With the Heroes Menu Theme, all signs are hinting at a heavy Senoune Soundtrack. I sincerly hope not, they should get the people who did the Unleashed and Colors OST have a huge influence in this game.

You seriously think they won't?

I don't get it. Sonic Pocket Adventure was Dimps's very first Sonic game, and gameplay-wise, I personally found it to control even better than Sonic Advance. Sonic Advance controlled better than Sonic Rush. Sonic Rush controlled better than Sonic 4. Sonic 4 controlled better than Sonic Generations 3DS, apparently?

Why are they working entirely in reverse with their 2D Sonic games? They nailed it on the first try, so what the hell?

The Curious Case of Dimpsamin Button?

PS1-3DS Comparison

Yeah, 3DS looks better. not to mention that there's much more to render with the 3D models in the background as well as the much better textures. Sonic's model is good as well not to mention thigns like how the light shines and shades the motobug in that shot.

Am I the only who thinks the Special Stage of the 3DS looks awfully rendered? It just appears dull to my eyes.

Tomoya Ohtani and Fumie Kumatani are largely creditied for for their work on Unleashed and Colours (Ohtani was the sound director both), but actually they both worked on a number of other Sonic titles under the direction of Jun Senoue. With the variety of games being represented in Generations you can only really expect a number of musical influences as well. The classic version of GHZ has a retro mood to it and the classic version of Escape from the City is also designed to sound like a techno pop song. I wouldn't worry about too much of one style over an other. Heroes, SA1, SA2, S4... none of them have had that problem. The only ones that did, IMO, were Black Knight and ShTH.

Hey look, some of the worst Sonic stages ever!

The stage designs or the stage themes? The latter is the thing to remember for Generations. Heroes had some of the best level themes, even if the design was atrocious.

Why does a DS tech demo look better, I mean really.

[EDIT- lost track of the argument, my bad:]

Why does Rayman, a PS1 game, look about the same, if only a tad less detailed? Dimps has failed to use the 3DS to its full potential!

[EDIT 2:] This isn't a matter of how many items are being rendered or how smooth the animation is. The poly count is only slightly better, if anything, it's a very low end PS2 game, and a high end PS1 game.

Hey look, some of the worst Sonic stages ever!

How's the cynicism working for you, Tobbii? Not too good from what I see. :/

That Was A Joke

...how was that even a joke? What was humor? What's the punchline?

Thank you!

The Curious Case of Dimpsamin Button?

Off topic, but Benjamin Button was such a touching movie! ;_;

Love how Final fortress was removed from the list. And I'll agree with you on the Casino/bingo stages. I hated them with a passion.

But in general the game had decent stages. Nothing AMAZING or nothing to lame. And these were not "some of the worst sonic stages ever". Far from that. Look at SHTH and sonic 06 then come back to this forum and tell us about the worst stages in sonic history.

If Tobbii is talking about general level design, then yeah, it's not that good. But visual aesthetics, the concepts and ideas they put forth, those were some of the best since the Genesis days!

Even then, they still had that distinct Senoune-Style,with being too much rock(SA2 especially), being a bit cheesy and predictable, and overall have that 90's/80's feel to them. This doesn't go for all of the Soundtracks, but still a lot,or at the very least half.

Unleashed/Colors sounded more proffesional, atmospheric and truer to the Classic games than anything else IMO.

I'll be VERY pissed if Hydrocity and Chemical Plant get a Rock Rendition.

That's true, and I definitely feel that M.Sonic's GHZ could be something much better than "GHZ: Rock Edition". We'll have to wait and see. At any rate, C.Sonic doesn't sound like he'll be getting the usual Senoue-affair.

Casino levels

Haunted levels

Beachside levels

Tropical levels

Jungle levels

Canyon levels

and Air ship levels

It's really not that rock-infused... I mean, yeah, the guitar is there in the backing, but the melody is mostly synth and trumpets. It's hardly the level that even Emerald Coast was.

It's more of a up-beat mix than a simple rock cover.

Maybe I shouldn't have said the tropes sucked, but more the visual execution of them. But since I DID say tropes, I guess I'll stick to my guns and back up my statement:

Casino, 9 times out of 10, they suck.

Haunted, they all suck and I never want another haunted-mansion stage ever again.

Beachside, Emerald Coast was fun, which other? Oh yeah, none. The only times they're fun is when they make you think "Hey, this is like Emerald Coast".

Tropical, well I did say I LIKED Frog Forest so... Not sure why you're mentioning that.

Canyon, Rail Canyon could barely be classed as a Canyon trope, it was nothing but rails and metal cannons.

Air Ship, once again, said I liked it so, no reason to list it.

Also, you forgot "Future City levels", which also suck.

About Mad Matrix, it was nothing but a headache inducing borefest, I appreciate a stage based on one of my fav. sci-fi movies, but it wasn't fun.

But this is about as off-topic as we can get, we should probably talk about Sonic Generations again.

Nyeh, Indigo got in faster.

What I was going to say was that I thought Mad Matrrix was a very unique level, in that it had absolutely minimal use of guns as actual weapons and instead was almost purely platforming/puzzles with bullets. It's one of the few levels where yielding one is entirely optional when it comes to enemies. Plus it had a cool design and some interesting gimmicks.

Then again, my second favourite level in Shadow was Cosmic Fall so maybe I'm just very open to it.

...If they can't get Casino Park into Generations, they should Sonic-fy Circus Park and shove that in.

Edit: And that's assuming they don't get a level like Carnival Night Zone or Casinopolis/Twinkle Park in.

Are there any tropes you do like? There aren't many left that you've eliminated from that list. Your not making any sense to me. You are saying you like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006, which have all of those tropes, made grittier and darker, but you don't like the care-free and saturated classic-style interpretation of them?

I really don't understand. But okay, that's fine. You're not going to get another game like Sonic 2006 or Shadow, so I'm sorry. :/

And Mad Matrix was the only colorful level in Shadow.

I grouped beachside as beach levels and Green Hill levels, so...

... uhm...
