What stages do you want to see in Sonic Generations?

For the PS3 one I want

Green Hill

Chemical Plant

IceCap

Flying Battery

( the Ruins level from Sonic Adventure... I forget it's name )

City Escape

Hang Castle/Mystic mansion

City Crisis

Spagonia

...That is if we only get nine stages like we are told. However I think that twelve is a good number. If we do get twelve I would also like to see G.U.N. headquarters ( forget the exact name, but you are breaking in, and you can be partners with Rouge... it has one of those little walker things in it... ) from Shadow the Hedgehog, and Dino Jungle from Secret Rings.

I think the last level should be some bizzare mash up of levels mixed into one thing... possibly not a pretty sight.

As for the 3DS version I'm still boiling over the fact that they said they only want games from recent memory and actually LAUGHED when the game gear was brought up.

I don't really know what stages I want. I have only ever played through Sonic 2 and Sonic triple trouble once. I can tell you though that I want act 3 of sunset park. I loved Sonic 1 GameGear edition to death, but it seems green hill has already covered that game... which is a Shame because I really like Bridge Zone and Jungle Zone. The rest of the gamegear games didn't seem worth anything. Anything from Sonic Advanced seems good but I'd like to see Egg Rocket Zone, but I think the carnival level is more likely. I would like the music level from Sonic Advanced 2 and the City from Sonic Advanced 3 but I don't really remember Advanced 3 that well. I really love the first level in Rush, but think that harbor level is more deserving... forget it's name. And for Rush Adventure I would like either Coral Cave or the Haunted Ship. I can't speak for Colors DS though as I haven't played it.

Secretly wishing you get to fight Metal Sonic in the Death Eggs eye and Eggman in the Hangar for a final fight... but I doubt we'll get a nod to that game...

If it's really nine zones, then I hope for...

- Sonic 1, which is already confirmed.

- Sonic CD, since it takes place before Sonic 2.

- Sonic 2, obviously.

- Sonic 3 & Knuckles, as I consider Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles one game.

- Sonic Adventure, obviously.

- Sonic Adventure 2, which is already confirmed.

- Sonic Heroes, if the recent spin-offs are any indication.

- Sonic Unleashed, which is already confirmed.

- Sonic Colors, obviously.

But where would that leave an original level? The game can't end on a Colors level, can it? Even if you modify the list in various ways, say give Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles a level for each, or get rid of Sonic CD and squeeze in Sonic 06, there still wouldn't be enough room. I'll take this information with a pinch of salt.

Please point in my direction the interview/article/press release that says the levels will be ordered by the year the game is released.

It's generally assumed they will. Colors is the last main series game to come out thus far. If there's only nine levels, and only the main series games are going to get levels, then it's safe to assume Colors will come last.

Why is it safe to assume such a thing? We have no indication that's how they'll order levels. It's a possibility, but not a guarantee.

The plot involves Sonic teaming up with his past self to get back to the present. It's assumed it's going to be a gradual process from the beginning to the end. It's also possible the plot could have the two Sonics jump to random points in time, so we'll see.

We're dealing with time holes here, guys. Freaking holes in the fabric of space and time itself! These are not going to conveniently transport Sonic and Sonic chronologically through their adventures.

Anyway, if were only getting 9 zones I'd bet it's 3 per era. So I've got some new guesses:

Zone 1: Green Hill (Gen)

Zone 2: City Escape (Dream)

Zone 3: Rooftop Run (Mod)

Zone 4: Planet Wisp (Mod)

Zone 5: Chemical Plant (Gen)

Zone 6: SA: Ice Cap (Dream)

Zone 7: Kingdom Valley (Mod)

Zone 8: Egg Fleet (Dream)

Zone 9: Death Egg (Gen)

Nine zones.... really? I guess Aaron Webber only meant the level list that was going around was fake, not the number of levels itself....

My guess?

-Green Hill (Sonic 1)

-Collision Chaos (Sonic CD)

-Chemical Plant (Sonic 2)

-Lava Reef (Sonic 3/Knuckles)

-Speed Highway (Adventure)

-City Escape (Adventure 2)

-Kingdom Valley (2006)

-Rooftop Run (Unleashed)

-Planet Wisp (Colors)

3DS version:

-Green Hill

-Casino Night

-Launch Base

-Ice Mountain (Sonic Advance)

-Music Plant (Sonic Advance 2)

-Cyber Track (Advance 3)

-Water Palace (Sonic Rush)

-Sky Babylon (Sonic Rush Adventure)

-Starlight Carnival (Sonic Colors DS)

-Special Stage (Sonic Heroes)

My guess is that this could be something like the final list, based on the polls, number of levels that have been confirmed, and the line of figures that are appearing for the console version (Classic Amy and Metal Sonic, who have only appeared in Sonic CD in a main game). However, the 3DS version has also been confirmed to have exclusive games and characters ONLY integral to the story, so certain characters like Classic Amy and Metal might get the boot.

But yeah, I chose these levels based on how much of an impact they've had on the franchise; Speed Highway had the building running sequence and Collision Chaos had Amy getting captured by Metal Sonic for the first time, for example; they also each fit a certain unique motif. I was also trying to be realistic about what we'll probably be seeing over what I'd personally LIKE to see. Also, I'm guessing each level will have 3 acts per 'hog, but 3 acts also can give the developers a lot of creative freedom; take City Escape, for example. For Modern Sonic, what if (after the act with the truck) you explore other parts of the city? Some parts that, let's say, resemble other city levels from past Sonic games, like Skyscraper Scamper? Or for Classic Sonic, what if there's other acts that don't focus on the truck and more on exploring the more city-like parts of the area? Or for Lava Reef, the first 2 acts can play similarly to the classic acts, but what if a new act resembles Hydrocity, with it's water segments and ruins? I mean, it's called Lava Reef, and reefs are by definition a strip or ridge of rocks, sand, or coral that rises to or near the surface of a body of water. Plus, it'd be a great way to take advantage of the elemental shield gimmick from Sonic 3.

Also, Heroes very well might not be in the console version if it's getting represented in 3DS (even in the form of a special stage), for a few reasons. For one, the game introduced no new characters (technically, Cream was introduced in Advanced 2 and Sonic Adventure DX before Heroes, and the Chaotix existed in the Sonic mythos long before Heroes gave them a fresh coat of paint). All the other games on the list have introduced major characters to the franchise: Sonic 2 had Tails, Sonic CD had Amy and Metal Sonic, Sonic 3/Knuckles had Knuckles, Adventure had Big and Cream (I guess), Adventure 2 had Shadow and Rouge, 2006 had Silver (and perhaps Blaze, since it was her only roll in a main Sonic game), and yes, Unleashed and Colors have Chip and the Wisps, respectively (didn't Chip get his own Sonic Channel artwork, just like other well-known characters?). That's almost all the main players in the Sonic cast, sans the Chaotix and maybe the Babylon Rogues. And hell, even Fang and the gang of forgotten fan-favorites make cameos; what more could you want? Plus, Heroes got ALL the love in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, while nothing else appeared. So payback's a bitch. B)

I'm also guessing each version will definitely have it's own gimmicks, like how City Escape had the skateboard power-up: Sonic 3 will probably have elemental shields, while Sonic CD could involve time-travel, or Sonic Colors would have a few of the Wisps as a form of power-up. Heck, maybe the Werehog will be a temporary power-up in Rooftop Run, in the style of the Beserker Wisp. In addition to gimmicks like that for each level, I'm guessing for Classic Sonic, the invincible and speed-shoes music will vary from level-to-level. For example, in Sonic 1 and 2, the invincible theme could be the theme for those games, like we all remember. However, say for Sonic Adventure 2, the theme of invincibility would be a classic version of the theme used in that game. I think that'd be really cool, and definitely give each level a feeling of really representing the game it's from.

We might also very well see a unique final level for the game, but if that's the case, I do want something truly unique. Perhaps the level can take quick snip-its from various final levels as you progress through (Death Egg, Final Egg, and Eggmanland; one from each era. Or for the 3DS version, before warping you to a strange, End-of-the-World-style area showcasing the chaos the time/space anomalies are causing the world. That'd be cool, in my opinion, and like Eggmanland or Terminal Velocity, one long act per hedgehog is all you need, as it sometimes can add to weight of the final level in my opinion.

I just hope SEGA really gives each area a lot of meat, and makes it feel like it's representing the game it's from. I also hope that for the console version, we at LEAST see 4 classic levels; those Classic levels are the ones that need to be remade in 3D the most, since this game is the perfect chance to finally see them remade in glorious HD and, in Modern Sonic's case, 3D. Don't let us down, SEGA.

Check out the assets topic. First screenshots of Rooftop Run AND first screens of a different zone. Peek at your own risk.

I peeked and died because I just spoiled 4 out of the supposed 9 stages in the game. :( Never doing that again.

Sorry dude D: Dammit, I'll spoiler tag that shit up >.>

Honestly, I don't mind; Ocean Palace was a cool level, with great music. And the way they're remaking it makes it look very unique and solid as a ruins-style level. I just hope the NEXT 5 levels are what I put on my list. Seriously, I REALLY don't want the list Trunks trolled on us.

Any idea how credible that source is, though? I won't buy it until there's official confirmation. :|a

Though if that is true...

- Sonic 1

- Sonic 2

- Sonic 3

- Sonic & Knuckles

- Sonic Adventure

- Sonic Adventure 2

- Heroes

- 06

- Unleashed?

I still think we'll have at least 12 stages, though.

Sorry dude but i think is more like:

- Sonic 1

- Sonic 2

- Sonic 3 & Knuckles

- Sonic Adventure

- Sonic Adventure 2

- Heroes

- 06

- Unleashed

- Colo(u)rs

Hm, for stages I predict we'll have:

ERA 1

-Sonic 1

-Sonic 2

-Sonic 3 & Knuckles

ERA 2

-Sonic Advance

-Sonic Advance 2

-Sonic Advance 3

ERA 4

-Sonic Rush

-Sonic Rush Adventure

-Sonic Colors

Kind of like the three era, three stage thing in the main game.

I'm fine with the list that was leaked. There is one change I want to make to my list though.

Collision Chaos for Sonic CD instead of Stardust Speedway. Honestly, Stardust Speedway isn't really that good aside from the Metal Sonic race. Collision Chaos, on the other hand, is actually a good stage and would be more deserving than Stardust Speedway.

But if that leaked list is anything to go by...

Neither stage will be in the game, as Sonic CD is not represented in the game other than with Metal Sonic's inclusion as a boss.

Just so you know, I am ignoring this supposed leak. I do not want to know, so I'm just going to treat this topic the way it originally intended, alright? I would also like to ask you to put anything leak-related into spoiler tags. Please?

Chemical Plant Zone- This was a perfect Sonic level. Not only is it one of the fastest, it has some memorable platforming.

Casino Night- I don't know why I'm bothering with this one, I already know it's a 3DS exclusive. But maybe as future DLC? (The pinball thing doesn't count!)

Spring Yard Zone- I luuuuuuuuuv the music in that stage, and I'm curious to see what it would look like in the 3D portions.

Metropolis Zone- Okay, I just really like the music in this stage. The enemy placement is annoying and every now and then the level design gets confusing, but I'd be interested is seeing it tweaked and polished up.

Speed Highway- See Chemical Plant Zone.

Pumpkin Hill- NOT as a treasure hunting stage, obviously. But the setting is unique and the music, horribly cheesy as it is, is at least memorable.

Music Plant Zone- Now this was just a fantastic concept, and really Sonic Advance 2 didn't really represent either of these gameplay styles. We haven't seen it in platforming-oriented Genesis-style 2D and we sure as hell haven't seen it in 3D. (Modern Sonic's 2D sections would be similar, but that's a very small portion of the game) This would be one of my top picks.

Emerald Beach- For the orca chase, if nothing else. I don't know if we really need two Green Hill-style levels in here, though.

Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace- It has the same problem as above, but this was the first time a modern Sonic level managed to make me feel like I was playing a Genesis level in 3D. I'm not saying the the Sonic Adventure games were bad, just that this was the first time they completely nailed the nostalgia.

Dinosaur Jungle- It has dinosaurs, people! Dinosaurs!

I'd kind of like to say Sweet Sweet Mountain or Aquatic Park, but we JUST saw those levels. I love them, but maybe it's too soon?

For anyone that is posting in here with respect of other members, I thank you. Not everyone wants to be spoiled by what was shown on the list in that demo hack/leak topic. 'Specially not here since it is all about level speculation.

Guess I'll give my opinions about the crap 3DS version.

Sonic 1: GHZ is a given.

Sonic 2: That casino stage.

Sonic 3&k: Well I'm making this one since it is basically one game just split in to. ICE CAP, Lava reef

I'll skip the advance games since I don't remember any of the levels.

Sonic Rush: SKipping because I skipped this game.

Sonic Rush adventure: Well anything from here. I liked most of the levels that I played.....multiple times.

Sonic Colours: Sweet mountain. C'mon, we all want to play on a stage that is based off of random deserts right?

And since it seems like the HD versions won't be getting it, unless DLC happens later on I'd love to see it have some love somewhere.

Sonic 4: Yes it is part of his past even though most of the stages were just remakes. Mad gear or Lost Labyrinth would be my idea choices. Both were good stages and I'd love to see some more love for LL. HD or not.

  • 4 weeks later...

Seeing as the other topic got locked, here's what I would have picked:

1. Green Hill Zone-(Sonic the Hedgehog)

2. Ice Cap Zone (Sonic 3)

3. Lava Reef Zone (Sonic and Knuckles)

4. Lost World (Sonic Adventure)

5. City Escape (Sonic Adventure 2)

6. Egg Fleet (Sonic Heroes)

7. Jungle Joyride-(Sonic Unleashed)

8. Casino Street (Sonic 4: Episode 1)

I was originally going to have Casino Night Zone, but then I realized that Casino Street was a combo of Spring Yard, Casino Night, and Carnival Night.

9. Planet Wisp-(Sonic Colors)

What I would had chose for Generations (with keeping the game so that it has still has zones from each game, with _ acts)

*: Officially confirmed by Sega or other magazines

Sonic 1: Green Hill*

Sonic CD: Stardust Speedway* (still not sure if it actually has it's own acts and isn't just a boss act attached to the Sonic 2 zone, but I'[m just putting this here just to be safe)

Sonic 2: Chemical Plant*

Sonic 3: Icecap or Hydrocity

Sonic &K: Flying Battery or Sky Sanctuary

Sonic A1: Lost World

Sonic A2: City Escape*

Sonic He: Bingo Highway

Sonic 06: Crisis City (although I still don't understand how this would be possible)

Sonic Un: Eggmanland

Sonic 4E1 (It's possible!): Lost Labyrinth

Sonic Col: Planet Wisp or Sweet Mountain

Remember how in Unleashed (apart from the obvious Werehog stages), some acts took place at different times of the day? Including DLC there was Savannah Citadel, Rooftop Run, Cool Edge and Windmill Isle. It'd be great if they added some fo that to Generations. It'd really represent Rooftop Run and Speed Highway well.

Damn straight. That i want too.

Come on Sonic team don't fail me. I am 99,9% sure they will release DLC. Hell they even released DLC for Sonic 06.
