Alright, description time. I'll do the Sonic side as well just for fun and expand on details a bit.

Sonic Comic Origins: Into the Unknown

This comic starts with Eggman chasing Sonic in Apotos, taking place in between Champions and Spark of Life presumely. Eggman has a bunch of egg robots attacking Sonic as he chases him while Eggman goes on a rant about how Sonic is interrupting his attempts at world domination. Suddenly, a genesis portal opens up and the Ifrit pops out, attacking Sonic and Eggman. The Ifrit attacks Eggman, and destroys his Egg-Robots, causing him to retreat. Sonic makes mention of how Tails is currently elsewhere (Spark of Life) and Sonic jokes about how he has the Ifrit all to himself.

Sonic attacks but the attack does barely anything as the Ifrit counter attacks with flame breath. Suddenly, Silver appears and attacks the Ifrit. Sonic at first is surprised to Silver (Even stealing the Sonic Boom character logo gag for a minute) and begins to make a bunch of time travel puns to Silver's annoyance, with Silver threatening to feed Sonic to the Ifrit if he doesn't cut it out.

After their attacks do barely anything, they notice the still open Genesis portal. Silver and Sonic come up with a plan to lure it back through the portal and Silver launches Sonic into the Genesis Portal, luring the Ifrit back in, Sonic then uses the Ifrit's head to bounce back into his own dimension, with Silver closing the genesis portal in explosive fashion...only to forget Sonic's currently falling to the ground. Silver catches him and explains that him and Professor Von Schlemmer discovered the genesis portals, along with the events of Worlds Collide, and the Gensis portals were caused due to the multiverse shattering, ripping holes into dimensions.

The Sonic portion ends with Sonic and Silver discussing what they need to do, with Sonic fixing the Earth and Silver closing the portals. They leave on good terms. The Sonic side then ends with Eggman having snuck a robot behind the two and overhearing the conversation, foreshadowing the events of Worlds Unite by planning to use the portals as an "Enterprising Genius" to dominate a world or two

The Mega Man side on the other hand is just a bunch of Xander reprints.

The comic starts with stock art of Mega Man from one of the early issues talking about how he heard that after Xander travelled back in time, he had lost his mind. This cuts to a scene from one of the Legends of the Blue Bomber issues where Xander carves pictures into the wall and talks about worlds colliding again.

This cuts to Mega Man #2 where he talks to Xander and his brother when they were soldiers and he was going to stop the original 6 robot masters, he then talks about how Elec-Man under the control of Wily shocked Xander, causing him to go to hospital and lose his eye. It flashes back to how in the hospital, his brother told the doctors to give him a robot eye implant. He gets pissed off and goes on a rampage destroying robots.

Next, we see him and his brother joining the Emerald Spears but it explains how he was to much against robots for even them. The other members wanting to re-educate people about robots while Xander wants to outright kill anyone who creates robots (I.E Dr.Light and others).

Xander attacks and kills the Emerald Spears leader and takes over, planning to attack. It then cuts to when he planted a bomb at the robot convention in Spirtus Ex Machina and shows Mega Man and the other robot masters working to stop him after his attack. He leaves Rush to guard Xander but he shoots Rush and escapes with his brother and another member of the Emerald Spears.

It then moves to his attack on New Year's where he plants the bomb on the new year ball, and shows Mega Man fighting Xander and disabling the bomb. Mega Man then explains that with every battle, Xander got more and more enraged and recently, he broke into the Chronos Institute and hijacked the experimental time machine showing him travelling through time and seeing Mega Man and Bass shooting at something while Xander tells them to stop.

Mega Man tells us there's no telling what happened to him in the time stream but it shows him being in the Mega Man X-Verse and he rants at X about how "he's leading the robot revolution" and mistakes X for Mega Man (From Dawn of X) The final page shows him travelling back to 20XX and talking about his experience and then it shows a full page of Xander looking crazy and drawing pictures of Mega Man's helmet, Sonic, an outline of Silver's head, and more, while talking about how they'll see, and how'll it'll cost lives. The final Mega Man narration talks about how "There's no way he's seen the future....right?"

There are a few extras as well such as a Worlds Collide poster, two Previous... Pages that is in every Mega Man and Sonic issue, and 4 pages of recaps. Two for Mega Man, discussing how he was built, Ra Moon, Mega Man Vs The Wily Walker and the events of Dawn of X, the events of Legends of the Blue Bomber and The Ultimate Betrayal and finally having a recap of The X Factor and the Mega Man X side of Dawn of X.

The Sonic recap goes over from Worlds Collide to Champions. The only interesting detail as VEDJ-F said was it pretty much says all memories of the old world are completely gone, the last 20 years of stories will never be brought up, enjoy.

Nice to see they aren't creating more new characters, but using the existing and expansive library of characters the Sonic series is known for.

 

I'd much rather they used existing characters to bulk up Silver's supporting cast than them create new characters outright.

 

I'm glad they used Von Schlemmer and not Caninestein though.. I still like the idea that Caninestein might possibly be Muttski's father or some kind of relative. :U

 

The Science connection would be a great way to introduce their relationship.

One more interesting thing to note is I'm rather unsure if Silver's future is destroyed, the lab Silver was in is pretty well maintained and clean. It seems like something that wouldn't be able to occur in Silver's world. Leaving two possibilities. Either Silver travelled to the past and entered that lab or Silver's future isn't destroyed.

Here's the important information we've gotten from this comic as well for those who couldn't get one,

 

 

-It's confirmed that Countdown to Chaos was a waste of time, all memories are gone, those 20 years of comics will never be mentioned or important again. Don't like how Countdown to Chaos was a nothing more than just giving false hope that these memories will be important again.

 

-Sonic Rivals 2 is canon

 

-It appears that it's the future where Von Schlemmer is. I'm not sure though as he appears in an lab and we can't get a clear look if Silver's world is destroyed or not, but he's seems to be a cyborg and has tech that appears to trump Eggman's since he could detect exactly what happened to Sonic's world.

 

-Silver and Von Schlemmer know what happened in Worlds Collide, but they don't know anything that occurred before the Super Sonic/Eggman fight

 

-The genesis portals were created due to the multiverse imploding in on itself, creating rips in dimensions and creating the genesis portals.

WOOT! Von Schlemmer is the last AoStH character I wanted! 

 

I love this new take on him: his design is cool and still feels vaguely Sonic-y, and I'm delighted that Silver has a new friend in his own time! (I wonder if V.S. is descended from any of the present-day human characters we've seen?)

 

As for Sonic's (and, presumably, everyone's) memories of the old continuity being gone for good... yeah, it's sad, and we needed a lot more closure on subjects like Sally's penance for her Mecha-days... but I think it's just time to move on.

 

We have a brand-new world with all the best elements from the games, SatAM, AoStH, and even '06, plus plenty of new material to make this world stand out on its own. It's time to make new memories to go alongside our old ones.

 

Most importantly, while Sonic and the gang don't remember the old universe, we still do. And that's what matters.

Actually, before we do, let's get some new facts out the way; Tails was maybe or maybe not born in Mobotropolis, Sonic wasn't.

He most likely won't thanks to the "No Family Except Vanilla" mandate. At best, we'd get a different character who looks like him.

 

I mean, technically he's not Robotnik/Eggman's kid, but I think that'd still be toeing the line in Sega's eyes.

 

then i wonder  if Eclipse will comeback.. he was looking for the Master emerald shards i guess?  just like Knuckles..

but since he its biologicaly Shadow's sibling.. well.. i wonder if that mandate makes an effect on him...

The mandate doesn't affect Eclipse - if it did, he wouldn't exist at all, since he was made after it was enforced.

He's not his biological brother, SEGA would have veto'd that before he could even enter the comic.

 

They both share Black Arm blood but that's it, and it's not even known if Eclipse has Black Doom's blood. The other half of their genetic code are obviously not from the same source, otherwise Eclipse would probably look like a hedgehog as well. 

 

Eclipse uses "brother" as a way to connect himself with Shadow, but ultimately the closest to brother they have in definition is the comradery sense.

Plus, Eclipse is more of a clone than a biological sibling. As Flynn put it, Black Death essentially made his own bootleg duplicate of Shadow.

 

...Then again, if Black Doom created Black Death and could also be seen as Shadow's surrogate father, would that make Eclipse Shadow's nephew?

Put it this way. Eclipse isn't really Shadow's brother. He was created from left over Shadow DNA and Black Arms DNA to create a Dark Arms solution to Shadow. Eclipse refers to himself as Shadow's brother due to the fact they both share the same kinds of DNA and the fact that in general, the Black Arms consider each other brothers, the exceptions being Black Doom and Black Death.

You know, this franchise has an odd liking for siblings. Anyone else notice? I mean, Sonic has 3 biological siblings from various settings, and plus Tails who Sonic tends to regard as being a little brother.

Actually, not really. The games themselves have no siblings, and there's only a few relations outside of that (Eggman's grandfather, cousin and descendent, Cream's mother, the Commander's granddaughter and Jet's father. Shadow to Black Doom isn't really an example in the usual sense). Otherwise, you have bonds which act familial when they're not. 

 

The only branches I'd say were gung-ho for family were Sonic Underground and Archie Sonic prior to the reboot, and only Archie Sonic was absolutely OTT about it. SatAM, for all its shackling of Sonic I think it did, only introduced an uncle for Sonic, a nephew for Robotnik and a father for Sally, all of which were introduced for a specific reason. Sonic the Comic in all its run only really introduced family for Mighty and Charmy, I think (maybe Tails, I don't know too much about his dimension). Archie Sonic went overboard with it considering the franchise, especially Penders (Let's see, Sonic's parents, Charmy's family, Mighty's family (unfortunately for those who liked Matilda), Knuckles' family (all twenty-odd generations of them!) and Amy's cousin), although he wasn't the only one.

As far as I recall the foxes in the Nameless Zone weren't Tails' family, as he was an orphan. Which brings the question, "why was he sending them letters then?"

 

Sally Acorn had Tuftee, no idea if that's relevant.
