Let's be positive for once

I'm optimistic about all the games anyway, how can I be positive 'for once'?

Well, okay, just don't bring certain continuities into the equation, and I'm optimistic.

Sonic Labyrinth was an incredible game. It's what got me hooked on the series in the first place. There's just something about how utterly fast Sonic goes that makes me love it! And the fact that only Sonic is playable helps too! Who likes tails anyway?

I always try to stay either neutral or optimistic when it comes to the Sonic series. Sonic Colors brings me hope in the franchise and I'm looking forward to what they have planned for the Sonic's 20th anniversary.

Like Crusher said, I don't enjoy when the media bashes Sonic, because it hurts his name a lot, even though most of those articles are mostly BS anyway. Though its just going to make it that much more sweet when we get a great game in hopefully, the forseeable future; The day a Sonic game is universally loved by all, and has grounds for being game of the year, I will go onto every forum and shout "UP YOURS, YOU THOUGHT WE COULDN'T DO IT, BUT WE DID, WHO'S LAUGHING NOW"?

I can only dream but I seriously doubt it. It's impossible for them to make a Sonic game that everyone will love cause there will always be people who will complain. They just need to focus on making a great game. The media I don't pay them no mind anymore. Most of the time the only way they can actually enjoy Sonic again if Sega make every Sonic game like Sonic the Hedgehog 1 on the genesis and I don't want more of the same thing all the time.

Does it really matter what the media says about Sonic games? This is a VERY loyal fanbase. We still have fans after Sonic 06; WE DIE HARD.

(or rather we don't die at all...)

I enjoyed the Werehog in Unleashed HD, the Tornado stages in SA1, all of Gamma's levels, and even some parts of Silver's levels in Nextgen. I also tend to find the majority of the soundtrack to SA2 very good although it doesn't fit what I see for a Sonic title; Metal Harbor, Sky Rail, City Escape (the prototype one) and Biolizard's music are my top favorites there. Everyone had pretty good character development in SA1, Sonic and Shadow were both pretty B.A. in SA2; and Chip, Gamma, (SA2-era) Shadow, and Blaze are the coolest new generation Sonic characters.

Would also like to point out this is not an April Fools' post, surprise surprise. We can't make one much better than Indy's, so why try? =P

I guess for the stuff I liked in modern games...I geniunly loved the Sonic Adventure Levels with Sonic/Shadow/Tails and Daytime in Unleashed. Heroes had some great Levels with Egg Fleet, Seasside Hill and others.I found Werehog and alternate gameplay styles in SA1 to be OK(in 2 it was rubbish). I liked most of the music, Adventure 1,Unleashed and Colors being the highlights and Shadow,06 being the lowlights.

Unleashed and Colors are also some of the prettiest plattformers(I hope Kawamura stays with the series as long as possible).

Positive? Okay. I recently played through Shadow the Hedgehog, and I loved it. Not my favorite, (Unleashed HD with colors following close behind.)but I enjoyed it as much as the Adventure games, which I happen to like quite a bit.

Yeah yeah, the story throws logic out the window; I still like it. As for the gameplay, I think it's solid; it's a hybird of Sonic and mech shooting. As for the complaints about the auto-aim, never had problems with it, seriously.

Here's your SHTH love.

I thought Sonic 06 was actually a lot more enjoyable than any of those old 16-bit "classics".

APRIL FOOOOOOOLS!

...Sorry bout that. But seriously though, i do love Sonic Heroes. It's also, strangely, one of the few games that i played after i started high school that actually fills me with warm, cuddly nostalgic feelings whenever i re-play it.

The colors felt so right last year. They gave me hope for a great 20th aniversary.

Let's hope SEGA will "REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACH FOR THE STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS TOOOONIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHT!!!" this year.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist :P

Probably because, until Colours, Heroes had the most environments that actually looked as if they'd be in Sonic's world, what with the checkered hills and the giant sky fish fleets and casino villas.

Which is slightly amusing, given that Heroes was also the first game to introduce Egg Pawns.

And that April Fools - ho ho ho! You had me all worried for a second there! Jolly good show!

*golf clap*

Let's see, there was that game with the duck, and then there was that level with music with the guitar and the trumpets, the level was ok I guess, but the big deal was the music. That game with the lights looked pretty good.

They also made that downloadable icy level that if I squint a bit and ignore the ground it kind of look like how I imagine a proper 3D Sonic game working till it doubles back.

Let's see if anyone has any idea what I'm on about.

I'm positive and excited about every Sonic game even if it is crap, because the music is pretty much ALWAYS. good. Sonic essentially has a part-time job as a rockstar.

Also, I've found very few of the "mediocre" and even "atrocious" Sonic games to be bad at all, like for example I tried Unleashed in spite of its low ratings and it's now one of my favorites. Hell, I don't EVEN trust reviews, I just rent the thing and decide for myself whether I like it. I'm also far less critical about things than most people, (Seriously there's a lot of things people say are horrible and I don't even understand what was bad about it. Don't even get me started...) so some might consider me almost overly positive...

Unleashed maybe?

This is true. Even the games that are hated by most people still have decent or good music. So I mean that's something positive about the series. The music.

The music is one of Sonic series strong points so yeah. Sonic '06 is consider the worst Sonic game by a lot of people but I still play it every once in awhile mostly cause of the music.

Emerald Coast?

Sonic the Fighter and Metal Harbor's music.

Sonic the Fighter was one of those rare games where it actually feels like you're playing a cartoon. It's impressive that they were able to pull off such fluent squash and stretch animation on that hardware, but then again, this is AM2 we're talking about.

Metal Harbor's music actually sounds like Sonic music while using recognizable instruments, and is also probably Jun Senoe's best track.

Well, considering most of my favourite Sonic moments come from the post-Dreamcast era (I know, I know... as if I didn't have enough problems already) then I'd say this topic is rather made for me! It'll probably be quicker to list what I dislike, actually.

I dislike the difficulty of the Special Stages in Sonic Heroes, the one downfall of an otherwise wonderful videogame.

I dislike the cutscenes, levels and storylines which include Big the Cat.

I disliked (past tense) the execution of Shadow the Hedgehog, something I've recently gotten over.

I dislike the technical aspects, like the framerate and loading times, of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), but adore the rest of the videogame.

I dislike the exclusivity of Sonic Colours, as I don't own a Nintendo Wii. The handheld version was cool, though.

I dislike the lack of news regarding Sonic Anniversary, and want it to be June already.

That's about it, really. Everything else about the franchise is absolutely fine by me. Most I love, all I like and the points highlighted above are the only moments I'll really have a problem with Sonic. Otherwise, being positive about things is totally my bag (yeah, groovy, etc.) and I celebrate such blind fanboyism in myself and others. I thought the plot, setting, characters and storyline of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), for example, was excellent. I laughed at the goofy, not-quite-funny humour between Sonic and Chip in the cutscenes of Sonic Unleashed, too, and even support the vastly inferior (but still great) PlayStation2 version. And pretty much any other widely-considered-bad point or moment in the franchise history, I'll usually play regularly and enjoy.

Heck, the SEGA MegaDrive classic I replay the most? Sonic 3D: Flickes' Island... yeah. Like I said, I know! :D

Warning: This is a very Negative post!

I HAT- love Sonic and nearly everything about it since I first encountered him.

HE'S A REAL BITC- hero to me despite the, oh so many bad comments about him (outside of the forum I mean)

If I handn't met him, i'd be so happ- EMPTY!! I mean, I didn't really like anything at all and couln'd really have fun at anything I ever done before.

All of the sonic games music are CRA- Made of win, since then I listen to music 23 hours 49mins a day every day of my life. The 11 mins is when I.... uh... oh snap, why am I missing that 11min!?

He really FU- saved my life...

Pardon my negative behavior in advance.

What point is the "negativity" meant to make? I don't get it.

He's attempting to veil his rage and attempt to be funny by making negative remarks about the franchise disguised (badly) as compliments.

Basically its failed attempt at a Joke.

Ah, good. I wasn't misunderstanding obvious statements then.

I do believe the "joke" was thwarted due to the severe lack of subtlety. Not that I'm one to talk about what counts as subtle...
