What stages do you want to see in Sonic Generations?

I dunno what the reaction to this would be like, but what about several of the SatBK Stages....granted remade so it isnt on rails, filled with unnecessarily large numbers of monsters, and minus clunky gameplay? Some of the soundtracks honestly sound way too awesome to be ignored.

Although if they do end up putting in the sword as a gag of sorts, they should probably make the sword swings automatic or something...

I very highly doubt that anything from SatBK will be in Generations...though that may just be my own personal hopes because I hated that game more than STH06 and ShTH combined.

it's already been confirmed that none of the "spin-off" games are going to be included. the storybook games count as spin off games, as does shadow the hedgehog, and I'm pretty sure I read that the handheld titles won't be used either.

So no SatSR stages? :( SatSR had some of the best looking stages ever!

These are my picks for stages:

2: Chemical Plant/Casino Night/Mystic Cave

Adventure: Lost World

Adventure 2: City Escape

Heroes: Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion

Shadow(?): Digital Circuit

06: Flame Core

Unleashed: Eggmanland

Colours: Aquarium Park

(I'm not that fussed about 1,3&K. I only chose the games I was most familiar with)

The main criteria I had in mind when I chose these is how much visual variety you would achieve when you lined up all the stages.

For example, I wouldn't select Kingdom Valley after choosing Lost world as they have a similar 'ruins' theme. The same goes for their colour palette, as they both consist of greens, blues and greys. I hoped to cover as many level tropes as possible.

I was just thinking, I'd really hate to see an imbalance of classic and modern zones, but look at the number of main games:

Classic:

Sonic 1

Sonic 2

Sonic 3

Sonic & Knuckles

Sonic CD (likely)

Modern:

Adventure

Adventure 2

Heroes

Shadow

'06

Unleashed

Sonic 4 (possibly?)

Colours

Rush (quite renowned and known for a handheld title)

Rush Adventure (as above)

Even without those few in brackets, there's more modern games than classic ones. I hope they balance this out by including multiple levels from classic games, and are sure to treat S3 and S&K as different games.

Adventure through Shadow isn't considered Modern, but Dreamcast era. It's going to be divided in thirds, not halves.

Except, considering we only have two Sonic's, I can't imagine they'll actually go into two much detail about the eras in the game.

They've already gone and said that the Dreamcast is it's own era, and will be represented as such. We have 20 whole years of ground to cover.

It's difficult to define- is it just the Adventure games or are Shadow and Heroes included too? They've stated there'll be three eras, I'm just not convinced that where they come from will actually mean anything. They only have two Sonics. Regardless:

Classic:

Sonic 1

Sonic 2

Sonic 3

Sonic & Knuckles

Sonic CD (likely)

Dreamcast:

Adventure

Adventure 2

Heroes

Shadow

Modern:

'06

Unleashed

Sonic 4 (possibly?)

Colours

It balances it out some, but it would kind of be shame I think to do that. At a glance, this game is doing Classic and Modern. That's certainly how most will know the games.

Do you guys think they'll skip Sonic06? Its stages wouldn't really work since the threat of Sonic 06 has been erased out of time itself.

They might also skip ShTH since it's a Shadow spinoff rather than a Sonic game.

If that's the case we pretty much get.

1991-1994 - Classic Era (4 years, 4/5 games depending on Sonic CD)

1998, 2001 & 2003 - Adventure Era (3 years, 3 games)

2008 & 2010 - Modern Era (2 years, 2/3 games depending on Sonic 4)

That would make the celebration a total of 9 years with 9 to 11 games to pick stages from.

To me, this just seem more likely than expecting 1 stage from Sonic1,2,CD,3,Knuckles,Adventure,SA2,Heroes,Shadow,2006,Unleashed,4,Colours.

If then say we end up with 10 games, wouldn't 2 stages from those 10 games make sense? 20 stages sounds like a good celebration number in my book. SA2 had 31 stages after all.

We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm thinking that they separate it by hardware generation, barring the 32-bit era, since the Sonic scene was fairly quiet those days.

Genesis - 16

Dreamcast/Gamcube/Xbox/PS2 - 128

360/PS3/Wii - OVER 9,000!!!

When was this confirmed?

I think back in those interviews with the Spanish subtitles. It's definitely been discussed on the forum too if you dig a bit.

I know it's been discussed, but I can't find that quote.

Anyway, I've just replayed Sonic Adventure 2.

I'm fine with any of Sonic/Shadow's stages. They're all worthy of a placement.

Well although Sonic's adventure with elise was erased from time and all notice how sonic was still in Soleanna at the end.He could have gone to soleanna for a vacation not just to foil Eggman. Which means some stages have a chance to make it in. We'll just have to see i guess.

Why would he be there if not to find the secret of the flames of the disaster though?

He could have gotten sucked through a time hole with sonic into Soleanna.

Edit: Silly me, I thought you were talking about the issue where Crisis City wouldn't be a Crisis without Iblis, and many of the levels wouldn't have the Iblis' spawn as enemies.

But that's off topic. Also, I now say if any Sonic Heroes stages get in, it should be Frog Forest, Egg Fleet or Final Fortress. All the other stages were either dull and boring, or frustrating for me. And if any Shadow stages get in, it should be Black Comet or one of the ARK stages, or Prison Island.

Solaris and Iblis were erased from the Past, Present and Future all at once within Sonic 06. That doesn't work as a good excuse to revive him considering you can't bring something into a time period if it doesn't exist throughout all of time anymore. If you remember the final battle, they explicitly make a point to say that Solaris had to be erased from all timelines to truly stop him, which the trio of Hedgehogs did.

Um i wasn't talking about Solaris i was talking about Sonic and Eggman going to Soleanna in Generations. Even after Solaris had been erased Sonic still was in Soleanna. So there is the possibility of them being able to go there.

ya know, I highly doubt Sega really cares too much about explaining the details about why and how Sonic visits stages from 2006. Seriously. If they want to put an '06 stage in the game, they will, and they won't worry for one second about any of this crap
