subsequently spent a very long time trying to unlock Shadow in Sonic Spinball.

Same XD. I spent about 3 weeks trying to unlock him a few years ago.

I had the whole "Chao" = "Kay-o" thing. Didn't really help that they introduced them in the same game as Chaos, so obviously some people are going to try and pronounce it the same because it's the same bar one letter.

Damn you SEGA for that evil, evil trick.
