Any good Sonic Youtube channels?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone.

I've been a Sonic fan since I was a kid and I'm getting back into the series as an adult now I have more free time to indulge in what I enjoy. I was wondering if there was any good youtube channels that looks at Sonic in a lore/worldbuilding sense, covering both the video games and comic books, or even looking at the the history and mechanical and design aspects of the games, I like to have long lore videos in the bg while I'm working or trying to sleep as well. I already know Billiam's stuff as I've been following him for a while. Feel free to rec your own channel as well if you're a content creator, the more the better. 👍

While not technically a Sonic Youtube channel I recommend checking out the Great Clement's Let's Plays. He did every Sonic game for about 9 years straight though some are more reviews than lets plays. https://www.youtube.com/user/ClementJ642

I'd also recommend Robotnik Holms comic reviews. He's still just getting started so they can be a little awkward but his stuff is still really enjoyable. https://www.youtube.com/user/ConnallRobotnik8

TheKazeblade and Em Bani are, without a doubt, my go-to recommendations for people if they ever want good analytical Sonic-focused channels. Lots of really great constructive insights from the videos of these dudes.

Also, not really a Sonic channel at all, but the Geek Critique's Sonic videos are fantastic as well! He got done doing some retrospectives for the Adventure era games not too long ago and they're straight up some of the best long-form video game reviews/video essays/retrospectives/whatever-you-want-to-call-them on the entire site IMO.

Besides these guys, I don't really follow a whole lot of other Sonic Youtubers. I guess RadicalSoda still makes Sonic videos? He's pretty funny sometimes I suppose. Those are all my recommendations for ya. Have fun with 'em.

There's plenty of good Sonic-focused content on YouTube. The aforementioned channels TheKazeblade and Em. Bani. both have great content, though uploads are not as frequent these days. Other good channels that aren't solely focused on Sonic, but have great Sonic content, include ShayMay's Sonic Spitball series, the Game Apologist and GameHut, which is run by someone who worked on older Sonic games like Sonic R and 3D Blast; and we all know and love SomeCallMeJohnny. Special shout out to our own @Badnik Mechanic's fantastic channel that covers more obscure corners of Sonic history!

If you're into more casual things like streaming, memes or reaction vids, you have Sam Procrastinates (formerly Sam's Procrastination Station), Mr. Pasquale and Premydaremy. It's also worth mentioning that Tails Channel does a lot of news coverage like we do.

Hope that helps to get you started!

BC Media is a pretty good "sonic" channel, he made an entire video on the sonic team cycle, and it blew my mind. he also made a teaser on his next video: The Creators Epilogue. I would also like to mention JebTube and Ruby Of Blue, they made pretty enjoyable videos on the adventure games, Jeb also made a video about heroes. Lighning2153 made a awesome pitch on making an actual sonic adventure 3, which I highly recommend watching!

Lots of great suggestions so far.

If you want videos detailing the production of the games, then I highly recommend Making of Sonic videos by strafefox. Masterfully edited and fantastic production values.

If you want videos that concentrate more on the story side of Sonic, I recommend Deepest Lore's look at the early Sonic games and I especially recommend Ruby of Blue's look at the story of the Sonic Adventure 2. Both look at story details that are often missed or overlooked, even by hardcore Sonic fans.

MegaGwolf, he does let's play on Sonic games, hacks and fan games. You can also look at his Pixelated Memories channel where you can find his reviews of Sonic games.

Piggy-backing on the above post mentioning the History of Sonic Runners video, I'd recommend PatMac's channel as a whole. While it's not really solely a Sonic channel (more an animation and video game fan channel with extra focus on Sonic and Mario in particular), he puts a lot of work into each and every video he produces, creating some of the most interesting/entertaining content I've seen on YT. From merch to lost media, I look forward to everything he puts out, as it's pretty much guaranteed to be worth a watch. Another thing I love about his stuff is the lack of negativity or ranting. After being put off of several Sonic channels in the past because of stuff of that nature, it's really refreshing.

Badnik Mechanic are Redhotsonic are my two favorite Sonic related channels. Badnik Mechanic dives into trivia based around Sonic in great detail, while Redhotsonic mainly reviews and plays various games and fan made works.
