Mass Effect 3

Question:

Do you guys think it was a good idea to let the Illusive Man have the Collector base? Those eyes of his made me think he could have been working for the Reapers all this time if ME3 is any indicator, but the thought of reverse engineering the technology that could create the Reapers was too tempting an opportunity to let up.

And now I'm thinking I should have destroyed it, but...it's the Reapers. It's almost a damned if you do damned if you don't situation, and that got me the most Renegade points throughout the game despite me going Paragon.

You have got to give it up to Bioware for making some pretty hard choices...and now they're making it worse in ME3. :(

On the one hand, there's the Citadel, which is a Reaper construct that doesn't indoctrinate anybody, so maybe the Collector Base could be safe to use. On the other hand, EVERY CERBERUS OPERATION EVER goes horribly wrong (except the offscreen ones we're told about) requiring Shepard to kill things.

It was already mentioned that the Reapers already indoctrinated Cerberus so it is too late. Not only that, but the Illusive Man already had Reaper tech installed in him hence why he can speak multiple alien languages without the translator.

Well thank goodness Bioware had the option to completely redo the Suicide Mission. I destroyed that POS the second time around.

And all my squad members survived both attempts! I gotta say, I felt sorry and angry at how the collectors melted the colonists in one of the scenes. I went on a rage spree first when they kidnapped my crew, and it got worse after seeing that colonist die like that in front of me...sure I died a few times in the process, but I managed to complete it.

Originally had Mass Effect 1 + 2 saves for a Paragon and Renegade, but in the process of moving I lost all of it. Just completed a playthrough of 2 with Pargaon, and re-bought 1 so I can have all those little details at my disposal. I find that a default Mass Effect 2 is more or less a Renegade outcome in 1 anyway.

So, that's

Kai Leng

at the beginning? Interesting. Hopefully he'll be as good as Saren was in the first game.

And wow, Asari husks! They look like a cross between the gorgons from God of War and the Witch from Left 4 Dead. Creepy.

The Reaper variations look sweet, too. Definitely more hyped up now. This is going to be the longest 25-day wait ever. D:

So my opposite gets a sword and a gun with cybernetic upgrades and I don't? Fuck.

Wow. That IS bullshit.

Also, looking at the multiplayer, I kinda get both a feeling of "awesome" and "meh" as it's looks awesome yet plays so blandly. That's just a first look, but until I can play it myself, I can't get a full picture beyond the videos.

EDIT: Oh man. I know a great deal of stuff that'll happen in ME3 that (if true) I should not know this early before release, and that's all I'm going to say. It's a good thing the story as a whole is still much of a mystery.

Even though I prefer going Paragon, I sincerely hope that some of the Paragon decisions will come back to bite Shepard in the ass in MA3. The Paragon/Renegade system intrigued me because you finally have a morality system that isn't basic Good/Evil. So if it turns out that all of the Renegade choices are the evil/bad ones that will cause doom and gloom, then it comes across as a Good/Evil morality lesson anyway.

Has anyone posted this yet?

http://www.destructoid.com/dtoid-exclusive-adam-warrock-s-mass-effect-ep-221138.phtml

Popular nerd-core rapper Adam Warrock recently released an EP based on the Mass Effect series, and it's pretty awesome! I've never even played the games, but this actually made me start wanting to get into the series.

The demo is ooooooooooooout.

Just finished it, and... it's just combat (and some cutscenes, not gonna spoil anything) of course, which was never my major concern... :(

Oh, and yes, the combat feels great.

GOD, i haven't felt a need for VG related closure since Shenmue 2! SEGAAAAAAAAAA!

Well the demo is out.

And I hate it.

I hate that they allowed us to play that awesome intro and now I have to wait 3 weeks to play the rest. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF....

Eh, old news. We could do that in the first one. tongue.png

So about that mutliplayer...it's alright. Honestly, I was expecting a bit more from it, but it's decent enough to entertain and shoot around with friends.

Those FUCKING Phantoms tho. When they said they were goddamned ninjas on speed, they didn't go far enough with those ninja bitches. They can cloak, they'll kill you in one hit, they're hard to take down, and if there's a nemesis in the area they will screw you over luring you towards the Phantoms.

EDIT: OMG, I just found out some juicy news about a new squad member!

It's a Prothean!

A black motherfucking Shepard that actually had real black features and doesn't look like a white person with dark skin!

Fuck yeah.

And I found out about the secret character and I was pissed off! I mean really? You shell that shit out for a limited edition and don't even broadcast what that character is thus circumventing the people who rather not add ten additional dollars on something they don't know what the hell it is and when you do fucking reveal it, the limited edition of the game is no longer being sold. Fuck you, Bioware.

Luckily I'm getting the limited edition as I have with the rest of the Mass Effect series. Personally I'm glad its a that is the secret squad member we can recruit, will be interesting to see :)

Eh. You'll still be able to shell out extra for that super-interesting additional squadmember through DLC later on anyway.

Unless it's like the Casino Night DLC for Sonic Generations, which is still abscent from XBox Live. Bah!

It's confirmed to be available day one for anyone with the standard edition. Hopefully EA actually releases all the DLC this time around. The Terminus set and Collector set were never made available to anyone that missed ME2's launch date. The Dr. Pepper promotion is also over so if you didn't get those 3 items you've missed your chance. It's especially annoying that there was a cutoff for preorders of the ME3 collector's edition since EA couldn't meet the demand. I wanted that N7 hoodie damn it.

Ah, Day One DLC. "Features that were ready for release date, but which we decided to remove and make you pay extra for".

Oh, EA. You and your whacky shenanigans. Oh ho ho ho.

So this article has been going around calculating how much Mass Effect 3's day one "DLC" will cost.

http://kotaku.com/5888816/buying-all-of-mass-effect-3s-dlc-will-cost-you-870

I use DLC loosely because a majority of the cost comes from the actual physical items you're buying that include some form of DLC bundled with it AS A BONUS. That seems to be the point everyone is missing. The writer was clearly going for sensationalism and he succeeded. The assumption is being made that we're all idiots with OCD that will buy some expensive piece of junk just for the little digital thingy that comes with it rather than the physical item itself.

It's also incrediably flawed mathematics, not taking any reasoning into account and just simply lumping together everything that has anything to do with Mass Effect 3. They went ahead and used the Collector's Edition as a starting point and yet threw in the From Ashes DLC seperately even though it's included with the CE. The "multiplayer packs" are completely randomized unlocks and can be bought with in-game currency. Any packs you get through other means are simply a bonus.

The only real concern is the Collector assault rifle, which is spread out through mostly expensive peripherals. Most people would be satisfied just unlocking the gun itself. Any additional codes just upgrades the stats of the gun slightly. But I don't think it would be the end of the world if you couldn't use a +8 Collector rifle in Mass Effect 3. Anyone that does shell out the cash for those peripherals just for the gun upgrades has got some serious OCD problems.

If the Reapers actually escape, then there shouldn't be much of a point in them returning because clearly the galaxy is too bad ass for them to come back and harvest it anymore.
