I think people are confusing Sega maintaining a consistent design for characters with Sega "retconning".

Sonic and Eggman looked like what they looked like in Sonic 1-3&K both in the magical fantasy world of Sonic and in the real world. Sonic and Eggman also look like what they look like in Sonic 4 both in the magical fantasy world of Sonic and in the real world, as well as in all the post Sonic 3 games.

Why did Sonic and Eggman change in their character design? Well, super fans can make up all the reasons they want (chaos energy accelerated Sonic's growth and turned his eyes green, Eggman put on his formal wear etc.) But at the end of the the day, Sonic is just a video game series and Sega is a company that wishes to maintain their current character designs so as to not juggle classic and modern designs.

edit: and Sonic 4 DOES take place immediately after Sonic & Knuckles and before Sonic Adventure. lol, I have no idea why people are even discussing that. Must be the same crowd that sticks Unleashed before Adventure which is just plain kooky.

Sonic's design evolved over the years. It's only natural that they'll keep him that way.

Take a web-comic (or even a normal paper comic) for example - the artist's style evolves and changes over the years. A while later, he decides to do a 'prequel' story, or a story about an earlier time in the characters' history. He doesn't revert to his old style for it; instead he simply draws in his current evolved style as he renders the past.

Pretty much. Anything they show from this point on will likely be old news. The leak kinda killed my hype too, what with the wonky looking physics and the mine cart. I hope they manage to tighten up the physics by the time the game releases. I wish they would also make it so you can't homing attack during boss fights. I don't really like how the homing attack looked during normal levels but I think it might break boss fights.

This isn't so much official website related as it is official marketplace related.

I noticed that XBLA marketplace now lists Sonic 4 with a generic box art (the white background with the green rings) and the blue starburst background for the sub-page is now the plain default color.

I wonder if 360 owners will be seeing updated final cover art and menu art soon?

Not website related but it's something to do with the Sonic 4 page on Xbox live, they have started to put up images of the game on the images section of Sonic 4 page just 3 pictures at the moment but I bet more will be uploaded soon

I for better or worse am predicting to see many "Slicer is terrorist!" or "Eggman's Suicide Bomber!" when that bit of info gets wide spread. Just watch it happen.

So the glitch timer is still there next to Jaws. You know, I wonder if we got an LLZ Badnik because that was the next zone to be leaked. Even though CSZ is out for the world to see, some places had started to clamp down on leaks by the time videos of it surfaced. In any case, when will they put up that SHZ video?
