Today, famous (and occasionally infamous) Japanese gaming outlet Famitsu revealed their game awards for 2022, and while Sonic Frontiers was only nominated for a single category, it won “Best Action-Adventure Game” from among God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West.

For those curious, the other two nominees were God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West. Sonic outsold God of War in Japan by a pretty decent margin, but Horizon has it beat, so I'm surprised it still won despite that.

I imagine it's a good boost to morale for the dev team, but game awards outside of that are seldom ever more than just "neato".

It's actually a pretty good thing.  For years, Sonic was never that popular in Japan and the fact that it actually won an award in Japan is really telling how much of an impact that Sonic Frontiers had on Japan.
