Your favorite Senoue/Ohtani Sonic OST ?

Ok so nowadays we have 2 Main Sonic Composers: Jun Senoue & Tomoya Ohtani.

In your opinion what's the Nº 1 Sonic OST for each of them(Also tell your favorite track via youtube)?

In case you need a list here it is:

Jun Senoue:

Sonic 3D Blast(Genesis Version)

Sonic Adventure

Sonic Adventure 2

Sonic Heroes

Shadow the Hedgehog

Sonic and the Black Knight

Sonic 4 Episode 1

Tomoya Ohtani:

Sonic the Hedgehog(2006)

Sonic Unleashed

Sonic Colors(with Kenichi Tokoi as producer but come on,it's clearly an Ohtani OST)

Here are my favorites:

Jun Senoue's Sonic Heroes: I love this OST.It's my favorite Sonic OST.It's the only one in which i like all the Vocal Songs(Yes,even "We Can") and manages to combine that cheerful style of the classics with Jun's awesome rock.

Favorite track:

Tomoya Ohtani's Sonic Colors: Wow.And i thought his Unleashed Score was great. From the absolutely epic main orchestral theme to the cool 8-bit tunes in the Sonic Simulator(Why not 16-bit,wouldn't that be more appropriate since Sonic started in the 16-bit era?) this is a delightful OST.The only thing that kept it from being perfect in my opinion were the Vocal Songs, which i hated.

So what are your favorites?

It's hard choosing.

But I'll go with Sonic Adventure 2.

DAMN THIS IS HARD......man I really can't think I love almost all of Jun Senoue's and Tomoya Ohtani's music but for Jun it's Sonic 3D Blast/ Sonic Adventure and Heroes and for Tomoya's has to be 2006 some parts of Unleashed and Colours <3

Hmmmm...with Senoune it's definitly Adventure 1 or 2. Hard to choose a favourite really...I like the songs tough that have a very summery vibe. Like Metal Habor or "Let's make it".

Ohtani, he delivers atmospheric music fitting with enviorment, that is neither campy, too much in one direction or predictable,it's perfect. The Calm Music music(Hubworld Unleashed) and adrenaline pumping tracks are great.Rush Advneture,Unleashed and Colors are the best modern soundtracks IMO.

Sonic Adventure. Next to Sonic 2 and 3/Knuckles, no other Sonic sountrack can take me back just like it. From the smooth, glistening guitar riffs from Emerald Coast, to the jazzy beats from Casinopolis, to the techno funk from Final Egg.... it's just so masterful! Man, I'd go so far as to say it's one of the best OSTs in gaming.

For Ohtani, I guess it's a tie with 2006 and Colors. For Sonic 2006, even though I loathe the game to death now, I still enjoy the soundtrack quite a bit. It doesn't capture the magic of the previous soundtracks I mentioned, but the music is big, epic, and covers a variety of genres, with each attempt sounding really good, and it DOES have that "Sonic" quality to it, which can't be said for the soundtrack of Unleashed. Same story with Colors, though replace the word "epic" with "upbeat". It's just so much fun to listen to, and it immersed me into the game more so than any Sonic soundtrack did since Sonic Heroes, and I thought that was Senoue's best, next to Adventure.

...don't see why people like 06 Soundtrack so much. It matched the scenery, which is why it's so boring and mediocore to me.

What? Explain in Detail.

How can these not have a "Sonic" Quality to them?

I second that.

Srs post is srs:

Jun - Sonic Adventure 2 probably. Sonic and the Black Knight is a close second, but SA2's nostalgia, combined with SatBK's handful of bizarrely repetitive 30 second long tracks makes SA2 win over.

Ohtani - Unleashed, but Colours and 2006 are close for sure. This guy generally has a pretty amazingly consistant quality to his work.

Oh, in addition to my annoying Secret Rings shoehorning:

Naofumi - Sonic 2 8-bit 8D Heeee <3

For Ohtani, and overall-- Unleashed. No contest.

<333

More night music than day. Probably sacrilegious, but it's the smoother jazz themes are listenable on a more consistent basis to me. They work better as film or even standalone songs without the context that they're merely BGMs for a video game. Just all around gorgeous pieces. The same basically applies to my favorite 06 songs: Wave Ocean- The Water's Edge, Kingdom Valley, and especially http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfZsJ9lz7sw. Holy Hell, Aquatic Base.

Oh fo' sho. I have SUCH a musical fetish for "sad songs", especially for action type stuff to generate instant epicness. Aquatic Base was a pretty meh final stage, but this tune makes it worth playing. Act 6 (Amy's section) of End Of The World (and the built-up Act 7 Shadow variant after) was also pretty amazing.

Lost Impact in Shadow was also awesome (and it bugs me endlessly that ShTH doesn't have a detailed artists-by-the-track list anywhere, since I'll never know which of Sonic Team's talented composers made it), though admittedly that really was a "sad" level.

I'm pretty sure that Ohtani was just a composer in Colours, while Kenichi Tokoi produced it... Still, it's my favourite out of the three you've listed, with Unleashed coming in second... Don't like 06's that much, found it quite bland.

As for Senoue, SA1 by far. That soundtrack is simply beautiful. Emerald Coast brings a tear to my eye every time I listen to it. Puts me in such a good place. <3
