Now can we talk about the comics again?

Edit: I do have a question actually...

I went to a local comic shop and snagged both covers of MM #25, liked them both.

Has anyone seen the variant covers of SU #52 in the wild? I would get both variants.

He's entitled to his opinion. I don't like most of Penders' work either, but I can accept that some people might.

I fully well know that, but we all gotta have your debate rebuttals ready if our opinion doesnt fit with the natural flow because people are going to question you about it and try to talk sense/call you out for it. human nature and all...

So, uh, this is an Archie artist's thing (with colours from Pete)...but it's for the StC/O anniversary timeline.

I do love Jon Gray's stuff, and his manic style suits the biggest maniac in StC very well.

But isn't that kind of an argumentum ad populum?

But isn't that kind of an argumentum ad populum?

It's more along the lines of "Explain your opinion and make sense", than "the majority agrees, so you're opinion is wrong".

We have people from just about every faction of Sonic here, not everyone is going to agree on one thing (our Oldbies here sure as hell don't). We're not going to jump others for being different here.

Sonic the Asshole returns.

Who writes for Sonic most of the time? His jokes feel so recycled, stuff that everyone has made several times over all over the internet by now.

Yeah, some of those jokes were a bit forced there. Could've done a better job than that.

I did like how he lampshaded Amy's tendency to get the wrong guy. The Knuckles lyric portion was kinda unnecessary.

Well Amy getting the wrong hedgehog is just asking to be joked on, so I find it difficult not to play on that.

-There's something hilarious about Rose Woman being weak to Blaze Tornado while Knuckles Man is weak to Rose Hammer.

-LOL, love Sonic's cheesy expression for "Did he trick you again?" Oh, Sonic....

-Yeah, the Knuckles lyrics could've been less blatant.

-Did they just take a jab at one of the levels from ShtH with the color passcode thing?

-Oh, Amy. Just admit you're colorblind.

-Chaos Devil looks.....okay. Granted I wasn't expecting a fusion between Chaos and the Yellow Devil to look not-ugly to begin with, but not sure if it's better or worse than Yardley's take on Tikhaos. But I do kinda like how it's not going to be another obedient slave and wreck shit up for both parties.

-Between the small portion of Robot Masters and Duo finally arriving, I do believe shit's gettin' real as someone else said before.

Now we can only look forward to Bates blowing both Peppers and Yardley out of the water come Act 3.

No, that's how the NES Mega Man games used passwords. They'd be red dots (blue dots were also present in 3) on this 7x7 (I think) grid.

Ah, I see. My mistake then.

Yeah, couldn't have been a jab at Shadow the Hedgehog, otherwise the only stipulation would be that all the buttons were the same colour, regardless of which colour it was. Which would be a crap security system outside cyberspace.

Also yeah, that Knuckles rap joke just made me wince.

Time for some spoilers:

The issue opens with Eggman and Wily noticing their Roboticized Master predicament and once again nervously assuring themselves that they'll still win in the end. However, unbeknownst to their respective partner, they're both planning to take the Wily Egg back to their own world and leave the other (Along with the heroes) trapped in the Skull Egg Zone should things take a turn for the absolute worst. (Resulting in a cameo from Cream and Big in Eggy's fantasy plan.) They both laugh maniacally and head off in opposite directions, sneering at each other over their shoulder as Orbot and Cubot ready their Egg-Wily Machine X (Resembling a hybrid of the Death Egg Robot and Wily Machine 9) for battle.

Meanwhile, the heroes are making their way across an area of the Skull Egg Zone resembling Chemical Plant with Croakers and Tackle Fires inhabiting it. They move on to a desert-like area and Sonic starts to get impatient searching for Knuckles and Amy, wishing for a sudden ambush. As if to fulfill his wish, the two Roboticized Masters teleport in and attack. Sonic notices that they're both prepping self-destruct sequences and warns the others that they need to get them back to normal quickly. Rock switches to Silver Man's Psycho Burst weapon and fires at Rose Woman, only for the Robo Rascal to block it using her Piko Hammer arms. Knuckles Man clocks Mega Man in the back of the head only for the Blue Bomber to get right back up and switch to the Acoustic Blaster. Rock fires Vector Man's lyrical assault at the rad red robot only for him to swat it away using his Sharp Knuckle. Rock asks Tails if the Docs did anything special to make these two stronger than the others, but the fox informs him of Knuckles' history of battling Sonic to a stand-still and Amy's more-than-meets-the-eye strength. The two bots' countdown clocks reach two minutes until self-destruction, forcing Mega Man to think on his feet. He asks Tails to hold RoboKnux off while he switches to Blaze Woman's Fire Tornado weapon and blasts the currently distracted Rose Woman (Rush knocking Sonic out of the way before he gets flambe'd, too.) Rock then asks Sonic and Rush to help Tails out in distracting Knuckles Man while he reverts Amy back to normal. He acquires the Piko Hammer weapon and meets fists with Knuckles Man, cracking the echidna android's sharp namesake as a result. Now caught off guard by the disarming, Knuckles Man is easily swarmed by repeated attacks by Sonic, Tails, and Rush before Rock finally restores the Emerald guardian.

Sonic teases Knux about getting captured so easily as a tear-covered Amy suddenly grabs and hugs him tight. Sonic settles her down, introduces her and Knux to Rock and Rush, and informs them of the situation. Knux wants first crack at both of the Docs (Leading to said Unknown from M.E. reference), but Rock tells him that they need to find the base first and that Blues and the Chaotix are hard at work in doing just that. Speak of the devil, Rock quickly gets a transmission from Blues telling him that they've found the base hovering above a canyon with giant statues of both Docs in the center. They also found a teleporter pad used for mass-loading said fortress, but they're having trouble deciphering the colored dot password system to access it. Blues tells Rock that he'll help them set up a beacon so they can prepare a full-scale frontal assault and he ends the transmission. Rock tells everyone about the good news and says that they need to get all of Sonic's restored friends together quick. Sonic tells Tails and Knuckles to head to the beacon to help out the Chaotix with the teleporter and Rock and Rush to head back and grab Silver and Blaze at the meeting point while he and Amy track down Shadow. (Leading Sonic to poke some fun at Amy's previous "errors.")

Elsewhere, onboard the Wily Egg, Eggy and Wily are arguing about the specifications of the Egg-Wily Machine X when Orbot reports to them about the fate of the last two Roboticized Masters and the fact that someone has sabotaged their engines and is currently on the run from Bass and Metal. The Docs order a full lock-down and head to cut their little spy off. Speaking of the spy, Bass and Metal corner Rouge in a room filled with tons of vats of blue liquid. Bass taunts her, but she replies by turning a valve and releasing what was held in said vats, the newly created Chaos Devil monster. Not knowing friend from foe, the beast attacks Bass and Metal, causing them to regroup for another plan. Metal is able to cut Rouge off and starts grappling with her as they're both absorbed by the beast. The Docs arrive on the scene and Eggy orders the Chaos Devil to drop Rouge and Metal much in the same manner that a master would command his dog to drop a tennis ball. The beast obeys and Eggy orders Metal and Bass to escort Rouge to the Roboticizer. (Bass showing some reluctance in making more Roboticized Masters just to get blown away like the others.) Eggy tells Wily that despite the mess, at least they now know that the Chaos Devil functions and they still have all of their forces along with the Egg-Wily Machine X to repel the oncoming do-gooders. Meanwhile, back in Mega Man's world, Roll starts to get worried about the others and wonders if Duo got the signal when he finally arrives and asks about the situation. The issue ends. There's also a humorous Off-Panel starring Tikal.

-So both doctors are planning on betraying each other? Kinda figures since despite the bromance, they're both still petty enough to high-tail out of there when things do go bad.

-I'll just scratch the 'Chaos Devil being a wild card' then.

-So we are getting Rouge Woman afterall? Seems kinda late since we just got everyone back and obviously setting up for the big battle. Maybe she'll escape or they'll save her in time?

-Funny seeing how Bass is displeased with another RM (which explains the extra X on the RM select screen) when he and Metal Sonic helped gather most of Sonic's friends.

Things definitely are shaping up to be the best Act of the whole crossover.
