Me + Leaked Sawik 4 = Semi disappointed. D:

We just learned there's like 4 levels in the entire game which 5 acts each. Kind of short don't ya think. D: But hey.. More episodes though. :D

I like how the Splash Hill Zone starts out looking like Green Hill Zone then they mixed it up a bit. So where's my splashes Sega? lol

So my opinion? Sonic accelerates WAY too fast. Look at 55 seconds in, he just makes a sudden boost as he hits the ground.

He's always been able to do that in the classics. If you hit an incline with momentum you'll run down the slop faster.

Awesome. Aside from the awkward jumping physics and the bad collision detection (Which will probably be fixed, this is alpha after all) this game looks absolutely amazing. The only thing I really want now is the ability to have it lock on with episode 2.

I don't think that will be a problem. I think when Episode 2 comes out, you download it and it updates your current installed Sonic 4 Episode 1 to Sonic 4 Episode 2. And then you can choose the old levels or to continue with the new ones.

Really? Huh. Well, it just doesn't feel right here...

Nonetheless, I think it should be noted that this is the first zone. Different zones in the classic games often had a rotating focus between speed and platforming, and if Sonic 1 and 2 are any indication, the first zone is usually the most linear. For all we know, the other zones could be more like Marble or Labyrinth Zone.

Knuckles' Chaotix Isolated Island, anyone?

... So?

...seriously. Watch the vid when Sonic ROLLS over the first ridge, over the chompers. It's there. I promise :)

He actually runs up that first slope and jumps off the lip. You can hear the sound effect.

Basic opinion; looks fantastic, seems to play great. The Sonic acceleration thing isn't an issue, he's going no faster than a classic game there. My only issue is in the obvious glitches and physics borking that can be easily fixed. Specifically, the only thing I really need to mention is at the end of that clip where it seems like Sonic's glued to the curve. We don't need another 'Sonic 06' physics lesson please, it'd be best if Sonic Team/Dimps/my Gran would fix that and make it so Sonic followed the course of gravity. :P

Overall: Intrigued/Slightly impressed. Seeeegaaaaa.

It's just using the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCGiEIncR7w, it is extremely improbable that these will change by release. They've been considered "Complete" since 2005.

Whoever leaked this should have played around some more in the other zones :(

Bah idea. If we had to many informations now, many people will lose interest in the game.

By the way, interesting video. D'you noticed that the Splash Hill screen seems to have sunset background ? Can we expect a day stage, a sunset stage and a night stage ? It can be so awesome.

And it seems SEGA has begun his war against those who post the video and pics 'cause many friends already lost theirs account because of reporting this... SEGA is a child.

The large stage select screen hints at a sunset act for Splash Hill Zone. :)

The background is so beautiful. I'm sorry, I got something in my eye *sniff*

Honestly, looking at the video, I got more postives than negatives(but whoever playing it really sucked). Wheel of feet, beautiful graphics, cool music, that physics at the end was wonky but its an Alpha I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

The new Sonic game is looking...good. I haven't said that sentence in almost ten years.

Whoever leaked this should get fired. Seriously- I swear not a Sonic game goes by without leaks like this happening left, right and centre. If they are beta testers, can't they just like, bug test and get on with it?

It looks good though I guess, just wish there were one or two more proper zones. 8( The 3 Act structure is good though. With just four stages, it really does come down to price point for me now.

If those were Sonic Rush physics, he'd have no problem walking up the top slope. But he obviously can't, leading him to jump like an idiot.

By the way, Sonic 4 will actually use the same physics as my unreleased fangame. I sent Sonic Team (with a CC to Dimps) the source code and gave them all the rights for it. I can totally tell they're using my engine from the massive amount of final gameplay we've already seen!

The level design looks superb so far, if they fix what looks to be physics and collision-detection issues then this game is sure to be great, honestly. However if the gravity and physics stay as is it will most certainly not be up to par with the classics.

You fools can hate all you want.

It looks good to me.

My sentiments exactly.

The physics do seem a little wonky, I'll admit, but I'm gonna give it a pass for know since it's an alpha build and the 4 stages thing might be an alpha build thing too. You never know.

Either way, I'm liking how the game is shaping up. Rehash or not.

Also, Casino level! Woot!

Dammit, the parallax still looks horrible. Physics are wonky, level design I can't exactly judge, and the whole thing looking like a rehash doesn't help one bi-

... Oh, fuck me. THE BLOODY HOMING ATTACK looks NOTHING like it did in the Rushes. It's exactly what I DIDN'T WANT.

In short, rather disappointing.

Hey, Bat, Red, wait up!

I actually think that those 4 zones were only the 4 zones that the guy managed to get up to. Notice how in the screenshot of the level select he released, the game said he had no Chaos Emeralds and the special stage wasn't selectable. Then during the gameplay video, which was most likely recorded later, it said he had one Chaos Emerald and the special stage was selectable. The game probably just adds zones to level select as you go along, and he simply didn't get past zone 4 yet. There will probably be 7 zones in the game, since everything else in that previous leak about the game was right.

Wait did I just see "Online interaction not rated by the ESRB"? Does that mean this game is going to have online multiplayer?

That's most likely just referring to the online leaderboards.

What are you talking about? The player obviously was more interested in screwing with the physics than reaching the top. He was able to stand still on an almost vertical slope.

I really like the menu theme. So far, this music is going in the direction of Sonic 1-2, not really 3 or CD. I personally would have loved for the music to be CD-esque though. <_<

EDIT: Whoa, website did some funky stuff. Sory for the extra posts.

Did it cross your mind that the player may have been holding "right" to try to get up the slope but was held back by gravity and was forced to jump back and try again?

FLICKIES~

But really, I like what I see. With Alpha in mind this is EXACTLY what I wanted. Though wonder if this isn't all the zones? I mean, E.G.G. Station Zone anyone? I see Splash Hill, not E.G.G. Factory that was also confirmed.

The person was able to stand at both 45 degree and 90 degree angles to the ground. If they were holding right and that was just able to keep them in place at 45 degrees, it wouldn't have done the same at 90.
