Sonic the Comic Sonic the Comic's Richard Elson, Nigel Kitching and More Attending Bristol Comics Con

The UK's flagship SEGA magazine, Sonic the Comic, might be dead and buried now, but the burning passion for the series lives on amongst fans across the country. And an upcoming comics festival will allow you to meet a large number of the STC creators in person.

Comics 2002 is an event taking place at The Empire and Commonwealth Museum in Bristol on the 1st and 2nd of June, and looks to be a huge expo with a real who's who of comics turning up to meet and greet with fans. Among these are several writers, artists and contributors to Egmont Fleetway's Sonic the Comic! The full list of STC peeps can be found below.

 

• Andy Diggle: Editor
• Anthony Williams: Artist (including on Issue #1)
• Audrey Wong: Assistant Editor
• Carl Flint: Artist
• Dave Windett: Worked on the first Tails comic strip
• Jim Alexander: Writer of the Sonic and Tekno strips on issues #151-152
• John M Burns: Colourist for pretty much the whole book
• Jon Haward: Artist on Shinobi and Eternal Champions strips
• Kev Hopgood: Colourist during 1998
• Lew Stringer: Writer on Sonic, Tails, Amy strips
• Mike Hadley: Artist on a range of strips including Sonic and Tails
• Nick Abadzis: Contributor
• Nigel Kitching: Writer on Sonic, Knuckles, Decap Attack and many more
• Richard Elson: The MVP. Artist on Sonic, Knuckles strips
• Richard Rayner: Co-writer on Decap Attack
• Steve MacManus: Managing Editor from beginning to end
• Woodrow Phoenix: Wrote and lettered the first Ecco series and contributed to a number of Sonic strips

Some of the above STC talent will also be featuring in signings during the convention. Jon Haward will be signing at 1pm on the Sunday, Kev Hopgood will be signing at 11:30am on the same day. Richard Elson is apparently signing at 2:30pm on the Saturday.

If you're into comics beyond Sonic, as well, then you are in for a treat as Comics 2002 also features a huge number of other editors, writers and artists from the broader comics industry - including the head of Marvel in the US too!
