While the Video Games only have an English and Japanese Dub (As far as I know), the TV shows were also dubbed in other countries. I'll take Sonic X as an example here..

I really like the German voices, with an exception of Shadow... I like them more than the 4Kids voices. Tails sounds much more boyish, and Sonic doesn't sound like he has a stuffed nose. All in all the voices were quite fitting. Eggman is great! There was rumor back before Secret Rings came out that the game was gong to be dubbed in German, but that never happened.

What other languages can Sonic and co. speak? What are your favorite? I guess you can also discuss 4kids against Sonic Team voices here, because this is sort of about all of Sonic and Co's voices, but that's not what the topic is really about.. I'm more interested in hearing Sonic in languages that weren't in the games.

I remember seeing the second series (eps 53-78) of Sonic X in French originally, since they aired there first.

Considering they had quite literally only a dozen people doing every single voice, it was pretty damn good. Okay, there were a couple of stupid ones (Decoe and Espio come to mind), but the rest weren't bad.

Also, Sonic sounded like Rayman. D:

Yeah.. Whenever 4kids dubs something, we get that version (except One Piece, we had that before America)

Sonic seems to be bilingual even before you factor in all the dubs. After all, he's forever using English phrases in the original Japanese animé - even using those phrases to teach kids how to say certain things in a special 'English lesson' segment that you can also find online. He can be a bit Engrishy though... "SooooOOOOooo beautiful~!" D'aww.

The Engrish lessons were from the Japanese Hi-Spec DVDs, I have them. =P

But yeah, one thing I find odd is, well- Sonic X is clearly set in an alternate version of America, so shouldn't that mean that Sonic & co. would actually speak English anyway? I mean, obviously it's in Japanese originally since it aired in Japan, but you catch my drift.

In my opinion, the games should be dubbed in more languages, like italian or portuguese.

As seen in the first video, the Italian Sonic voice is hilarious. The Portugal Portuguese(2nd video) has some pretty good voice-overs on Sonic and Eggman too!

Well, we arabs suffer alot

We got Sonic X dubbed but in a really really bad way...

Sonic sounds like an 8 year old girl, Shadow and Sonic share the same voice actor but Shadow sounds waaaaaaaay too soft. Oh and i don't need to mention Chris, Eggman is good though. We also got the Jetix theme song which is good in my opinion.

Anyhow, there are not too much videos in Youtube. And since you don't understand arabic, no need to put more videos eh? If you want more you just ask.

I like the German dub, all of the voices I've heard so far seem to fit the characters.

I should probably watch more stuff like this on a regular basis to be honest, it would undoubtedly help with my German studies.

It surprises me in this day and age that they don't dub the games into other languages. Most games do but I guess they just don't have the budget.

Actually, a genuine curiousity here - those of you who don't speak English as your first language, what language do you generally prefer to use in-game? English or Japanese (my guess would be english as it helps strengthen your ability to communicate on forums such as this, but yeah)?

I'd love to hear the opinion of a person hard-of-hearing on Sonic games too... I've always felt their subtitles slightly inadequete, especially during gameplay on say, Sonic Heroes. You'd have no idea who is talking.

Rouge and Shadow German.

Rouge is okay, but not perfect. Better than 4Kids voice, but thats not hard. I like it. Funnily, its the same voice as Nico Robin from One Piece

I don't really like Shadow, though... I guess it could be worse...

Did I forget any Characters from the games? I think I got everybody except Big and Gamma, but I don't know what episodes they appear in. Once I do, I'll post them, too.

There are a few One Piece voices in there , like Rouge. The Butler from Chris has Sanji's voice Actor, and I think Espio has Usopps voice (He sounds like Usopp when he is Sogeking).

I doubt any multilingual VA can top Ms Piggy Decoe in the French dub for sheer weirdness/hilarity.

I also find it weird how Sonic makes those weird sounds when he dashes in the French dub. And I am a big fan of Sonic engrish in the Japanese version. It sounds so cute and adds a cute little dimension to Sonic's character that just can't translate for obvious reasons. I was kinda dissappointed in an odd way that Sonic Unleashed was light on the Engrish.

Here's Gamma. I'm not sure if Big is there, I'm still watching it. If not I'll look for episode 30 Nevermind, he already shows up at 20 seconds xD. He doesn't sound stupid enough to me... Gamma is...meh. Nothing to his SA voice, but I don't know his 4kids voice, but if it sounds anything like Omega in 06, than German wins xD..

Tails sounds a lot like his german voice, which I like. Sonic is okay, but I don't like it a whole bunch.. Knuckles sounds a bit stupid when he's yelling ^^'. He's okay other than that and I guess Knuckles is a bit stupid anyway xD

I can't seem to find this segment anywhere. It's a separate segment, right?
