Anyone out there with shameful Sonic-related secrets?

I said earlier that a shameful secret of mine was thinking Mystic Cave Zone was a forest, but I was just looking at Sonic 2's manual and it seems SoA and SoE thought the same:

Robotnik's been digging for Chaos Emeralds in this eerie forest of flickering lights, glow-worms and stinging centipedes. Hang on to the ivy to discover escape routes.

Huh? I thought that it was set underground because of what appear to be tracks in the background but I thought that the green bits were leaves/foliage?

Are the green bits foliage? Or are they supposed to be mineral/rocky structures? They look suspiciously similar to Malachite (A Copper ore) come to think of it.

Those "secrets" are so tame and boring....I got a good one (its true too):

Rouge the Bat was my imaginary sex friend...I was 8 years old.

So I've been arguing over myself for a while now, and I've finally said fuck it and decided to tell the tales about my own troubles.

First, I'd like to get the most shameful thing out of the way first. I'm going to skip the cryptic descriptions and get straight to the point. I have never been proud of this, and many times I have refused to believe I could have been such a lowlife, but... *sigh* Well... here goes nothing.

I like crack pairings.

A lot.

And I have no idea why.

Yeah.

I... I... I don't know why... I wish I did, but I don't. I mean, it's very strange, because I still don't consider myself a "Sonic Pairing" person despite liking so many. Aside from one or two exceptions, I don't care much about the "common" pairings (despite instances like in Sonic X, I refuse to call them "official"). I think it began one night, in the days when Advance 3 had came out (it was in 2004/2005 anyways), and I was a younger goon that read too much fanfiction back then (nowadays I only ever read ones that sound like legitimate or just cool-sounding Sonic games/stories, or ones involving the aforementioned crack couples for my own amusement), and me, being curious, once found and read a Tails and Rou-err I mean, a story that happened to spark one's interest. Suffice to say, it all went very, very downhill from there.

However, the ones I like are... different from the kind that, say, SMS and Pur like. Mainly the fact that most of them are straight (not that I have anything against Yaoi/Yuri, it just doesn't show up much when it comes to my own guilty pleasures). Still doesn't make them any less retarded though.

Before I get hit with baseball bats and get spat on with pre-planned speeches about me being a miserable pile of secrets, I foolishly like to think I can defend such tragic thoughts with various reasons:

1. Unlike lots of guys/girls that think the same, I know they'll never happen, and am even thankful they'll never happen, because obviously it would mess things up (even more).

2. Despite accepting my fate, I'm still smart enough to know that things like that shouldn't plague the series no matter how insane/"sensible" they are, because falling in love pales in comparison to messing up Badniks and finding out what Robotnik's up to.

So yeah. That's the biggest thing I can't look at myself in the mirror for. But there's also a few others.

As with almost every single Sonic fan to ever exist... I had fancharacters. And I still have fancharacters. Different ones, mind you, but still.

The past ones were far from being hedgehog/echidna fusions or any of the usual shit you see, but I eliminated them all when I finally realised them for the abomninations they were. The ones I have now, I like to think are tons better, what with having strengths/weaknesses/unique personalities/simplistic designs (overdone Final Fantasy-esque designs are what doom a lot of fancharacters IMO, most Sonic characters are streamlined).

I didn't mind the first part of Sonic X, it was alright. It was when the Adventure/Battle adaptations and Metarex Sagas came into the picture that I began not liking it as much.

Aside from one or two, I don't hate many of Sonic's so-called "shitty friends", and tend to be sad when I hear that term or some other "How To Revive Sonic" lists that involve killing everyone. At the risk of sounding very sappy, I have a knack for getting attached to characters very easily, especially Sonic/Mario characters, regardless of how old or new they are. Things like Sonic Shorts only make me enjoy them more.

And finally, as many know, I hang out in the SEGA Forums. And that's terrible.

I consider Sonic Colors to be better than the adventure series, and worst of all I was a member of the sega forums.

-I have a fan character. I guess that's pretty shameful. (See below)

-I'm in the process of writing a fan fiction based loosely on Sonic Chronicles which features said fan character.

-I watched Sonic Underground for Manic

-Despite all the hate he left in his wake, I totally friend'd Jason Griffith on Facebook.

-I freaking love Zero Gravity. I hated the first Riders game but I thought the slip stream gimmick was a good idea.

- I like the Werehog. He's cute and amusing and I like the way he runs. I'm actually shocked that so many people are also admitting to this.

-At some point in the past I got into the most retarded argument I have ever had in the name of Sonic. WHERE do I begin. Remember that guy who basically LIED, saying he was going to remake SatAM. Well there were some girls on this SatAM forum (which I stupidly joined for this one reason) saying that Mina Mongoose should be added to the cast. Me and one other guy refuted this idea. We refuted a lot of other ideas but this was the main one. SEVERAL PAGES of idiocy, retardation, and internet srs business later, the thread finally gets closed. I felt so ashamed of myself. It wasn't worth it. Especially since the SatAM revival was just a lie.

I don't have any secret crushes or anything (I am strange when it comes to love I know, and I don't enjoy porn. I prefer more intimate stuff that watching others do it). The type of things that embarrass me from my past are in a different light.

-In my drama class in my senior year of High School, we had to choose a music track and compose an original dance to it. I chose "Dreams of an Absolution" and prepared my dance in a week, and preformed it in front of the whole class and some other participants. I got an A but the thought of me doing that now embarrasses me for some reason.

-Sometimes when talking to people and helping them (something I do a lot in my spare time) I may throw in a Sonic quote if I feel it fits the situation. (yes, I am guilty of telling a friend who was crying, "Just smile.")

-I used to write up ideas for Sonic-styled games all the time and sketch out ways that stages or enemies should look and layouts and everything. I spent a lot of free time in school doing this.

-I used to talk about things I learned through a friend of my dad's (who worked on strategy guides) I wasn't supposed to. Also in my excitement I added "details" to make them sound more exciting. I was young.

-I am indefinitely a Sonic nerd, I sometimes feel embarrassed being able to discuss very obscure things and facts from the series and my sometimes almost encyclopedic-like knowledge of the franchise. XD;

-I loved Sonic X and thought Chris was a pretty O.K. character, not my favorite, but I definitely didn't hate him and could understand his troubles. Maybe because I'm the caring type and help people in my spare time, so I am easily empathetic...

-I love the Archie Sonic comics, especially the direction the series has taken in recent years.

Not shameful, but I still get very excited for Sonic releases.

I'll ask it now to get it out of the way... which fangame?

Was it simply a crap fangame? Or perhaps it was one that was, *ahem*, "unfitting"?

EDIT: Speaking of fangames, though I never have and never will be a SonicXTails fan, I did like Eggman Hates Furries, although most of it amounted to Robotnik being a gigantic badass in the game.

You probably haven't heard of it.....Sonic Epoch: The F****** Game. And it's......it's......it's......(slow facepalm) just wrong on so many levels.

EDIT: Hmmm how do I sum this game up.....

Sonic the Hedgehog (1991 game) + Platformer Hell difficulty + posslble racist themes + SatAM cutscenes + Shadow the Hedgehog (game) + cutscenes possbly made by Sonic Passion members (worst part) = this fangame.

-_-

I also think this game may have strongly contributed to my despisal of Amy Rose and the Sonamy pairing years ago as well.

...I've heard the name "Sonic Epoch" before. But I didn't know it would be like, well, what you described.

But how? Please elaborate on how you were first manipulated into trying this shoddy and likely Sonic Passion-approved game! It's okay to share! Well, you can't go more lower than me anyway.

Oh, that's the game?

Huh. Well I had read a description of it once... but all it mentioned was it being set in the SatAM world with Robotnik coming "closer to winning". There was mysteriously little input about everything else in this seemingly innocent fangame.

@postabove Sonic Epoch Advance, isn't the game I'm talking about.

Anyway, I was at some website that had a bunch of online Sonic games (some official like the Shadow the Hedgehog minigame and Heroes puzzles, and others that apparently were around the web like quizzes and stuff).

*checks Favorites folder* Wow...I still have a link to the site......and the website is still up....and the game is still there. >_<

I was just browsing through the games when I came across the game. Apparently it looked a bit like a classic Sonic game. Not to mention that it said Sonic could use a shotgun. So I clicked on the link, and the game started up (now checking the description of the game, it has a seizure title screen or something like that).

The game doesn't really control like a Sonic game, I think. The enemies I'm pretty sure can kill you easily, and they were all clown faces. Some of them were even like REALLY huge, thus resulting into cheap deaths. The platforms were also kinda hard The zones are also have some wierd (and kinda racist name)....it was called Jewyrainsomethinglikethat Zone. And yeah, the game let Sonic use a shotgun to kill them....actually, I think that's the only way you CAN kill them.

But like I said earlier, the cutscenes and plot are the WORST thing of the game. Apparently Amy is kidnapped by the stupid clown faces I mentioned earlier in the game and Sonic of course has to go save her. There's one pointless cutscene of Robotnik's sidekick from SatAM turning his chair back and forth, and I can't rememer any other cutscenes. But the ones with Amy in them are the worst.

And then after you beat the boss, you're entitled to seeing Sonic's reward to saving Amy.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I can post what's in the cutscenes here (in text) w/o getting in trouble.

Hmm. Sounds like Shadow the Hedgehog 2: Clown Face Edition Feat. Snively Having a Wonderful Time... With Amy Hatred Guaranteed.

On another note, the fact that this game had made you dislike Amy made me laugh at your Amy avatar.

Yeah...I played the game years ago.

And I'll just come out with the cutscenes as brief and as the least offensive as I can.

Amy does nothing but gives the player "a full moon" (IYKWIM) each time she appears...excluding the last scene, where the player gets to see Sonic apparently get laid by her (I'll admit, I covered my eyes during the entire time until it was over).

@Anti-Amy people Say what you want about her pantie shots, but I would rather sit through a bunch of them instead of going through that fangame again.

Yeah, I said it. Shots of Amy's panties >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sonic Epoch: The ******* Game.

Oh, right. That's pretty poor. And people say Rouge is bad.

Well at least you admitted your shame, as I did with my own.

I saw a game like that (Actually just the name and description) on newgrounds once. I was searching for fangames, Saw that title and thought "Hell no, I'm not even touching that." I pretty much quit looking for stuff on Newgrounds after that. Oh, And one time like a noob I decided to search Imageshack for sonic stuff... Cannot unsee.

Anyway, I forgot to mention earlier that I actually like Sonic R for some reason. Even thought it has limited track selection, unbalanced characters and clunky controls I still have fun with it. Probably just nostalgia from when I played it as a kid.

I like Sonic R too. Team Metal Sonic FTW!
