I could get away with it, have Cream use "light magic" to heal, shield, and empower the main). But switch them around, and Cream's moveset becomes focused around platforming and exploring (such as having a "high jump" ability, being a rabbit and all) with Cheese as her main offensive option while Amy follows after and has supportive abilities in the form of using her tarot cards to buff the main, curse enemies, and all that good magic stuff lol As well as using her hammer to whip up a tornado and give the main a "boost", vertically or horizontally.

I originally envisioned this as a 2D game taking place in the Modern setting. But then I suddenly thought about this concept being capable in an Adventure-style 3D game. After all, we already got Chaos 1 & 2, Chaotix, and Advance 3 for this sort of gameplay in 2D, but the closest we got for 3D is Heroes. But of course, keeping in mind that 3D Sonic is still being figured out, a 3D version of this idea would have to limit the playable cast to Sonic and his closest equivalents (which I consider to be Shadow, Amy, and Blaze) with the partners functioning in a manner akin to Heroes, Shadow, and Sonic 4 Episode 2: they follow you around and help with attacking like in Heroes and Shadow, a second player can join in and control them like in Shadow, or if playing solo then the partner can function as a power-up on demand like Tails in S4E2. There would obviously be more to that but I'm mostly just spitballing 😅

Suddenly I feel quite hungry. I could sure go for a packet of Sonic Duos right now, but I can't decide between Crispy Chaos' or Knobbly Knuckles' flavour.

In seriousness though, I like the potential of the idea. However I would keep the action purely to one style of gameplay (enhanced by the teammate). Sonic Heroes got awful tedious when you had to slow down for combat in the midst of the action (and the less said about Sonic Boom's 4-team approach the better).

You could say that Sonic Forces had a somewhat non-committal idea to a duo approach when the Avatar and Sonic Teamed up on certain levels. However any decent abilities for the avatar (well, the hook-shot) were automated - then Sonic's moveset from Sonic Colour's was diluted between the two of them, with Sonic using Boost the Avatar utilising the remaining wisp powers.

Metal sonic solo game. Its like a combo of a sonic and metal gear game. First person, M.s can use things, such as a electric stun gun, to get animals without sonic or friends noticing. if sonic notices you, you lose. Here are the animals in the game

Pig: basic enemy. pick him up and take him to the animal capsule.

bird: flies in the air. metal must have to use his flight to get the bird.

snake: sleeping. must be picked up quietly and quickly, or else it will scream loudly. sonic will hear it.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to convey lol My intent of the 3D approach was always the Sonic/Shadow gameplay of SA2 but with a partner character backing them up in miscellaneous ways, not just combat. And "combat" would follow the 'Spyro method', in that all non-boss enemies can be defeated in one hit but there are variants that could resist a homing/rolling attack unless, say, stunned by a partner-specific ability.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that 😆 Demonstrates how "impactful" that was. But I guess that does form an effective basis for a version of this idea that operates with the Boost gameplay (albeit requiring some improvement).

I personally like classic Sonic so a game that's like Mania but with all new zones would be nice. As for story, maybe Eggman and a rival villain are trying to get the emeralds or another powerful artefact. Sonic and co get's caught in the crossfire and have to take down both of them. But the rival villain has a team of heroes that are after him too. They could be playable or allies. But they might see Team Sonic as enemies and try to take them down by setting traps and acting as mini-bosses.

For zones, maybe a beach zone, a steampunk zone, a a construction site zone and a space zone taking inspiration from the Egg Gate level from Forces. And there would be more of course. If anyone wants to make a (fan)game using my ideas, then you have permission too.
