Archie Sonic Main Discussion

I don't know why they chose a Megaman artist to do an the adaption, This LW comic is going to be read by both vererans, newbies, and non-comic readers. We should have had our best artists doing that LW comic to show the non-readers that the comics' art isn't shit gravy anymore.

Though it isn't bad, its not the best either.

I'd like to see Archie do a Kirby comic, though that's only because I'm a sucker for Kirby. If anyone's seen DestructionSeries' fanimations, you'd probably agree with me that Kirby would be fine talking in speech bubbles, so long as he's given the right personality.

Brawl int he family is a fun parody side. Its definately doable, and Archie are proably the people to do it, but Nintendo has to be willing to do it

You know which Nintendo series could benefit from an "Archieverse"? Star Fox.

There are tons of characters, events, and history in the Lylat System alone that could make for years of great story material. Assuming the original SNES game is non-canon, they could cover from Star Fox 64 all the way to Star Fox Command and everywhere in between-- even the "Farewell, Beloved Falco" manga that explained the 8-year gap between 64 and Adventures. They could even bring back some older, obscure characters like Fay and Miyu from the cancelled Star Fox 2, like the Sonic book did with Bark and Bean.

...As you can tell, I'm a pretty big Star Fox nut. tongue.png But I would love to see this happen and I've been wanting it for years.

Uhhh, maybe take that kind of talk to a different topic since this is supposed to be Sonic.

Just saying it might be a bit better.

They're all probably still recovering from their crossover work... well, except Yardley.

Time for some more pirate-y goodness! First the spoilers:

The issue opens with Captain Metal's crew touting a caged Blaze on an island. She decides to wait for the right moment before attempting escape. Metal taunts her by revealing that the cage that she's trapped in is made out of tungsten carbide, resisting her flames. She asks what's to keep her from simply burning them from inside it, to which he has Swash give her a brief jolt of electricity. She decides to remain in the cage for the time being, but says that her friends WILL be avenged. Speaking of, in the middle of the sea, it's revealed that Amy, Cream, and Marine took refuge in an empty explosives crate before the ship went up. The crate begins to sink, causing Marine to freak out about their possible watery demise, but Amy brings her back to her senses, restoring her confidence. However, that's cut short by several gray fins approaching their waterlogged crate. Marine once again freaks out at the chance of being a shark lunch, but Amy jumps into action, getting ready to hammer them away. However, they're revealed to be dolphins, who communicate with Cheese and reveal that they've seen the pirates and Blaze on a nearby island. They also offer to give the lot of them a lift, so they gladly accept.

Back on the island, while Bean and Bark whip up a quick smoothie for the caged pyrocat, Swash and Buckle suggest that she try to stay on the Captain's good side. She asks where he came from and says that she's seen him (or at least someone who looks like him) before. The two salts reveal that Captain Metal was a damaged robot brought back from destruction by a kindly yet oddly familiarly orange-mustached robot scientist called Doc Ratcheturn. The Doc was never seen again after repairing him, but Metal soon returned in his ship and challenged a robot pirate captain called Boltbeard to a duel. He won and used Boltbeard's parts to upgrade his body, becoming a robotic captain himself. They've followed his orders ever since. Blaze says that she'll make sure that he's taken out of her world for good this time. Elsewhere on the island, Amy's crew arrives and they head out to rescue Blaze. However, they quickly run into some robotic natives that try to carry Marine away. After trying to get her back and Cream being snatched by them as well, Amy overhears the natives mentioning "helping a fire cat," which leads her to believe that wherever they're dragging them off to, they WANT to go. Amy lets herself get carried off by the natives as well and the three embark to the center of the island.

Blaze and Metal's crew arrive inside of a stronghold where the Captain reveals that he needs all of her Sol Emeralds to enhance his new ultimate weapon that appeared from another world and his crew quickly repaired. She refuses to give the rest of them up to him and he has her cage lifted up by a magnet, giving her a full frontal view of said weapon. Meanwhile, the natives escorting Amy's group to save Blaze introduce themselves as the Sprockets, robots who are always abused by the pirates and are willing to do anything to stop them for good. They soon arrive at the stronghold and help Amy, Cream, and Marine climb up its extremely tall walls just in time for them to get a glimpse of Metal's ultimate weapon at the same time as Blaze. It's revealed to be the Egg O' War, AKA, the Wily Egg patched up and repurposed by the pirates. While Marine admires the monstrosity, the Sprockets point out Blaze's cage, giving Amy and Cream time to fly over to her cage and attempt to free her. However, they're soon given away by Marine, who confronts Captain Metal to avenge her ship's destruction and friend's kidnapping. Before she gets fragged by his arm cannon, however, Cream swoops in to save her. Captain Metal releases a robotic squid called the Kraken to attack them as Blaze and Amy quickly try to weaken the cage. Metal tells his crew to release the cage from the magnet JUUUUUUUST before she gets free, making her other Sol Emeralds easy pickings once the Kraken finishes with her. However, speaking of Sol Emerald, Captain Metal suddenly notices that he's one short, causing Bean and Bark to reveal themselves as the thieves and run off with it. The issue ends with Metal ordering his crew the release the cage and get the Emerald back. There's also a humorous Off-Panel concerning Blaze's cage situation.

And then some sneak peeks:

I second this notion....though for some reason when ever I think about Star Fox adaptations, I always picture a cross between Top Gun and Cat Shit One.

I know, i know violence, but if Flynn can write New Crusaders, he can do a gritty Star Fox. Alas, no go from Nintendo.

Shouldn't this Nintendo Archie thing split off into its own topic? it seems like theres enough discussion to warrant one.

Hmmm, well if someone would, they first want to establish a base point, and possibly put up the samples that were created by the archie artists, and set some guidelines, so it doesnt turn into a rampant speculation topic that gets shut down

Have I gotten my new Sonic Universe early or are others getting a hold of theirs now as well?

You're talking about Pirate Plunder Part 2, right?

Wait, I just had a thought, who created Mammoth Mogul? and how will this shift effect Silver's future? we know its still bad, but I did like the dynamic he had going with Mogul and Edmund from the Universe arcs

Also Mogul adds some nice depth to the comic, I mean he's an enemy who is a constant threat, with heavy powers, and a master organizer

Mogul was made by Scott Fulop so he's safe

Ah, good. While he isnt the perfect, He has been used well, and he's one of the several good villian alternitives in the comics to alternate from Eggman, and it ought to be interesting to see how he has been effected by the reality shift

Well the "new" reality Mogoul might still be a threat to the freedom fighters, as opposed to the old Mogoul who decided that he couldn't beat Sonic so would just wait until he died.
