Maybe it's because over half of the fanbase sets the standards of Sonic games too high, not looking at some of the good aspects of the games, like the innovative (IMO) teamwork concept on Heroes or the Werehog concept on Unleashed. (I may sound like a broken record on that one.) SEGA can't please everybody on Sonic games, and the post-Heroes games DEFINITELY proved that.
