Am I the only one who thinks the Doomsday remix is an absolute abomination?

It's not particularly good, no, and it's fucking wrong.

It sounds so half-assed compared to the other remixes. Its like they did it as an afterthought. No punchy bass like Green Hill Zone? Why? Why does it sound like an incomplete MIDI?

I can bet top-dollar though that any modern variant will be ripping the guitar riffs everywhere.

Either it is an incomplete track, such isn't unheard of in early builds, or it's 3DS exclusive so it's shite.

It sounds like a remix you'd come across on the Newgrounds audio portal. :(

This is Dimps we're talking about. Someone remind me what happened the last time they were given time?

OH RIGHT, THIS:

Never trust Dimps.

My chips are in that its incomplete. Listen to the green hill zone videos they are sounding like a carbon copy of the 360/PS3 tracks.

Or maybe it's the fact that it's Dimps...

Think about that.

Dimps isn't composing the music for the game.

As revealed yesterday, copies of the new issue of Nintendo Power have been delivered to subscribers, which unveil a Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic’s big 20th Anniversary game Sonic Generations. Details from the issue have been shared by Sonic Retro forum member Effexor, and it appears this version of the game will be very unique and not just a port.

Here’s all of the main details:

* The Nintendo 3DS version is being co-developed by Sonic Team and Dimps.

* The director of the 3DS version is Tetsu Katano, who directed Sonic and the Black Knight.

* 2D side-scrolling gameplay for both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic.

* Momentum based gameplay and platforming are fully featured in the Classic Sonic gameplay.

* Modern Sonic plays a lot like the Sonic Rush games and Nintendo DS version of Sonic Colours.

* Nintendo 3DS version will have exclusive stages and boss stages.

* Green Hill Zone will be the only shared stage in both the HD console version and Nintendo 3DS version.

* Casino Night Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is confirmed for the Nintendo 3DS version.

* Story has some differences between the console and Nintendo 3DS versions, but will be fundamentally the same.

* Console version will have many characters, but the Nintendo 3DS version will only feature the ones who are integral to the story.

* There is no Wii version. Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka says this is because “The primary goal for the console versions of Generations was reimagining the series’s classic zones in vivid, high-definition graphics.”

* Sonic the Hedgehog 3‘s Launch Base Zone ‘Big Arm’ boss fight is in the game, which suggests that stage is also in the game.

* Classic Eggman appears in the above mentioned boss.

* Exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS version are challenges that you can unlock via StreetPass or Play Coins.

* The game also features an exclusive two-player race mode via local wireless connection.

* Modern Sonic stages take advantage of the 3D feature more than the Classic Sonic stages. An example shown and detailed is a part in the Green Hill Zone where Modern Sonic smashes through the bottom of a giant totem pole. The camera then moves to the front of Sonic and lets you see the rest of the pole collapse behind Sonic as he escapes.

* The 3D depth is also highlighted when Modern Sonic occasionally moves between the foreground and the background.

* Jun Senoue and his music team are working on the music for the game.

* Nintendo Power thinks the handful of tracks they’ve heard so far are “fantastic”.

* Special Stages are confirmed and are designed in Sonic Heroes style. As expected, you earn Chaos Emeralds from these stages. Whether or not Super Sonic will be your reward for earning all Chaos Emeralds is unclear right now.

Guys feel like idiots now huh? I read through that article instread of just looking at the puurty pictures so i knew it wasn't dimps fault at least music wise.

Quit blaming dimps for everything that goes wrong in a sonic game, there not your scapegoat.

Its Jun you all got problems with this track, why don't you just wait and see if the track improves.

Actually i like the music.

Well i guess it could be a little better. In any case it depends on a person's tastes.

I don't think the remix is particularly bad, just badly used in the game. I mean, Doomsday Zone for a boss at the beginning of the game, really? Assuming this is Green Hill's boss, or if not it's not gonna be far infront of it for them to be showing it already. It should be saved for the climax period, not thrown in at the beginning.

Y'know, I think we've got ourselves a new cycle: the Critic Cycle.

Step 1: Critic says that Sonic is a massive icon in gaming, but makes sure to note that he's never been in a good game since he or she was wearing diapers.

Step 2: State that, "nonetheless, SEGA is a trying again, with Sonic ________, and so far, it's great!"

Step 3: List off a bunch of irrelevant or non-existant problems right after the above statement, and repeat once a new Sonic game is released, forgetting Sonic Colors, the good ol' Dreamcast days, or any other successes the franchise has had beyond the Genesis/Megadrive days even exist.

I mean, damn. Seriously. We get it. Sonic sucked a good amount of ass from 2005 to 2009, Shadow the Hedgehog through Black Knight were shitty games. It's been drilled into our skulls. And hell, even games that got tons of praise in the past are treated like crap, having their problems overblown simply to show how Sonic "never worked in 3D", or something.

....ANYHOW, it seems that the preview helps to affirm what I've assumed from the start: the console version is solid gold, while the 3DS version is... well, Dimps. Poor Dimps. I still don't understand why Sonic Team don't handle the Classic Sonic levels while Dimps handles Modern Sonic. I mean, apparently it's a joint effort. Unless of course, we're getting Sonic Genesis 2: The Redemptioning for the 3DS instead of Generations.

Uhm... no, it does not. Did you not listen to the gameplay footage of Green Hill Zone, both versions? Also, did you not pay attention to the face that it says "Jun Senoue and his team" are working on it?

Jun did a less than stellar job on Sonic 4, but he does a pretty good job otherwise. This dying cats thing is pretty annoying.
