Why does Dr. Eggman/Robotnik build Casinos and Amusement Parks?

I always wondered why everyone's favorite egg shaped scientist always like building areas such as the Casino Night Zone or the Carnival Night Zones? I heard it was because Eggman was childish but I wonder if it has something to do with his gambling habit or he needs some type of funding for his projects? Why the doctor build all those areas? And what does he get out of it?

I always thought Eggman builds levels to both distract Sonic with a bunch of obstacles and to give himself a bit of entertainment.

In a way, Eggman must really admire Sonic. Well, I think that’s kind of obvious seeing the attempted clones aboard the Egg Carrier.

I always thought he has cameras watching Sonic go through the levels. He’s just sitting up there waiting for Sonic to fall, and aweing in disbelief when he doesn’t.

I honestly doubt it. If he's building all this, dude has stupid money. If anything, it's probably also a wealth flaunt.

This is a guy who likes to be glamorous. It's all about the ego.

I don't believe Eggman built all the casinos and amusement parks in the series. We know he's built some: Eggmanland, Circus Park, and Casino Forest come to mind. Carnival Night Zone is never stated to be his, but probably belongs to him too, since Angel Island isn't exactly highly populated.

But I always figured the original Casino Night Zone was just a city that Eggman invaded, rather than a place he built from scratch. Sonic 2's story states that Eggman has taken over the factories and cities, occupying them and using their resources to finish his Death Egg. And considering Casino Night Zone is plastered in decor of Sonic and Tails - with Eggman's image only being the "lose" condition on the slot machines - I feel like it's more likely that this particular casino isn't actually Eggman's handiwork.

Partially for himself, partially to get money from guests.  I basically think of Sonic as a hedonism-themed hero while Eggman is a hedonism-themed villain.  Sonic loves to be happy but not at the expense of others, while Eggman loves to be happy but is okay with stepping over others to get it, and also okay with exploiting their desire to be happy to help fund his schemes.

He likes theatrics and parties and stuff so long as they make him the center of attention. I remember a throwaway line from Shadow the Hedgehog about him moving stolen rings through it too so it might double as a front to fund his big projects. A fraud scheme with an air of legitimacy so he can keep from having any financial issues.

Honestly,Eggman always has a bigger plan behind the one that he already built so even though it's the end of the game it's isn't the end of the story. So I think he does it because he thinks the element of surprise can throw sonic off but because sonic has tails I don't see that happening.

What is probably the simplest answer is that it's a combination of extorting the masses for funding and because he's just weird.

The dude puts his face all over everything he owns and his endgame is to build an amusement park called Eggmanland. I try not to think too hard about it.

Botnik is like Commodus, ans other emperors of Rome, gotta keep the masses placated with amusement, so build casinos and parks. ;)

Plus the Casinos bring in Mobiums or Rings to fund his Eggman Empire.
