What stages do you want to see in Sonic Generations?

I don't think we should bother with that list, since it's basically been proven that Trunks has trolled the fanbase before. Just wait for more info, I guess? E3's next month, right?

For the toys, look at the badniks, not the backgrounds. The Sonic Heroes one shows a gray Egg Pawn. The only gray Egg Pawns I remember seeing were in Casino Park/BINGO Highway. Chemical Plant is no derp, as well as City Escape, but could someone refresh my memory... did the Sandworm badnik feature in Planet Wisp, or was it just Asteroid Coaster? I know the background is Planet Wisp, but I'm thinking it's more of a reference to the game the badnik is from. Sonic Colors was all Planet Wisp up in dis world since day 1.

Alright guys, I've been taking some time to think hard about this, fuck canon and all that for a while, this is my choice for GenHD and Gen3D based on these games:

Sonic The Hedgehog

Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Sonic The Hedgehog CD

Sonic The Hedgehog 3

Sonic and Knuckles

Sonic Adventure

Sonic Adventure 2

Sonic Heroes

Shadow The Hedgehog

Sonic The Hedgehog 2006

Sonic Unleashed

Sonic Colours

That's 12 chosen stages for both GenHD and Gen3D. Here we go.

Sonic Generations HD:

Zone I: Green Hill Zone

It's confirmed, not much to say here really.

Zone II: Chemical Plant Zone

Because I want to see Chemical Plant built in 3D with all the tubes and possibilities for alternative paths.

Zone III: Stardust Speedway

Another zone I want to see Modern Sonic speed through in 3D.

Zone IV: Angel Island Zone

I first chose Ice Cap Zone, but Angel Island Zone is so beautiful in 16-bit that I really want to see it in modern full-HD.

Zone V: Flying Battery Zone

People who know me knows that I hate Flying Battery Zone, but I'd love to see it reinvented like GHZ was in GenHD.

Zone VI: Emerald Coast

My favourite zone of all time, this had to go here because I can't imagine how cool it would be to see the Orca chase with Classic and for Modern Sonic it'll be nice to see something that's pretty much Wave Ocean improved.

Zone VII: Metal Harbor

Hard to pick between this and City Escape for GenHD, but in the end I felt that Metal Harbor is the one that can gain the most in HD.

Zone VIII: Egg Fleet

Best Zone in Sonic Heroes, epic and pretty. Would be awesome in HD even if it'll be a bit like Flying Battery.

Zone IX: Westopolis

I have an idea here, Classic Sonic could play Westopolis at day and Modern at night, that would be awesome!

Zone X: White Acropolis

Didn't think I'd leave out a snowboard stage did you?

Zone XI: Rooftop Run

This would kind of be like Classic Sonic's Westopolis without roads and only roof to walk on. This was not an easy pick.

Zone XII: Starlight Carnival

Not an easy pick, but Starlight Carnival would be a nice ending-stage before the inevitable Last Stage that I think will be an all new one.

Sonic Generations 3D:

Zone I: Green Hill Zone

It's confirmed, not much to say here really.

Zone II: Casino Night Zone

It's confirmed, not much to say here really.

Zone III: Wacky Workbench

This would be so cool in 3D. :P

Zone IV: Launch Base Zone

It's confirmed, not much to say here really.

Zone V: Sky Sanctuary Zone

Such a pretty zone, kind of the same as Angel Island on GenHD here except I want to see it with 3D depth.

Zone VI: Ice Cap

And there's our snowboard stage.

Zone VII: City Escape

I'd love to see a realistic San Fransisco-ish city enviroment entirely in 2D.

Zone VIII: Frog Forest

Secon best zone in Sonic Heroes, also gives Gen3D the jungle stage that GenHD had with Angel Island Zone.

Zone IX: Glyphic Canyon

My fav. Shadow stage, would be cool to see this in 2D.

Zone X: Crisis City

That Tornado is carrying a car in 2D! And it's super cool! Also, I think it's a stage that's nice to look at.

Zone XI: Windmill Isle

Another really pretty stage I want to see with 3D depth.

Zone XII: Asteroid Coaster

Not the pick I intended on making, but this also fits in as a second-to-last stage.

You know assuming Sega knows pretty much how we all love and want to see Chemical Plant, it wouldn't surprise me if it's inevitable reveal trailer that will capitalize on the hype will make at least as big of an "IT'S FINALLY BACK" fuss just as the Sonic Generations gameplay trailer.

I'm calling it. The E3 trailer will be a bit more encompassing and reveal Chemical Plant, as well as dropping hints for the next reveal.

Yep I wanna see a Dreamcast stage next. We've had a classic stage, now give us something more recent to chew on.

Let's see, for me personally... well. Given that the 3DS version has different stages now, that effectively doubles the chances of any one stage turning up, which is good.

If we assume one zone per game per version, I'd like to see in particular...

From the classics;

-Green Hill is a given

-Aquatic Ruin

-Hydrocity/ Icecap

-Lava Reef/ Sky Sanctuary

Of course, having both Aquatic Ruin and Hydrocity in the same version would be overkill for water stages, so each version should get one. I think Aquatic Ruin would look much nicer for the HD version.

For the modern games...

-Windy Valley, or possibly Speed Highway

-City Escape (again, pretty much a given)

After this, however, it gets a bit harder, since (in my opinion at least), from Heroes onwards, the stages get considerably less memorable and 'iconic'. But still;

I'd go for Frog Forest or Air Fleet from Heroes, I'm assuming Shadow will be skipped. Not sure if the storybook games would be included either, meaning the next main entry would be Sonic 06.

-Crisis City/ Flame Core (probably Crisis City, since Flame Core is too visually similar to Lava Reef).

Which basically just leaves Unleashed and Colours, for which I'd probably choose Spagonia/ Rooftop Run and either Planet Wisp or Aquarium Park.

Not sure if the handheld stages would be included in the 3DS version, but in all honesty I don't really feel any of those are particularly memorable or iconic enough for me to care all that much anyway.

I'm actually betting on City Escape being the big reveal.

It'd make sense. Green Hill reals in the Retro fans and City Escape'll real in the Adventure fans with pure nostaligia. Thus, creating even more hype.

I'm more hyped for Chemical Plant than City Escape, but I'd be happy with a trailer for either one, honestly.

Yeah, I'm expecting it so much I've actually said "I can't wait to see City Escape at E3" :P Jumping the gun a little, but eh.

Radical Highway could be part of the new City Escape level. Shadow's level was on the bridge, there's no real reason to separate the city and the bridge in a reimagined stage. The Shadow and Badnik toy made me realize how cool that'd be.

Have I done this yet? Oh well, might as well do it again!

My HD wishlist:

Sonic 1 - Green Hill

Sonic 2 - Chemical Plant

Sonic 3 - Ice Cap

Sonic & Knuckles - Death Egg

Sonic CD - Stardust Speedway

Sonic Adventure - Speed Highway

Sonic Adventure 2 - City Escape

Sonic Heroes - Casino Park

Sonic '06 - Kingdom Valley

Sonic Unleashed - Eggmanland

Sonic Colors - Planet Wisp

Covers a good deal of the expected tropes: tropics, factory, snow, space, city, casino, ruins/castle, Eggman-centric stage, mine. Would probably need to be presented out of order to work, as Planet Wisp is in no way a final stage. I'm hoping things are non-linear, I mean it IS time travel. Death Egg and Eggmanland would be best for last.

Now reveal more HD stages, SEGA!

Update on last nights apparently leaked list of levels:

I'm actually pretty sure the list is fake and the "reliable source" was full of shit. Looking back on it, it does look like it's based on the Jazzwares stuff, and that explains why they "didn't remember" what level the Sonic Unleashed level was.

Sorry guys, guses I was full of shit as usual. :|

Yay!

Great Broniks we could be, you and I.

Alrighty, might as well post what I think we'll be seeing, with some updates (like bosses I'd like to see, and stuff, all in spoilers just to be safe)

Sonic 1 - Green Hill [boss - Classic: Egg Ball, Modern: Giant Chomper, as seen in the waterfall segment of modern GHZ]

Sonic 2 - Chemical Plant [boss - Classic: Water Eggman, Modern: Perhaps a giant Grabber, fought in a similar style to the Egg Beetle?]

Sonic 3 - Sky Sanctuary [boss - Classic: Knuckles, Modern: Mecha/Metal Sonic in a form of race/battle, like Sonic CD]

Sonic Adventure - Twinkle Park [boss - Classic: Robotnik piloting the Egg Hornet, Modern: Chaos 0, updated to fit with the Modern gameplay]

Sonic Adventure 2 - City Escape [boss - Classic: Robotnik piloting a form of walker, to match up with the Bigfoot battle that Sonic faces at the beginning of the game, Modern: Shadow, in a similar racing battle that was seen at the end of the Heroes' story]

Sonic Heroes - Bingo Highway [boss - Classic: Robotnik in some form of Bumper car, Modern: Robot Carnival, the endurance round from the original level]

Sonic 2006 - Crisis City [boss - Classic: Silver the Hedgehog (it'd be so much more balanced in 2D, since Modern Sonic would thrash him with his speedy moves), Modern: Iblis Form 1, in a chasing sequence reminiscent of Perfect Chaos]

Sonic Unleashed - Dragon Road [boss - Classic: Robotnik piloting a robotic dragon robot, Modern: Dark Gaia Phoenix, done in daytime gameplay style]

Sonic Colors - Planet Wisp [boss - Classic: Robotnik piloting a giant drilling machine, Modern: Egg Nega Wisp

Final Stage - Egg Finale (Death Egg, but with ships from the Egg Fleet throw in) [boss: Metal Robotnik, fought in a similar style to the Giant Eggman Robo at the end of Sonic 3, Modern: Metal Robotnik, in a chasing sequence similar to the Egg Emperor Battle]

Last boss (After getting the Emeralds) Doomsday Zone, with Classic Sonic chasing Super Metal Robotnik (Metal Robotnik powered by negative Chaos Emerald energy) through space as Super Sonic, aiming the missiles he fires back at his head like in the original game, while Modern Sonic chases him through the asteroids afterwards in 3D.

I think that'd be cool if the foe was Metal Robotnik. Imagine the 2 Eggmen (or, Robotnik and Eggman) teaming up to create the ultimate evil, built for the sole purpose of eliminating Sonic, but it backfires, and Metal Robotnik sees that the true way to "eliminate" Sonic forever is to destroy his timeline from the ground up. Still though, for Classic Sonic's sake, perhaps Robotnik still sees an opportunity in this and chases Classic Sonic through the levels, thus explaining all of his appearances as a boss, and keeping his roll as pretty much the only boss character Classic Sonic squares off against, besides some battles against certain rivals.

Overall, something like this would make me very happy. Like I said, each level would have to be crammed with content, to make it feel like a true representation of the game it was selected from. Perhaps, in addition to one modern and one classic act per stage, each hedgehog could have plenty of extra missions like what was seen in Sonic Adventure 2 (collect hidden items, beat the stage in a certain amount of time, collect X rings, etc). Overall though, something like this would be a dream for me, but we'll see what happens.

To be honest, I'd gladly go with Emerald Coast as long as it looks very different from Green Hill HD. When it comes to Emerald Coast and Speed Highway, my guess is 3DS will get one and HD will get the other. B) So broniks we be.

EDIT:

About that "leaked" list, it's the exact same thing I speculated about weeks ago on these boards. I was basing it off of the action figures. Guess some nitwit took it, re-worded it and troll'd Retro and other forums with it. Ignore it.

Rethinking the stages, yeah, this sounds about right.

Green Hill - tropical greenery stage

Chemical Plant - speedway / factory stage

Ice Cap - snow and ice stage, first boarding stage

Sky Sanctuary - sky stage

Red Mountain - volcano stage

City Escape - cityscape stage, second boarding stage, possibly part Radical Hwy

Casino Park - casino / carnival / pinball stage

Kingdom Valley - water ruins stage

Arid Sands - desert canyon stage

Planet Wisp - construction site stage

Death Egg - Robotniks's base stage, possibly like Eggmanland

All these stages fill the standard Sonic tropes and are all pretty popular stages throughout the series.. Right? The reason I say this is because I highly doubt Sega would make a good many of the stages to be city-based or greenery based stages. I'm sure they would pick ones that are moderately popular, cover all the tropes to show all the kinds of environments Sonic has traversed, and go from there; rather than choose only the most popular ones, since the greenery/tropical stages and the city stages are usually always the fan favorites and thus would make a somewhat repetitive stage setup.

Not really yay for me because I actually liked that list a lot. It had my absolute favorite Sonic stage in the entire series on it.

That really wasn't a bad list or a bad selection of levels. I don't know why people were hating the idea that it might have been real.

I don't want to be rude or anything, but if SEGA really chose to inclide levels from sonic colors and unleashed, that would be retarted. Just sayin

Edit: Oh wait... *Deep sigh*

I'm relieved

I agree to an extent because the best they could do with that is just make a Classic iteration while the Modern will just feel like it's hogging up space as an expansion pack.

Unleashed levels might come in which in all honesty I hope they don't, but Colors is almost downright unreasonable because this would assume that Colors went into production before Generations and/or that the two dev teams actually had one or two levels already outlined and ready to do since adding it mid-production isn't exactly the most clever development trick.

If anything we might be seeing zones we don't get as DLC.

Wait I don't get it, so you're trying to convince yourself and me that sonic unleashed and colors stages wouldn't be a bad idea?

What improvements are you talking about, people love unleashed and it's stages the way they were. The tropes themselves would only be apropriate for classic sonic, but that would still be stupid as the level choice would only feel unique for c.sonic and be sort of a waste for better choices. Imo they should not pick any stage from unleashed and colors, I would rather have them keep the room and effort for better picks. For instance i'd be very dissapointed if we did get 1 stage from both unleashed and colors while they could've better used that room for awesome stages they decided to leave out.

Edit:Allthough i'd like to add, this counts only if we don't end up getting a lot of stages. The fake list had like 9 level tropes? Yeah it wouldn't be a good idea if that ended up being the case imo.
