First Sonic 4 Boss Pic, Fanbase in Disbelief; Obama Demands Change

Do we need reminding that other Sonic games have reused boss' before... did anyone complain back then?

Exactly! Multiple games reused ideas, it's no big issue. Now if the entire game was just a huge Sonic 1 remake that'd still be a little disappointing, but if it were fun and enjoyable, then there'd be no issue! XP

In games that didn't even claim to feed off nostaliga either, no less. Hell, we should just be glad he's at least using the Eggmobile again.

What really irritates me is that this is exactly what people were asking for not months before Sonic 4 was revealed. That fans are suddenly going back on their word and claiming it's a bad idea just confuses the hell out of me.

Hmm, so I guess in terms of Nintendo Points it'd equate to about 600 points?

That said, most Virtual Console/ WiiWare games are either 500, 800 or 1,000 points. Who's willing to bet it'll be 1,000 points for the Wii? >.>

Boss re-useage has been done before Sonic even left the Mega Drive/Genesis and no-one complains about those.

I wouldnt mind that boss again mixed with the boss chase stuff from Sonic Advance 2.

Yeah.... but the fact that they're reusing the first boss in a zone that seems to be remodeled closely after Green/Emerald Hill with previously used badniks......

Like I said before, this looks quite classical, far from Sonic Rush (sans wonky physics in an alpha video), but.... it's beginning to let me down on its promise of being a NEW Sonic adventure =/

Like I said, I could tolerate reusing badniks and motifs, but bosses is pushing it too far.

To me it looks fake. That Sonic model hardly looks like the model on the site. D: But that 360 shot sort of proves it is real. But it's too soon to assume so I'm gonna shut up for a bit.

Sega release more please. :)

If we are indeed going to entertain the notion that the screen is fake, the only two things that arouse my skepticism is the fact that Sonic isn't directly positioned on top of the platform and the godawful atmospheric perspective. But both can probably be explained away regardless. This is an entirely different segment during an act we haven't had full view of. xP

That pic actually looks really nice, IMO... classic, yet fresh and new.

And.... I GUESS I could forgive them reusing the old Sonic 1 boss as the first boss... IF, and ONLY IF they inject a new gimmick into it to make it feel fresh and unique, such as adding a chasing sequence once you damage it enough, or something. Also, it'd help if the other bosses were... oh, I don't know, original....

At first I thought it was legit, but the more I look at it, the less convincing it looks...the forest background is so much blurrier than the rocks-and-water background behind it...no sir, I don't believe it.

I'll repeat what I posted on TSSZ:

It does look fake, doesn’t it! The funny thing is that the original bad-quality shot that was leaked is just as blurry. Not sure why, but there you go.

Also note that the mountains in the background–the ones also in the title screen–have sections not shown in the title screen art. Where do you suppose he got that from if it’s a fake?

The dashboard pic looks kinda real but those screenshots look too water coloured, like they've been painted or something compared to the video's we've seen that dont look like that at all. If these are real then Endri is getting the sack and probably more. I'll keep an open mind for now

I suppose there's a few other disparaties too-- Extra pixels on top of the two platforms and in the ocean, and the small, abrupt lines that indicate the presence of the triangular bushes are a recurring element along the ground.

That pic looks fake too.

Seriously, this whole thing is making me think of New Super Mario Bros Wii all over again, I'm hearing all the same arguments about graphics and such... I'll wait to see more in motion. In screens, New Super Mario Bros doesn't look all too special either. I know this isn't New Super Mario Bros Wii, but you can't doubt the familiarities are numerous.

Considering the complaints present, that Mario screen actually looks less fake since the atmospheric perspective is fine, level pieces of archetecture or landscape doesn't have any unnecessary pixellation, and the characters are level to the ground. But hey, what do I know? I'm not a Photoshop expert. xP

Why would they place a chase segment before the ol' ball in chain? Anyone who's not been living under a rock since the 90s has probably played this boss before. It would be much more awesome to lure players into a false sense of security before Eggman wigs out and the ball becomes an angry swiss army knife of doom or somethin'.

Look at the timer. 17 seconds would make for one short chase scene. Im sure it comes afterwards.

Endri has nothing to do with these leaks. The game is on PartnerNet, so anybody who has access to that could feasibly play the game.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up :)

PartnerNet will get in shit then  I wonder how this has all happened? I'm getting pretty sick of all these leaks, its just bringing the excitement down for me.

Well, to me, in the shots, Sonic and Eggman look kinda fuzzy/jagged/whatever around the the edges of their models, while Mario looks more "rounded" in that shot (though this may just be because of Sonic 4's camera being more zoomed in than NSMB's).

But if these are real, I'm slightly disappointed that they may be are probably reusing level themes, Badniks, and Bosses in this game. Still gonna buy it, but still slightly disappointed.

EDIT: Since it was removed by SEGA, it looks like they're real. But whatever, I'm still gonna buy it for sure.

That pic is a more final version of the game, they looked a lot more jagged in earlier game shots. That and yes, Sonic 4's camera is more closed in, while New Super Mario Bros Wii is more spread out.

And as said above, SEGA is now asking sites to remove images of the boss.

This may be just for nostalgia's sake in the first level.

I wouldn't jump and say that this is going to be Sonic 1 2.0, because you can't judge everything based off the first level.

But I will say that there had better be some original bosses in later levels. A second Sonic 1 is a waste on the count that there is already a Sonic 1 to begin with.

Well when SEGA puts their hand inside it, you know it's real. You should change the topic title now to show that it's authentic!

For all complaining this is just going to be Sonic 1, Casino Street, Lost Labyrinth, and Mad Gear don't look like Sonic 1 at all. There may be more zones, but we wil lsee at this rate, but this isn't a Sonic 1 rehash. I mean it even has homing attack and spin dash.

I know what you mean. They promised us classic Sonic but now they're giving us Sonic 1 and a half in HD with improvements. I know classics are good but you shouldn't relive the game all over in a new game. It's odd.

Oh well...

I wanna believe ya. But I'm looking at so much shit recycled from the old games.

IF this boss is the only classic-rehashed boss, and it does have a unique gimmick, I'll enjoy every second that I'm eating my words.
