What's Your #1 3d Level

My vote has to go to Cool Edge Day Act 1-1, simply put, it adds 1 or 2 small gimmicks to make the level stand out among the others. The slippery ice made it harder to turn (making him even more slippery you could say). Then we have the sled, which is cool, but I'm a little mad about it disabling the boost in the 360 version, but then again, I never really cared about the boost in the first place. The cave part, as said was awesome, running for your life, dodge huge chunks of ice falling to the ground, but the running on water part right after than :o is just plain breathtaking, watching ice-bergs crumble into the water as you zip by knocking out enemies on small slivers of land. Also this is probably the first Sonic level I played where a the whale doesn't try and kill you.

HOOOMAAAHHHHAGAAAAAHHAHHD!

You, sir, just provoked me to post in the best topic ever. Now, since I've only played the 3D Games, this is really a must for me to do. Well, the first 3D Sonic Game that I've ever played was SA2, whenever I'd come to my friend's house just for that reason. Heck, that was one thing we had in common. The interest in Sonic. And that continued to build our friendship until he left our school in the 5th Grade, for the States.

Classic fanboys, don't mind me whenever I call a level a Zone, okay? And if you don't think they're Zones, well I do, okay? Okay. Let's just get on with the best Zones ever created by Sonic Team.

Well, my first Zone was City Escape, and man, that was just as intense as fuck! I really liked the opening cutscene when Sonic skated down SanFo. "Talk about low-budget flights! No food or movies? I'm outta here! I like running better!" That's practically why I loved City Escape. The first true taste of Sonic speed for me was one of the best ones I've ever had. And the first time I played a game with Sonic in it? Heh, that was Sonic 4 that I kept playing!

Next Zone I loved the most, was Radical Highway. Maybe its because that was the first time I ever played Shadow on SA2. The city was dark, and everything seemed so rollercoaster-esque. Heck, my favorite part of the stage was the hollow column where all of those springs are! Maybe Radical Highway's music was also why I liked Shadow so much. Darker, and possibly gritter than all of the Sonic installments, especially his debatable background.

I don't think I've seen this one on anyone's lists yet...

Sand Oasis from Secret Rings is THE best. I like the level's theme and design, it's fun to play, and the music is awesome. 'Nuff said.

Hum... Really difficult question.

I think I don't have a number 1 but my favourite levels are in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 so maybe City Escape for the direct in action concept (and the awesome music) and Sky Deck 'cause running on the top of the truly awesome Egg Carrier is an experience I haven't felt in other Sonic game.

It's hard to pick just one "favorite". There's plenty of levels that I like, but none really stand out beyond all the others...

I guess, if I'm going to say something, I'll go with SA's Windy Valley.

I'll go with Windy Valley too, but I'll go for it whole-hearted. Because Windy Valley is all: "OH SWEET JESUS I'M INSIDE A TORNADO WHAAAAAAAAA!!", followed by "Z0MG MASSIVE WINDING LEVEL ABOVE THE CLOUDS AWESOME!!"

I just wish my Dreamcast still worked... *sniff*

Yep, I'm gonna have to go with City Escape. For me, that's just been the best opening level to a Sonic game.

I know this post isn't adding much, but I'd just be repeating others, really. D=

Hmmmmm This is a toughie.

Let me see, first my favorites......

Red Mountain, Wind Valley, Emerald Coast, Speed Highway, City Escape, Radical Highway, Final Rush, Apotos Act 2, Spagonia Act 1, Slag.... Hm....

I guess I'm going to go with Apotos for being the first level since Emerald Coast to absolutely wow me to epic proportions. It rendered me incapable of playing any other 3D game for about 3 weeks because it was just so awesome.

Hmm, this is really hard for me. Sonic Adventure 1, 2, and 2006 all have some very great levels. However, I'll have to go with Final Egg (Sonic) from Sonic Adventure.

That level has everything. It's got plenty of platforming, tons of homing-attack goodness, a good rush of speed when it's needed, and probably the single best level theme in the game (the theme from the first half of the level, though the second song in the level is also great). Until Eggmanland in Sonic Unleashed, it was also the best 3D interpretation of an Eggman base and suitably insane. It's just a perfect level from start to finish, in my opinion.

My second favourite is an easier pick: Cosmic Wall from Sonic Adventure 2. I hated that level when I was younger, and only now do I appreciate it's awesome platforming action.

Picking one wouldn't be possible for me. There's a lot to love in these Zones.

If I had to pick, though, mine would have to be a tie between Sky Troops from Shadow (if only for the music) and Final Egg from Adventure 1 (the length and music owns all).

Metal freaking Harbor

The music is just GREAT, and it's not too easy or hard. Also, the higher spring on the rocket kept me playing that stage for hours, until I noticed the GUN robots next to the first spring.

My one complaint: WAY too short.

Ah, Metal Harbor is just awesome.

It strikes me though, Metal Harbor's music in particular, even though it doesn't, sounds like it would have had lyrics. I'm not sure why, it just sounds that way.

I think my number 1 3D stage would have to be Emerald Coast when you are playing as Sonic. It has some really cool looking 3D effects and the music goes really well with the level.

City Escape, since I like city areas and the area is very San Fransisco like. The mountain view in the background is beautiful and the music really fits the area.

I really hate to list but it's too hard to just pick one:

Dry Lagoon-Again, a really fun level, good music and the visuals are nice.

Circus Park-Also a fun level, I like the setting and the visuals for this one too.

Cannon's Core-All characters working as a team in one giant level, can't get much better than that and the music is awsome too.

Cosmic Wall-The first level I ever got an A rank on so yeah, it chuffed me to bits!

Think I'm finally done lol.

I liked most of sonic adventure 2 stages they had the perfect mix between speed and platforming. But my fav level is Final Fortress from sonic heroes. It had the perfect atmosphere for the ocasion, the weather, the music, those fucking giant robots with a helmet...It really felt like the final battle. I also liked eggmanland(wii version) as it was the only challenging level in the whole wii version

Nice choice. I've always found this one to be one of the most beautiful in SA2. Those butterflies add a nice touch, the textures are so rich in detail with those glyphics. And I love the way the sun shines on you as you climb the tower near the lake.

I'd have to say my all-time favorite is Apotos Act 2 (Day) in Sonic Unleashed. It's just a great, memorable level (mainly because of how beautiful it is. Plus, the music is incredible, I can't get enough of that song).

I'd have to go with Rooftop Run Day Act 1 of the PS3 version of Unleashed.

The stage's design, music, atmosphere, and length is perfect for any type of mood that I'm in. It can satisfy me when I'm intense or relaxed. Whether I want to do a speed run, explore, take my time, glitch hunt, or just do a normal run, this stage stands out as ideal. And to top it off, it was highly memorable. I don't think I'll ever forget the first time I saw the "High Europe" trailer or my first run through the stage.

Widmill Isle Act 2 (PS3 as well) would be the runner up for basically the same reasons as RRD Act 1. But it's a bit too short and soothing to truly captivate me when I'm on the edge.

Man...I dunno. There's so many fantastic stages to choose from. Emerald Coast has that nostalgic feel, and it WAS the first real 3D Sonic stage. There's City Escape and Final Rush from SA2, or Egg Fleet from Sonic Heroes. Hell, even Crisis City was a pretty insane level. But my all-time favorite has to be...

Jungle Joyride (Act 1) from Sonic Unleashed (360)! Man, I love this stage. Why? Well, it's a fusion of a bunch of my favorite stage stereotypes in Sonic games: beach stages, tropical stages, and ancient ruins stages. It's also got some great 2D sections, and almost everything that makes a kickass Sonic level for me: insane loops, quick reflex sections, getting chased by or chasing robots at insane speeds, running on water, grinding at insane levels, jumping from platform to platform above the sky, and even some platforming, including block pushing from the original Sonic 1. Not to mention the stage itself is stunning to behold, and it's friggin' robust! I'm STILL finding new routes, and it's long! Even when holding down the Sonic boost 90% of the time, it took me almost 5 minutes to complete. The level music is also pretty catchy, though it's not my favorite. Hell, the only problem with it for me is really the lag, and most of it is solved with the patch that came out recently. It's just...just...damn! XD

Dude if there was a way to quote this without actually saying I sure as hell would've done it. This guy summed up everything I wanted to say about this stage. My version....DAMN! *walks away*

City Escape, for much the same reasons that others have stated: The intro, the city atmosphere, snowboarding down the street and destroying cars, the chase scene with the truck-it was just really fun. The gameplay was also enjoyable and the music was awesome too. Overall, it just did everything right.

Final Rush was mentioned once here. I'm gonna say without a doubt this level is my favorite, because of the twisting routes, and the danger involved in pulling off some of the more awesome tricks you can do in this level. From freefall shortcuts to extremely risky jumps and homing chains, the name really suits the level. It's a rush. Using the vertical rails to get extra air also so much fun. It's mostly grind rails, yes. But that's the point of the level, because grind rails were new in SA2. So they throw this all-rails level theme in your face. Grinding on rails. In space. What else can you ask for? It's also one of the few 3D levels to capture the space level vibe correctly for me. It felt more like the Death Egg or Electric Egg zones from previous games, but in its own modern way. The blue shades and the planet below really helped that for me. It just has a sense of danger a last level should have. Outside the Adventure series, Night Palace is my favorite for variety and visuals. I haven't included levels from Unleashed here though.

everything except Casino stage in SA1 but especially Sky Deck, because SA1 is absolutely glorious in it's slight nonlinearity and fanatic level concepts.

Only Green Hill in SA2 because the rest suck ass. Run straight forward while listening to cock rock, LOL AWESOME. GRIND RAILS WOO AWESOME HOLY SHIT I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING BUT THIS IS AWESOME (not even counting the horrid designs outside of the speed stages

City Escape from SA2! It feels extremely fast letting you skate down the city street on a board-plank thing, run down buildings, and be chased by giant truck!
