Anyone out there with shameful Sonic-related secrets?

You know, I actually wonder if all the Grimderp fanfics are actually entry level for people who move on to bigger and better ones. Because, boy, I used to like some stinkers back when I first started reading. Then I got to stuff like Rising Star and it's like, "Holy crap, everything else before was a lie, this takes a crap on all that".

I used to like reading grimdark fanfics of Sonic back when I first got into the series. Remember one in particular where Tails got his tails stuck in a garbage disposal unit and errr...yeah. o__o

Another is that I really liked the Knuckles the echidna comics, but that was mostly because of the epic artwork on the front covers lol. The actual story I TRIED to like but it was so boring and complicated I gave up. Thanks Pendurrs.

Oh, almost forgot. I used to like Sonic Heroes a lot when I first played it. Of course that opinion changed when I replayed it after playing other Sonic games. XD

I feel as if I'm going to be judged like crazy if anyone reads this, but I got a Rouge plushie that I still take to bed with me like a small child would. Even better is the fact that instead of wondering what I'm going to do with it when I go to college, I'm trying to figure out how I can sneak it in with me with as little attention from my roomates as possible.

It may sound juvenile or crazy or whatever, but I like all of my plushies and I just grew to be pretty attached to this one in particular. I have a lot of trouble with other people, especially in real life, and this kinda thing is pretty important to someone like me. Haters gonna hate, potaters gonna potate. I'll wake up in the morning wishing I never said this, but there's my shameful Sanic related secret.

Thank goodness for anonymity, that way I don't have to embarressed!

I will claim that Sonic actually saved my life. Age 9-13 I was undergoing an extreme amount of emotional pressure from my family getting divorced. This wasn't a normal situation though, I had lies from my parents coming from left and right and I didn't know what to believe in, OR WHAT TO LIVE FOR. I became so depressed I gained some 150 pounds and I lost all efforts to develop social skills with kids my age. Basically I went to school, got angry, frustrated, and confused at school, and went home and got angry, frustrated, and confused with myself. This went on for so long that school counselors were having meetings with me and asking me if I wanted to die.

I gave no answer.

Eventually while surfing the interwebs I came across things like NewGrounds and sites like this one, and one way or another I got hooked into the fan base. I don't know why I did this, or why I still do, but I had crazy extremely elaborate lucid dreams about being a hedgehog just like Sonic, and just enjoying the freedom of not living in my world. The depth of my dreams were something of a bad fan-fiction, but sometimes they followed on to each other for many nights, always following the same plot line. For some reason my brain resided to manifest my only hopes and dreams into a fictional world, which is why I still claim to being pretty f***ed up in the head to this day.

I don't really consider myself a Furry but I got the weirdest crush on Rouge The Bat and Bunnie Rabbot. Like Damn.

Also more a head canon but I see Sonic as sort of the Friends With Benefits type than the long term relationship type.

I'm probably the millionth person to say this, but it doesn't make it any less true.

I run like Sonic when nobody's looking. I also have the tendancy to switch from my normal voice to a Roger Craig Smith voice randomly.

I'm not sure if these are really shameful but...

I once thought Knuckles was a girl. Then, I watched Sonic X and felt like an idiot.

I once completed Sonic 2, without even knowing you could spindash.

I have a Classic Sonic plush in my bed.

I actually found Sonic 06 an okay game, not that good, but not as bad as everyone says.

I have only really been a Sonic fan since I was 11 or 12, I never really had any of the games as a kid.

I used to imitate Sonic's finger wag like crazy as a kid.

And at least half the posts I've made in this and other forums I'd really love to erase from the internet and people's memories.

In present day, some of my artwork of Sonic characters (particularly SatAm/Archie females) is a bit...well not porn outright but...creepy.

Telling to my friends, relatives "hey, look up, I love this tune, you have to heart it! (My Destiny, My Sweet Passion, Sonic, Thank You for Being you, Sonic Underground's songs, Dear my Friend, etc". Then, in a similar way "hey, I love this game! friendship and team work rocks! (Sonic Heroes)"

Back when I was a kid, full of dreams, I've used to REALLY wish to be on Sonic X lol to meet them o.o. Remember the little girl who thought Amy was a cute toy?? kinda like that, I wanted to have my own Tails lol

I guess never having finished a Sonic game other than Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters would be considered shameful to most...but I'm really pretty casual about my gaming, and growing up I didn't have much incentive as I could just look over my sister's shoulder at the cutscenes and then replay the levels on her user.

Also, have you ever felt like ripping your eyeballs out? Well, you will now!

I think that's enough agony for now, though I have more. Thankfully I never posted these anywhere =D

More from the crypt.

  • Used to be a fan of SonAmy when I was in my preteen and really early teen years. Ewwwww. :v
  • To reiterate on the whole "Sonic DRIVE" thing, it's still one of the most hype vocal Sonic themes ever and my total guilty pleasure from the series.
  • Also fom Sonic X, the songs "Mi-Ra-I" and "The Shining Road" are really great tracks and I love those almost unabashedly. They're wonderful, and capture some spirit of Sonic I feel was lost to time and I can't exactly define it.
  • Defended Sonic 06 and it's design decisions for a brief period of time. Around late 2007 - early 2008 I believe? Yeah.
  • Used to be such a massive Sonic fan when I was younger that I'd probably push my younger self into a locker.
  • Did a science fair project somewhat related to Sonic in the 4th grade. Jesus...

This song from Sonic Underground?

When I was a kid I used to dance like a maniac, and when I say maniac I mean Like Crash Bandicoot and the Tasmanian devil hyped up on speed kinda maniac, to this song, I loved it.

I listened to it over and over and over.

14 years later I can't fucking stand it. Possibly because of those embarrassing memories.

Here's some super duper dark secrets that even my closest friends don't know, so keep it a secret will ya?

  • OMG, I LOOOOOVE Sonic Underground so much, mainly for the songs, but the plot and stuff is pretty neat too
  • I'm a defender of Sonic 06, so... yeah
  • I despise Sonic Colors with my heart and soul
  • I see Jason Griffith as the best Sonic Voice Actor EVER
  • I don't really like the Classics that much
  • I'm okay, or rather, in favor of Sonic having a more mature and edgy storyline. Not everything has to be bright, bouncy, colorful, and funny
  • Elise is a legit good character

Sonic Adventure DX was the first video game to make me cry, because of Gamma's story.

I was like seven when I first played it, so yeah.

I thought I was the only one! Lol!

That and I always used to say, "hmph" a lot when I was a kid in order to be like Shadow.

I've always kept up with the Sonic comics and I still peruse them and reminisce on my backlog that I have. I am a huge fan of Jay Axer's, still am for reasons, and I used to defend his artwork in the comics. He does great work, he's just not great for Sonic however. I never could stand Penders' writing, even then I knew it was soap opera garbage, but he impressed me with Tossed in Space. It was clearly everything he wanted to do with the comic being as he is a huge Trekkie and it showed. It's easily my favourite Sonic in space stories, but even now I don't claim that to myself to be a shameful secret. I unabashedly love that story arc and think that if you cut out the rest of the bull that Penders concocted, Tails' parents being space stranded for instance, that it's a legitimately compelling springboard for a Sonic in space story.

There's still an urge to sing It Doesn't Matter sometimes. I used to have the SA2 soundtrack and loved it. I'd even turn off the lights and do stupid flash light movements/"dancing". I'd always skip past the bizarrely "sexy" toned Rouge themes though. I still find that to be highly distracting in games. It's distracting in SA2, it's distracting in StarFox Adventures, and I think it's just unnecessary. I think I still have the CD boxed up somewhere.

I still have a liking for Sally Acorn and the classic Freedom Fighters and they're easily still a tipping point for why I can't fully enjoy the new Archie comics. Uekawa's skateboarder graffiti style had a purpose in 1998-2002, but it feels really dated now.

In 2010, Sonic Colours and having read so much English literature in Grade School and up convinced me that the American spellings are wrongWrong, wrong, wrong

Oh yeah, and can't forget the 4Kidz moved over to Sega Forums fan character rp fanfiction writing trash from 2004-2009.  It is, after all, the base for what is now Greg the Daft Cat. He starred in a Shadow the Hedgehog focused fanfiction. And to think that all started when I read a fan letter on Sonic Central.

Soniccentral2.png

Oh man, this site used to mean a lot to me. It was as important as Sonic HQ. Every time I heard White Jungle that's when I knew I belonged on that site. Before this wonderful site, when I was on the internet in 1999-2002 I would go to the Sonic Team website when I wasn't looking up Rayman websites and finding early Rayman costumes from press events. I remember so many HTML beginner websites for Sonic and Rayman. So many dated and wonderful .gifs. I kind of miss it sometimes. I'm only now coming up on being 22 years old and this is making me feel old.

Fun times. This used to all be so fun.

ïEmbarassing eh ?

Before I knew Sonic I was your average loner freak who's super obbsessed with getting a friend (especially females), but Sonic (especially Aaron's Twitter antics) taught me to stop trying to get friends and just be happy with my own loneliness.

Oh, I thought of one...if you look at some pictures taken of me when I was, like, nine, you'll see me trying to look "cool" by sticking up one finger and even sort of posing my feet like Sonic's in the original Sonic 1 artwork. There's also a picture of me holding up two fingers and a thumb, in imitation of the Japanese Sonic 3 artwork...because I thought that was to be cool and didn't realize it was to symbolize the number three x) Good times eh.

I used to run with my hands behind my back in gym class like Sonic did in Sonic Adventure. Yeah I know, I was a cool kid.

Lol, me too. Except I did it on plain street often and it lasted until I was 9.

Also, I am fan of SaTBK and particulary, a SonicXPercival fan. I sometimes I write stories about and when I get noticed and I say "no, not at all, I plan to keep them together for very short time" but I'm actually lying. Also, I had thought of a story for a Sonic and the Black Knight 2, but I decided now to just turn that into just a bit of a back story to a fan fiction I'm making because I am afraid I would get criticized.

I like to think of some possible sequel to Sonic Generations, where the focus it's just on Adventure games.

And the worst of them... I once made a story very similar to Sonic Adventure 2's Shadow's backstory for Literature's in school, but I was noticed, surprisingly, by a schoolmate I didn't talked to very much, and the teacher just heard him and asked me and why did I do that. I felt totally embarrassed.
